This movie was amazing, because the leading character at the beginning wasn`t the typical hero who faces danger to stay with his friends and comrades. He was a coward first - as a British soldier to that time it would have been his duty to go to war..not to pull on a uniform and then pull it off when things become dangerous!! But exactly this makes Heiths acting so outstanding - cause the character stays likeable all the time for the audience..and turns into a hero in an uncommon way!!^^
I think you are really to the point with your short analysis of this movie! I believe that was one of the things that he was attracted to in this character: the possibility to unfold the more unknown layers within the concept of being a "hero".
The only thing I don't like is how he has a cigarette during it... I don't like smoking. Other than that Heath Ledger was soooo amazing. I actually only heard of him like four days ago and I went to see the Dark Knight and just am blown away by him, especially how an intelligent and down to earth person he really is.
"I think Im gonna do this kinda role for the rest of my life" That upset me a little, but at least his wish was granted. He stayed true to his word until the end, and gave us all (and himself) performances to be proud of.
Im filming a Special Edition movie review to the Dark Knight today, will be up, say tomorrow - Please check it out
I completely agree! It's such a mixed experience to view his interviews: it's lovely and yet heartbreaking to see him so full of life, and to hear him talk about things to come... :´(
Your a treasure. Thank you...I love this interview. I see Heath's passion for this movie and the character. His desire to bring out the dignity and honor of the character. Impressive. I am proud to own this movie and brag on it.
You said it so perfectly that I really don't have anything to add (and I said my piece in response to 'tnaftal' LOL). And again: Anna deserves the credit: I just pushed some buttons to get it on here - she found it! ;D
I'll miss Heath's articulations about the roles he's played. He always had a unique way of getting his ideas across. Four Feathers is one of my favorites of his movies.
Oh, your so right about that! I really miss it too... I really don't get it when people keep saying he was blubbering or incoherent!! (Yeah I've read a few of those comments, both from viewers and from media people...) What I see is someone who tries really hard to communicate his thoughts about something he takes very seriously. And he's doing it despite of his shyness, and despite the fact that he was never really comfortable with the interview/junket situation! He's SO human... :´(
You're welcome: Actually just helping my "online friend" 'anna123' to post it! She deserves the credit for finding it! ;D
Nope - don't have the Conan interview, I'm sorry to say: Have been searching hi and lo for it myself, along with Heath on Letterman... Anyone else who's got those/knows where to find them: please please please let me know!

I'm happy to see that there are still people who are discovering him as the amazing person he was!

too bad he may never have that chance... to direct a film...

Oh! I absolutely agree! The music videos he directed were so promising and talented. It's such a loss also from an artistic point of view!

You're a doll for posting these. You don't have the appearance he did on Conan for Lords of Dogtown do you?
