This song actually describes Vanitas very well. He was born a fragile young boy who didn't know what would happen to him and was frightened and lonely. Xehanort corrupted him and he became one of the best antagonists in the series, as well as my favorite character.
Oh also, personally I would like if Nomura would bring him back to the game. He is a great developed character that deserves to stay in more than one game. But too bad Nomura chose Xeohnart to be in Dream Drop Distance and continue his reign of evil.
@Kairi3121in the new trailer for dream drop distance he shows up at the end wearing a black organization jacket and removes his hood to reveal himself talking to xeohnart.

He would cry of the pain sometimes when he killed the Unversed before BBS started. The killing of the Unversed caused him pain. Now how do you feel about getting the Keyslinger trophy?
Vanitas is hands down one of the best villains in Kingdom Hearts. He's powerful, he actually knows what he's doing, he keeps things short and to the point (unlike how drawn out and corny a lot of the Disney villains are), but his best quality is his talent for getting under your skin just to piss you off. And in doing that he can bring out your insecurities and get you to do whatever it is he wants you to. Tetsuya Nomura, my hat's off to you for this fantastic addition to the series.

Actually Vanitas is the darkness extracted from Ven heart that took the face of Sora because Ven connected with Sora's heart for rebuild the hole left by the removal of he's darkside.
What? No, Ventus' heart was split BEFORE it merged with Sora. If you read the Xehanort reports it explains that Ven was a regular keyblade weilder Xehanort took under his wing to use in forming the x-blade. When he split Ven into Ventus and Vanitas, Ventus' heart started to slip away. It merged with Soras to keep him alive.
So that doesn't explain why Vanitas looks like Sora, but it does explain why Roxas looks like Ven.
yes i already know that but maybe you don't know but for repair the hole cause by the extraction of vanitas that put him in that trauma state,he connect with sora heart not fuse ''connect'' , nomura said on an interview that vanitas face look's like sora because of this union between their hearts but if ventus had fuse his heart with someone else vanitas face would had been different,he could had have any kind of face base on this,i hope it's clear my explanation now

I think that while Vanitas was created before Ven joined hearts with Sora, at that time he never had a face. Once Ven did merge with Sora Vanitas gained his look like you said.
