  • my mother use to watch anthur in the 80s she told me to watch them i havnt stop watching them i love dudley moore

  • I dont like this song. I love it!!!! Yeah, my wonderful years in New York.

  • good song.

  • The song won the 1981 Academy Award for Best Original Song, and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. The award was presented by singer Bette Midler, who, in her presentation of the nominated songs, called the song " 'That Song About the Moon and New York City,' also known as 'Four on a Song,' " referring to the four songwriters.

  • The song was written in collaboration between Cross, pop music composer Burt Bacharach, and his frequent writing partner Carole Bayer Sager. A fourth writing credit went to Minnelli's ex-husband and Australian songwriter Peter Allen, also a frequent collaborator with Bayer Sager. The line "When you get caught between the moon and New York City" from the chorus is taken from an unreleased song they had previously written together.

  • "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" is a song performed by Christopher Cross, which was the theme to the 1981 film Arthur starring Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli.[1] It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US and on the VG-lista chart in Norway.

  • Grew up with Dudley we LOVE you RIP

  • Everday i listern this song in my phone ((:

  • great movie, great song i love this song!!!! those were the days!!!

  • And i should have mentioned.... Great job on this video bloodybones345

  • Christopher Cross was just awesome, seriously. And this was a great movie. The new one with Russel Brand is great too.

  • I don't like the movie remake so much, but I really love the cover of this song by Fitz and the Tantrums. True to the original but bringing something new to it.

  • Arthur, O Milinário Sedutor. Cara, Parabéns pela postagem e por relembrar esse Clássico Incrível!!!

  • Great video.

    Great movie.

    Great song.

    Dustin, Liza, Sir John...Great Actors.

  • yup,,,,i like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • why did they remake this with that arsehole!!!!!!!!!!

  • @WFJOFFICIAL Ugh I know.... Makes me wanna puke. I can't stand that fruitcake... Hollywood doesn't care about creativity anymore so they keep remaking old classics and ruining them.

  • genial

  • fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Parabéns pela postagem além da música ser Linda as imagens ficaram ótimas.

  • Thanks for posting, bloodybones. my all time favorite

  • Absolutely one of the best tribute video's I have ever seen, you captured the best of the movie with the song, I commend you on a job well done!

  • Very nicely done. A terrific song and a wonderful movie. Dudley Moore was such a gifted performer in so many ways, but this has to be his signature role. Liza is simply beautiful. I can't decide if she's more beautiful as "Linda" in this film or as "Pookie" in Sterile Cuckoo. No wonder Arthur fell so hard for her. Beautiful, sassy, and sexy, that's Liza in this role.

  • This song is really marvelous !

  • I dream of this life all the time

    BRAVO!!

  • Comment removed

  • It's real.

When you watch the Moon at Night in the USA it seems to look bigger than from any other Place on Earth.

Liza was in my Hometown in Germany singing. It was wonderful.

When I go shopping, I remember this Song here every Time since Decades.

  • Why this was allowed to be remade is surely one of the great mysteries of the world.

NOTHING could ever come close to duplicating the chemistry in this film

  • i wanna be best friends with hobson.

  • NEW YORK CITY....

  • Liza Minnelli♥

  • thank you so much for uploading this song i so, love christopher cross.. and his song especially arthur them

  • @PortsmouthFilms

I do wish I could have an Uncle Arthur but he has to act like Paul Lynde's Uncle Arthur

  • I love this movie and I absolutely love this song! Brings back lots of memories!!Thank you for putting this together and sharing with us!! Great job!

  • The best Movie Dudley Moore Ever made, And the Russell Brand Re-Make is not even close to being as good......Though I like Russel Brand :)

  • @kickitoff27 I just saw the Russel Brand version. It was so flat. Made me have to go back and watch this one again.

  • r.i.p Dudley

  • I love it..nostalgic

  • yo quiero una novia asi de guapisima como liza minelli,

  • One of my all time favorite movies!!! Did not waste my time seeing the so called remake. Don't try and remake perfection. Perfect song for the movie.

  • @tomcamp6023 I thought the same for the remake. I hated the idea. I gave it a chance. I was glad I watched it. Definitely not the same vibe as the original, but not a bad film. I found it extremely cute and Greta Gerwig is adorable. I hope one day you convince yourself to watch it.

  • PRESIOSA CANSION.

  • Hes taking the knife out of the chesse.Do you think he wants the cheese.

  • A música é linda em todos os sentidos.

    E o filme é maravilhoso.

  • Goodbye Duddley, you bloody genious.

