i think helmets are a personal choice, if you want to stay safe you should choose to wear one, but its still a choice. the thing i disagree with is english youth riders are required to wear helmets at shows but western youth riders aren't. are western kids heads harder than english?
Ok I have two horses and one is a brude mare (partially) and we put a saddle on her and she will take off jumping everything and yet your horse does it perfect.. beautiful horse and whoever owns this horse they are very lucky .. Amazing rider by the way!!!!
Whooaa! Nice horse AND rider!!! But jumping that height. He defffffffff needs a helmet. You need a helmet even when you're just sitting on the horse. You never know what can happen.
BrgidWubsYou!!! i totally agree i ride western soon english 2 and i will never wear a helmet practicing unlike showing lol! i will send you my next jumping BB i dont have english tack so i do itBB lol i love my barrel QH lol she my first jumper pony! and for all yalls info i do not own proper jumping equipment!
That is a beautiful horse! He had a bit of a rub, but he has great form! And the rider had great form too. Your right about the helmet. What breed is the horse and how many hand is he?
Wow amazing ridder he made it look so easy! Well done.... dissapointed no helmit on but that is his choise. Obvesly he is a good ridder and feels confident in his ablilitys to stay on.
@EventerGal42 no offence but you should really replace it as even though you can't see any damage it my have internal damage and may be very unsafe. not trying to be rude just thought i'd let you know
Wow... I really think the horse and rider are very talented, but I have to agree, I am slightly offput by your lack of a helmet. Even the best rider or the best horse can be hurt. So your never experienced enough to not wear one. And for the people that say helmets are for sissies or wimps, we will still be able to ride when you sit in the hospital/ so do it for yourself, your horse and you family. Spend forty bucks and buy a helmet!!!
@Jojogirl641 umm..yah, good helmets, actually cost 140 not 40. so idk where it is that u buy ur helmet or if its cheap but we only wish they were that cheap
@hunterjumper798 Just google riding helmets and you can find fine schooling helmets for 30-50$ Yeah, show helmets are that much, but if you buy a schooling helmet, you can just throw a helmet cover on for smaller shows(for rated shows, buy a show helmet)... I my schooling troxel for 44$(55 for tax+shipping) and it is so comfy and nice! :D(I even saw some for $20!!!!)
@hunterjumper798 My helmet is perfectly good, and I only paid about $35 for it. There's no reason to spend that much (unless it's a show helmet), because chances are you'll have to get a new one every time you have a bad fall. $140... That's kind of ridiculous.
I accept the fact that that was his decision not to wear a helmet 100% but I hope one day he realizes he should wear one even if he has the choice not to! I'm not trying to say, "oh I want him to fall and get hurt" or anything cuz that would be bad, but I just hope he learns a valuable lesson that could save his life!
I love the noise he makes going over. Anyways, very talented rider and horse. Why do people need to complain about helmets all the time? Gotta ruin the fun. :)
@BrigidWubsYou what will ruin the fun is no helmet and falling off and getting injured so start wearing a damn helmet. we are safe riders and don't want to not have a helmet and face the consequences. a helmet can save your life.
@afleetalgebra Sorry, don't want to start anything. But, I am saying this generalized. I am an english rider, therefor I never ride without one. My point is that it's that person's choice, and commenting about it won't change their mind. Thank you.
@BrigidWubsYou that is true it is a wonderful horse and great rider they are a great team. but sometimes a comment can change their mind if they see it and the comment is a story of what happened to that person. i do agree with you. and it is their choice.
im not trying to be rude but i don't get it, trainers tell us to sit down and sit back not to lead forward but the guy in this video is (to me) doing neither after the jump. is it just me or do other people see that too? and yes i do jump.
@horsechick513 he's doing a two point, getting off the horse's back. If he sat down and sat back the horse wouldn't be able to jump, and if it could it probably wouldn't. All that extra weight on it (ESPECIALLY at this height) would make it ridiculously difficult and annoying for a horse.
@horsechick513 if the horse was just doing the one jump then there is no need for him to really set up after the jump so he can allow the horse a bit more room to relax, also at that height hes probably just trying to make sure he keeps his weight off the horse's back on landing
To those writing about not wearing a hemlet: you would go nuts over seeing me ride my Mustang (caught out of the wild, in utah) wearing a skirt, no shoes, and no helmet, bareback, and backwards... huh???
@TwixxyMade hahahaha i used to ride my old standardbred horse who used to be a Mennonite horse backwards with the reigns around my neck... oH BOY hahahahaha
A horse doesn't have to be behaving badly for the situation to be dangerous. Any horse can take a miss-step, and when jumping a simple miss-step can turn into a disaster in an instant. But this rider is an adult, responsible for his own safety and (hopefully) fully aware of the risks he is taking. ITS HIS CHOICE!!!!
its ok not to wear a helmet as long as you trust your horse if it was badly behaved then yes i would say wear one but it looks like a pretty trustworthy horse but i suppose horses are always unpredictable no matter how honest they are :)

