  • even thought tai chi is calm and relaxing,im going to a send a frikkin chi punch at the people who disliked it...

  • This is the real deal but you are all right he is "cheating." Start the video at 3:20 and listen to the explanation, go to 4:40 and WATCH VERY CLOSE... You will see a small popping forward motion that produces "short" power. It is SEQUENTIAL body movement from ground up. You may look like he is moving an 1" but actually moving his entire height, appox FIVE FEET! The reason it works is because the volunteer is TENSE and can carry the vibration into his center. If he was loose, nothing happens.

  • thank you

  • Relaxaion creates dead weight. Followed by concepts similar to Bruce Lee's one inch puch. Fa Jin-- Concentrate, focus, Relax, sink and Chi will flow.

  • nice - thank you sir

  • Thankyou so much for this video.

  • I felt inspired when I saw this three part lesson many months ago. For someone like me who loves tai chi chuan it's simply marvelous seeing real fajin. Thank you very much for your generosity Mr. Phillips!

  • The cameraman is a plant, or he has seen what the other "student" did in parts 1 and 2 and he played along. Michael Philips is a joke and he is the reason tai chi has the image that it does. Tai Chi is a martial art that requires a lot of pain and hard work -- and physical body mechanics that are different than external arts, but they aren't mystical. I hope I meet Philips sometime. I'll give him $5,000 if he can bounce me away by recreating this stupid fake video.

  • @kungfukennyg I dunno about this guy, but my Shifu back in China is 80 years old, a head shorter than me, and is able to throw me 3 meters back by pushing me. I'm 1.77, 80kg. Go figure.

  • @Soger91 I know how your shifu does it. It isn't with a pulse of energy. I don't know you and can't determine if you're faking it with the teacher or not. I have to take you at your word until I see video. The people in these videos are playing along, and if the same thing happens to you, you're playing along, too. None of these people will admit playing along, and the teacher won't admit that he's misleading the public. But he is, and they are.

  • @kungfukennyg Kenny, I respect your skill, mainly because the applications you show are decent enough. But how can you diss this vid, when you demonstrate similar methods of uprooting etc, as Mr. Phillips?! How can he be fake, whereas what you're doing is somehow real?! Admittedly, Phillips has much stronger root and fajing, but what, in your mind, is the determining or principal difference btwn this, and what you're doing??

  • @piaten Because there's no transfer of force that's equivalent to the reaction. This is not possible. It's a fraud. I'm sorry. I would give him $10,000 on the spot if he did it to me. And you can consider that a challenge.

  • @kungfukennyg Thanks for your prompt and helpful reply. While we probably don't see eye to eye on this issue, your sincerity is much appreciated, and I will take it with me when further studying the martial arts! Let me know if he takes you up on the challenge

  • @piaten You're a good person. It isn't about seeing eye to eye, however. All you have to do is do what this "cameraman" is doing and have the "master" make the same movement, and there is no way you're going to hop up in the air like that unless you're simply being dishonest. This is dishonesty, and the sad thing is -- it doesn't matter if you're preaching religion, scamming old ladies who think they're buying aluminum siding, or this type of garbage, someone is always going to believe. Sad.

  • @kungfukennyg I will take that challenge please. I live in NYC but will travel and pay my own transportation anywhere within the USA, Canada, or Mexico.

  • @dmd888 I'm in Moline, Illinois. Look up my email on my website and come on over.

  • @kungfukennyg Make sure you have my money ready. I want it in writing and guaranteed. Please send contract to Metal888nyc@gmail.com

  • @dmd888 I didn't realize that was Michael Phillips' email address.

  • $100 says you can't do that to me. These guys are conditioned to be obligingly polite and cooperative. Newtonian physics beats Oriental mysticism any day.

  • @Duende402

If you're talking about physics, I'd like to remind you that M-Theory says there's 11 dimensions, meaning there is much more to the world your senses can reach. If you believe in quantum mechanics, you basically believe in teleportation and many other metaphysical happenings that would be called esoterism or magic.

