@rbreadmaker well You could do it properly and wire the pickup to a jack, but I had a crappy old guitar lead I didn't need anymore, cut off it's head and wound the wire straight to the pickup. Strap it down with duckt tape and your sorted. Nothing refined about it, but that's the fun. If you want to make it easy to tune you could secure one end of the string with an actual machine head or some kinda screw.