it looks really nice and i dont mean to sound stuck up or bossy. but u really need to wear helmet. im only 16 but i have seen so many people who's lives were saved bc of a helmet. believe me i have wearing one byt i force myself to bc i know its safe
@hannaheliz16 Wearing a helment is a good thing, yes. But don't be going and telling this guy what he should and shouldn't do. Especially when he's this good of a rider, not being mean just saying :) I never wear a helment, not saying it's right I probably should, but oh well. It's kinda like wearing a helment on a bike. not a huge deal, though it helps.
i can't help but laugh when i see vides where over a hundred people feel the need to make a comment about someone not wearing a helmet, who cares about your opinion, i'm sure that this guy would never see this, you are all a bunch of couch jockeys.
@HazardousAmusement not couch jockey's... I have been in/seen many jumping accidents in which had the person not worn a helmet, they would have died... trust me this isn't because we are amateurs or bad riders, some of them were fluke accidents that couldn't be stopped or small mistakes that happen so easily... I mean seriously why risk your life, pay the $80 or so dollars get a helmet and wear it, it's much better than having brain damage or being dead.
@missionxminded oh believe me they are couch jockeys. Who are you to tell someone what to do? Yes i wear a helmet and i have been in many an accident where no helmet could have spelled disaster. But it's not your place to tell that person what to do, i guarantee that he is much older then you and doesn't need someone telling him what to do. It is his choice he is a big boy and i doubt your opinion or anyone elses on here matters to him. Sure helmets do save lives there is no doubt about that
@HazardousAmusement Oh god, I know! Or how people immediately harp on you about how you take care of your animals after only watching 25 seconds of video?
@BethanHorseMad actualy no its not the law but you have to wear it other wise you cant compete its simple really and i ride withotu a helmet all the time and its fine but when ever imjumping i ride with one so GET OVER IT
@aridxxluv woaahh, i am over it! i never said that it is wrong, i wouldn't wear one if i was allowed. i got a lil bit mixed up about rules and laws, well i am sorry... nott :L
people choose not to wear hats purely through choice. they know the consiquences so why not just leave them alone?! he's obviously a v. good rider. and this video was put up to show how good the horse was? lovely horse and really well ridden btw;D
he has a choice to wear one. and he looks like hes been riding for years, and knows what hes doing! so maybe you dont know and you are jelouse,so you write your comment, but its his life not yours. and he jumps better than you anyways LOL
seriously could you have any bigger spurs!!! that is abuse!!! those spurs could easily cut that poor horse. i feel bad for that horse that it has to deal with that
@SamAndGonzo that horse wasn't even touched by those spurs the guy is making sure not to let them touch him. also they are rounded spurr's they wouldn't cut the horse even if he did roll them back across the horses ribcage.also hes a trainer he knows how to handle a horse safely why would he wear something if it could hurt the horse in an obvious manner? the horse looks to be in excellent condition both on the weight and on his muscle mass i'd rate him as a 3 on a 1 to 5 scale for his BMI ^~^
@SaddlebredFancy well sry…i just like to be nice and not pretty much abuse my horse. im actually a nice owner. if ur calling me stupid for having like 4 inch spurs then i feel sry for the horse you have. yeh im the one thats dumb.
thats absoulutle amaizing!!!!!!! your horse is beautiful and for the first time jumping that fence did extremly well!! do you still have him?? how old is he?? sorry for all the questions.
Hi i started a channel for all the horse lovers like me. too be able share their interesting stories of them and their lovely horses :) and once i get 5-10 members ill make a video with a weekly topic. please sub so you can get a notice of my videos and if u like/ask ill sub back. oh an at the end of the week ill pick my fav and most like video in my next video topic :D

People should be able to make there own desissions. If this rider chooses to not wear a helmet and hurts himself ITS HIS OWN CHOICE.

he has a choice to wear one. and he looks like hes been riding for years, and knows what hes doing! so maybe you dont know and you are jelouse,so you write your comment, but its his life not yours. and he jumps better than you anyways LOL

seriously could you have any bigger spurs!!! that is abuse!!! those spurs could easily cut that poor horse. i feel bad for that horse that it has to deal with that
SamAndGonzo 1 year ago
@SamAndGonzo that horse wasn't even touched by those spurs the guy is making sure not to let them touch him. also they are rounded spurr's they wouldn't cut the horse even if he did roll them back across the horses ribcage.also hes a trainer he knows how to handle a horse safely why would he wear something if it could hurt the horse in an obvious manner? the horse looks to be in excellent condition both on the weight and on his muscle mass i'd rate him as a 3 on a 1 to 5 scale for his BMI ^~^

i dont think riding without a helmet is bad, nearly every grand prix showjump-dressage rider doesnt wear one excpet for at shows.