Einstein said: The mind is a parachute, it works when it is open.

  • Wow that was impressive.

    Nice technique. Classic forever.

MMA-only supporters have no idea of these things.

  • Hi Sifu Philips, Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. I am wondering if there is a way to contact you. Thank you.

  • wow jedi power

  • nice v ideos

  • I am lucky that I have Michael as my teacher...after more than 2 decades of learning from various teachers, Chinese & American, I have finally found someone who not only knows what he is doing, (real taiji internal stuff!), but can explain in English & give exercises that allow not only myself but even my new students to get it! If one is lucky, you'll get a chance too meet this man.

Ray Abeyta, Texas School of Tai Chi - El Paso, TX

  • @TaiChiTex Hi Ray I was looking at this 6 months ago and keep coming back to it .can you point me in the right direction as to how to train with Michael Philips .does he work shop in the UK ? are there any books ? thanks

  • hi michael, thank you for this video...ive been doing martial arts for 30 years and your explanation was really helpful...my training in yang taichi (under master sung ong...who was senior student of master shen huang) was only 3 years but i felt like i was taught nothing... i rationalized it as perhaps appropriate for the great tao of emptiness or something..but all the same the techniques eluded me...

i wonder where i can learn your method..it is the clearest method ive found online!

  • They're aren't many or almost none good instructors in China, most of them moved to the U.S. etc.

Like here in Europe we have f.e. Dan Docherty which is just brilliant.

I'm getting a feeling that in China, Tai Chi Chuan is turned into some dance to get healthy

  • OK I want to do this authentic technique how do I get the correct training and information it Michael?

  • @Fishpigg u need nothing u must only have pupils who will jump if u do.this man is like that he has loyal pupils who are under light hypnosis because that they jump all other so called chi man if they use strong hypnosis they will jump more comically:))they cant do it to fighters they are strong in mind.this is so fake.

  • Okay. So I just went through his bio and found out that he was certified as an instructor by Mantak Chia... MANTAK CHIA!!! No wonder why he was able to lift his leg and not even be moved an inch.

  • "WTF!! WTF!!! WTF!!!" is what I said when he lifted his foot. O_O All skepticism just vanished in an instant.

  • accept no substitutes for the genuine and authentic, the teacher will appear when you are ready. or you must see him our. I can't remember, maybe both work

  • Any tips on how to accomlish this kind of rooting? Brilliant

  • Very good explanation and demonstration of some of the principles. I like the very down-to-earth manner of presentation. Sadly, there seems to be very little understanding of the Art at this level throughout the world.

  • Good Stuff. What style do you practice

  • Very Cool!

  • all good stuff! real taiji

  • This video cracks me up, because I've seen him do this to people in real life... it's just ridiculous how powerful Michael is. Inspires me to get back to the practice.

  • 5:55

Your video pre-dates the Beijing Olympics.

The Chinese beat the rest of the world at the games the rest of the world plays, and which they had to learn first to then beat us at them.

As you rightly say, why haven't more Westerners learnt their physical and athletic skills?

    Laziness!

Thanks for this hugely educational and beautifully delivered series of three videos.

  • much of that stank of cheating though ;)

  • It's a knack that's all.

It's taking load through the skeleton to still have the muscles available.

They're not holding the body up.

It's a rebound that is of the moment.

The knack is to know that moment by feel.

Hence the practice of push hands.

  • i was referring to the beijing olympics lol go back and watch the boxing matches for example and see how many points were fraudulantly awarded, or not awarded to the non chinese fighters.

  • Yeah..I'm impressed too. There are a lot of vids out there where I think ..oh yeah...as if, but this is convincing. I want to learn Tai Chi now.

    Great...Thanks!

  • this is true fajin

  • this is great!

  • I am impressed!!!