  • Fantastically done love the compilation & the quality of the tune....thanks for posting

  • WHEN I WAS WALKING IN NYC THE GIRL I LOVE THE MOST IN MY LIFE CALLED AND I STARTED TO CRY CAUSE AT THE SAME TIME THAT SONG CAME UP FROM SOMEWHERE AND IT WAS MAGICAL.

  • Nice job!

  • 6 people actually got between the moon & New York City...

  • where can I see this movie please? :(

  • They have it on Netflix or most video stores Sometimes you can find it at Wal Mart as a double disc with Arthu 2 which was pretty good but the original is the funniest movie I have ever seen and remains my all time favorite movie. The new one that came out a few months ago with Russell Brand doesnt hold a candle in fact they ruined it. Trust me you will enjoy this one!@tonton6969

  • @TatevilleChurch1 . Boycotted the "Arthur" remake .Won't allow myself to watch it.

  • This song was #1 when I was born.

  • To me, this song is very romantic, yet very sad at the same time. Thank you for posting,

  • superb song, superb film, superb acting , Dudley, John Geilguid & co also superb.

Remake with that twat Russell Brand was an insult to the original

  • The 4 people who dislike this...are the one's who think Russell Brand is actually funny....Dudley Moore is a classic!

  • this is an AWESOME tribute video... love Dudley Moore, he was a genius... and that song still gets me!!!!!!!!

  • Well done!

  • My goodness, if I was born 15-20 years earlier I would have appreciated Liza Minnelli, men my age don't think much of her. My goodness shes gorgeous.

  • @espnjason ....She was a good looking woman when she was young...

    No question.

  • Ladies and Gentleman.....As you may have surmised by now...There will be no wedding today, you see, My fiance has had second thoughts and if you know anything about me then you can't really blame her can you?

Also, theres a good chance I may need to go to the hospital.

  • hot sax!!

  • y bother putting a dislike button?

  • @monnie711 Well now we know six people have no taste.

  • @monnie711 Because some people have opinions that differ from your own.

  • GUAU QUE SUPER ROLA SE LA DEDICO AMI NOVIA QUE LA QUIERO MUCHO

  • I LOVE NEW YORK...

  • Nicely put together Bloodybones! I'm usre if they had done one, it probably wouldn't have been as good as what you did!

  • brought a tear to my eye

  • RIP Dudley Moore!

  • your a dead man perry! haha my fav part

  • Wouldn't be caught dead in the theater watching the so called new " Arthur " Don't remake perfection. Can't be done. Leave it alone. Remake "Gone with the wind" and put Pauly shore and the lead!! and Lindsey lohan as scarlet.

  • bela canção!!!!

    beautifull song!!!

  • I dont drink.nobody in my family drinks.it affects your decision making. You may be right. I cant decide.

  • This is soooo funny

  • Awesome video. One of my all time favorite movies and movie themes.

  • I just watched the original Arthur movie today w/my boyfriend of 2 years. The relationship between Arthur(not the alcohol, he is sober) & Linda is the kind of love I think my boyfriend & I once had.Watching Arthur 2 on the the Rocks made me sad.I remember our love we once had & according to my boyfriend nothing has changed in his mind. Yep he is so very wrong. And I got a old 1981 movie proving it to me...This song reminds me of the love I want back or want because this ain't working for me.

  • @princesspinkfloyd Go deal with it instead of whining on Youtube.

Amazing movie though. Never saw the second, but I gotta give the remake a try. Just watched this for the first time in years (only my second time) on Netflix. Dudley was brilliant. The butler was cool too.

  • @Ygdrasel Ha I did deal with it. I dumped him and moved out. Thanks, I wasn't whining asshole, I was merely pointing out some truths. I suppose your life is just fantastic and you never second guess things? Asshole

  • @princesspinkfloyd

Well, I sure don't babble on about it to complete strangers that likely won't give a damn. The time wasted telling Youtube your problems could be time spent trying to fix them.

Anywho. I'm off to view the remake, despite extreme skepticism. I shall return with delightful tales of how wretched (or not) it turns out to be.

  • @Ygdrasel I assure you complete strangers have given a damn! I wouldn't expect a peckerhead such as yourself that uploads videos of videogames of his damn self playing them- Mario Brothers and Kirby-What are you a fat and bald middle aged fat head living in Momma's basement that WISHES he could ever have love in life other than video games and writing stupid comments on Youtube-Grow some balls & get your dick out of Donkey Kong's ass.

  • @princesspinkfloyd

You seriously just raided my channel to spew that ignorant crap? Lol...Ya ever make $1000 in a day, without actually working?

