That Xbox is only loud because the previous owner converted the fans from 5v to 12v i have done this to both of my 360's and they sound identical to the one in the video.

I'm in the market for the 360 and wasn't sure whether or not to get the Elite or Pro. This helps in partly making my decision. I didn't realize how loud the Pro was, mind you, since you got it of eBay, it could have been modded. Nevertheless, in my spec research, I found the Elite better buy and have heard the Pro craps out a lot because of memory capability.

My xbox 360 is a Sept.2008 pro with hdmi port and its only loud when playing older 360 games, some newer games sound quieter when running. When idle though it sound just as quite as my PS3 slim, next to it. I install most games to keep it quite till I get a Slim model. Note. If you have an older 360 install the games you play most and longest to avoid overheating. mines is vertical by the way 3-4 years old.

I think you should add an annotation or something stating that the Pro console has the 12v fan mod because it's simply not true that a normal working 360 is that loud at boot up. Especially considering they are both falcons they should sound identical.

good video, i could tell you had good intentions............ the fact is that the drive is making the noise, on the elite they changed it,,,,,,,, notice that on the elite when you start a game it gets louder, that should had been a clear indication that it was the disc drive,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,if you want to eliminate the noise, install the game , and the disc drive will not be in use

guys there's no mechanical stuff in the 360 dvd drive that could make that kinda sound and if it does make that sound when you insert your game disc then you will most definitely end up with a heavily scratched unplayable disc mate. Okay you have it mixed up bro, the Tray holds the games and the Drive is the Harddrive that saves the games and etc. You are right though that fans cause the noise, but the elite sounds almost as bad when reading discs, if they are not downloaded directly to the Harddrive.

Opening the dvd drive doesnt prove anything.You have to put a game disc in and if your 360 elite gets louder its 9/10 the dvd drive making more noise then the fans thats normal,now that pro is defective.A 360 is loud but not that damn loud.
