@wiiagent If your art's really good you can't really compare it to Jeff Smith's or any artist, but I get what you mean. Set a flexible date when you want to be as good as him change the word "hope" to "faith" and you'll DEFINITELY be as good as him.

hi, i have just purchased my first cintiq tablet and was wondering how you colour calibrated your cintiq tablet. My colour from my laptop and cintiq are completely different.

I have an intuos. I'm looking to trade it in because I tried a Cintiq and found out that I draw much easier on a tablet if I can just look down at it.

start with a wacom bamboo, its cheap and you can get a feeling for it. If you're good at drawing with the bamboo you don't need a cintiq to draw your comicbook. ;) Its like with cars: You can buy an Audi A3 or R8. Sure its more comfortable, cooler and faster with a R8, but its more possible that you get the money for an A3 than a R8 and the result is pretty much the same...

I have a Wacom bamboo and I'm not that great with drawing with it but I compensate with using the Pen tool :)

Cintiq adds precision, something you can't do in ordinary Photoshop.

The draft is done in pencil anyway.

can anybody tell me how do you speed up a video like he is doing but at the sametime the music goes at a regular speed? or unless he knows how to draw at that speed. which i don't think is possible. i want to do that with my wacom cintiq 12wx videos too.

@movinon20: There's all sorts of ways to speed it up. For instance, if you originally captured the video at something like 15 frames per second, then all you have to do take it from 15 to 30 (Without interpolation) in VirtualDub or something. As for the music, that's easy. You add the audio track AFTER you've edited and sped-up the video.

I am curious about how long it took you to color the whole comic book. To me this seems like a totally exhausting work. Already coloring this single picture shows a part of a tedious work. I do not want to be in your skin.

well i mean, if my artwork doesnt turn out the way i wanted it too, i get pissed off sometimes, but if i keep retrying and get it right u get that accomplished feeling.

i agree, i've been drawing since i could pick up a pencil and i absolutely love it and never get sick of it and its what i'd like to do for a living someday, this cintiq device is awesome and i'd love to own one

A wacom cintiq comes in 2 sizes. The largest is 22 inc I think, and costs around 2300euro I believe.

@SilverSilhouetteGirl: $1999 for the 21.3" display (The Cintiq 21UX) or the 20" widescreen. (20WSX). There's also the smaller 12" widescreen model. (12WX) for $999.

The 12WX might have been a nice on-the-go model to pair with a laptop, if they'd made it any more portable than the others... As it is, the only benefit is the lower price, and you're probably better off saving for a bigger ones anyway.

beautiful work...but i have to ask...in real time, how long did it take him to color a simple shot of the girl's head? It must've taken a long time since its in time lapse. Is that really an efficient colorist? it must be since he's a pro working on a published book. It just seems like too much spent time on one simple panel.