  • I posted a comment about "Arthur" about a month ago or more before I saw the new re-make. Well, I saw the remake with Russell Brand, and although it was not as stupid or crappy as I thought it was, it was not "Arthur: 1981. The original is one of the greatest movies of all time and nobody compares to Dudley Moore. He was the best. The cast was excellent. Go watch the new one, but know that the original is the best, and for that matter, one of the best movies of all time.

  • I'm a "Gen-Xer" (whatever that means), born in the early 70s, but grew up in the 80s. Terrible to see how Hollywood continues to remake our vast set of great stand-alone movies: Tron, Clash of the Titans, so on....and now Arthur. Is this new decade to be left without its its own proper cinematic identity???

Just so I am not overly-protecting my wonderful decade, we will see how many awesome movies of the 50s and 60s were re-booted and trashed in the 80s. I hope I am not surprised.

  • R.I.P Dudley Moore we will miss you.

  • Don`t figure i`ll be watching the new film! I`d miss John Gielgud too much..

  • Saw the Russell Brand one last night ! Excellent film .. he was funny and very entertaining ! Loved it ! Haven't seen the old version although Im not sure I really want to after seeing the new one, it was so good ! Lovely film !

  • I absolutley love this movie and was not happy about the new one - but after watching it i have to say Russell Brand does an ok job. The new movie is more of a tribute than a flat out re-make - Which makes it much easier to watch! X

  • this guy showed everybody that even if you're short in stature..you can be a success...Talented and funny....what a shame, he passed on this early..RIP Dudley Moore aka "Arthur"...

  • @010bobby YES, AGREE!

  • I just don't find Liza Minneli as attractive... I can't buy her being the one he falls for... but I think I will watch this whole movie out of curiosity.

  • I was reluctant to see the new one... But it was good!!!

  • i just stopped by to hear the song and seen the comments about the remake and had to agree theres only 1 arthur dont care who they get DUDLEY was and will always be ARTHUR.iol iol INSTANT ON LIGHTING lmao and fabricated half inch pipe TO FUNNY.

  • russel brand is a tosser and smack head you can compare this ar...... with dudley moore. a joke.

  • Great post. This is one of the best movies all time. And probably one of the best songs for a movie ever! These actors at the time were not all that popular, but they nailed it in this movie.

  • nice video :D

  • Hay canciones bellas... Pero ésta... como pocas!

  • Alright, the new movie's actually really good. you just have to see it as a completely new one. Only the basic story line is the same. Of course, its not as good as the original, but theres still a lot of laughs.

  • The first time I saw this film in 1981, I was on a cruise ship in the Caribbean called the Mardi Gras .

  • Plain and simple, the new one is a total insult to the original

  • there will always be one Arthur...that is dudley moore...

  • stammering british fellow, meet judy garland spawn.

ding ding ding went the trolley!

  • LOL @ 3:54 ; Seinfeld's Dad!

  • @davidnaja whoops, make that 3:19

  • I'm in love..with ANOTHER...woman!

  • Your a little strange, but cute.

  • Comment removed

  • As a BIG Fan of the original... I must say... Right noone can replace Dudley Moores timeless performance of Arthur. However, Russell Brand does a pretty good job at a modern twist. Its believable at times. The new movie closely follows the old plot but has some new parts added or changed. Its definatly worth a watch and there are some good laughs in there. No reason to waste your time comparing the two movies, they were done almost 30 years apart. Go watch the New Arthur and have a laugh...

  • @jdmedia The only thing I liked about the new one was the actress who played the poor girl. Greta Gurzig is her name I think.

  • @jdmedia Well said!

  • 2 fucking retards managed to dislike this video or song!?!? WTF is wrong with people? This is when music was music! Not this Bieber shit today that is studio generated! I miss the 70's and 80's really bad! This is when shit was REAL! This song and movie still chokes me up!

  • @AllCop1 Those 2 dislikes are from kids whose parents have never taken the time to expose them to either classic soft rock or classic movies!!!!!!

  • Dudley Moore is irreplaceable as Arthur. I watched this last night (It's been years since I've seen it!) and haven't laughed so hard in a long time. The chemistry was perfect with the entire cast.

  • @ryanna1978 I agree, I here the new one isn't very good. I know one way or another I won't like it as much as the original. Remakes of old classics are usually disappointments. They might be OK on their own, but they can never be as good.

  • i've just watched the trailer for the new 'arthur' movie. i had to stop it half way through. it looks absolutely awful. you really can't even try and remake this movie. the original is nothing but a gem, and russel brand has done a very bad job. hope the movie bombs..

  • @dave1884 me too. I saw it and wasn't at all impressed.

  • Saw the original on DVD night ..... so sad .... Russel Brand is no more than a UK version of Jim Carey in his bad movies!!! NO ONE can't play a rich drunk more than Dudley Moore!!!! hope the remake bombs!!!!

And who in the hell does the song??? "Arthur's theme??"" I hope Christopher Cross gets some royalities!!!!!! And call Liza!! Bet she's pisseD!!! lol

  • this song takes you away to nyc and its magic no matter where u are in this world, i honestly believe u havent lived until u seen manhattan island, i am here in a room in southern ireland dreaming that i am there for the few minutes of this great classic, nyc forever!!!!!!!!!

  • Russell Brand is a talentless sack of shit, where Dudley Moore was one of the most talented, graceful comics of all time. Dudley Moore is 'Arthur'. The movie (original) was sweet, graceful and beautifully made. They should not have remade this great classic. Get original and make new movies instead of spoiling and screwing up classics like "Arthur". Helen Mirren was stupid to have involved herself in this ridiculous piece of shit. I lost all respect for her, She is NOT Hobson!

  • Why in the hell are they remaking this movie? What's wrong with the old one?

  • @RetroJenny nothing, it's just that there's no creativity in Hollywood these days. That's why they're either doing sequels or remakes of classic 80's films.

  • I loved this movie so much! I was 17, and went to see it with my then boyfriend. I knew I wanted to make something out of my life after seeing Arthur, because being on a yacht "doesn't suck", as Arthur put it so eloquently :~)

  • Sorry, but the original intro from the movie is still the best. That scene of him drunk in the Rolls Royce is such a classic.

  • Arthur is my favorite movie...I loved this song the first time I heard it. Russel is no Dudley Moore. The trailers for the remake are terrible.

  • I wish that they could run screenings of the original movies when they redo them, then people could see both and decide for themselves ^_^. Debate aside, great video!

  • One of the best films ever. Dudley Moore R.I.P.

  • Fantastic edit....very well done!! In my favorites.

  • Thier remaking this how lame.

  • How can anyone dislike this song? Its a great 80's classic....setting the mood for a wonderful decade of music..not like now :(

  • @keysersoze78 People dislike anything they can't make themselves. Arthur was done at a time when being anti-establishment was still very much en vogue. At the very bitter end of the cold war when it was soon realized to not be the east or west at fault but those therein both that were divvying up the countries for themselves to make those that were earlier creating shopping centers look bad. It suddenly became a shallow front for shady operations whereas before it was made wholesome for families

  • Dear Hollywood,

quit making remakes from good, classic, movies. make remakes for the movies that need to be remade.

  • @maxkestral9158 - absolutely agree

  • @maxkestral9158 i strongly agree no one could replace dudly moore and his laugh lol loved it

  • @maxkestral9158 i agree, but they should re-advertize the old classics cuz people forget about them :(

  • I agree, Dudley Moore was the only one for this role, who can top that fantastic smile and charm ? Certainly not Russel Brand. I am boycotting this movie. R.I.P. Dudley

  • @rckhenning1 I want to boycott this as much as you do, but I am still going for 2 reasons: to make sure that freak Russell Brand doesn't insult the dead and the second in the good name of Helen Mirren. this is one of my favorite comedies and the those who choose not to see it before they trot on to see the remake, you are cruel. besides, there is one thing that Russell can never do (I hope): that infectous laugh of Dudley's...just hearing it makes me giggle. love from Canada.

  • @maziebunny2

You can't stop any insult Russell Brand might make with your mere presence in the theater. If you go and give your money to the theater to see this, then you're encouraging them to bastardize more movies from a better time. Do you want the remake of Stripes starring Miley Cyrus to be on your head, sir?!

The previews don't make me feel confident. I might go pay for a ticket to another movie and poke my head in for a peek, but beyond that I can wait for Netflix

    .

  • @RabiesBunny well things might change over the course of the next week, but who knows...I may wait unless my sister chooses to go with her friends and I end up tagging along as usual. I still have my spare pass I've been saving for a "bad" movie so no money will be lost if that happens.

and for the record, I'm a madam, thank you.

  • @RabiesBunny A little Russell Brand goes a long way. His opening monologue on SNL was okay he is somewhat charming but he is just so annoyingly upbeat, which is great once in a while, but just sometimes he should take two xanex and just calm the fuck down.

  • @rckhenning1 True don't waste your time with this one, although I did like the actress who played Liza Minelli's part.
