I am a 2 sport athlete in college its my freshman year and since recieving a concussion the first week of football i have had pcs for 7 months now and it is extremely frustrating. The only symptom i get is headaches but with the workload at my school they never go away. Things like TV Video games and alcohol consumption contribute to the headaches, so pretty much anything fun you could do as a college student has been taken away from me. Im now missing lacrosse and its killing me.
Hi there, I am three and half years pcs, There have been big improvements in my life but i am still left with good days and bad days the noise, bright lights, stc are still a problem for me but I have a constant pressure in the right side of my brain and every few weeks it gets worse, I describe it like my brain being put in to a vice and squeezed. If anyone else has this pressure build up and has found some treatment for it could you please let me know.
I just got diagnosed with post concussive syndrome a month ago and no symptoms have gone away yet I'm still having bad headaches and dizziness everyday and I have fallen 5 times now. I have a hard time speeking sometimes and have a hard time focusing and finding the right words to say. It's the worse feeling in the world for me, I feel like an idiot.
I have a Brain Injury from concussions. We are not alone, and it is not fun. I have some videos on my experience, please check them out and leave a comment, or subscribe. @darkusmarkus808 thank you for sharing and teaching
i'm in the middle of a post Concussion Syndrome, and it feels good to not be the only one. I passed out in class 4 days after my intial concussion I obtained through football, trying to tough it out. it's horrible, i absolutely hate not being able to do my usual activitys and functions. it's been a week and a half, and i just want to get all ofthe headaches, nausea, and dizziness gone with! I'm gaining my memory back, but it's slow. I just thank God to be alive; not paralyzed. Thank you!
i had a TBI approx 2001 and have slowly deteriorated since and didnt link it back to the TBI until recently.....i discovered everything is begining to add up......a clip i found interesting was ...........watch?v=h18hRlN-8Hw.............and also check out.........website- ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1978466/........< put w w w in front of this........hope it gives some answers to folk suffering from similar.
I go through the same exact problems but there is hope ...All of the symptoms are psychiatric that require meds that relax the brain and nerves..Clanazapam can make you depressed but you won't go through the symptoms anymore..Excederin migrane and Risperdol Constant injections as well like me..
Hi, I have been suffering pcs for 18 months now. I see progress, however, whenever I do the slightest bit of over exertion (too much walking) I set myself way back. Therefore, I have been unable to do much at all. The most frustrating thing ive ever had to deal with. I was wondering if anyone has experienced a head pressure w their pcs. I guess it can be considered a headache but it's more of a dull pressure than an ache in frontal and center of my head. It's the one symptom that has yet to go
i am going through pcs right now. didn't think i had such a bad injury, after all i didn't lose consciousness or have amnesia. but 3 weeks later i'm still getting headaches, feel lightheaded, can't sleep at night and feel fatigued all day
@v8americanpower1 , I still suffer from headaches almost two years later. They have decreased to some degree, but can still be debilitating. I am going for Botox injections this week, hoping it will make a difference. Best of luck to you!
My friend had a car accident about 10 days ago and suffered from a concussion. He didn't get any fracture to the skull and recovered quite well but as you said he sleeps day and night and still feels tired, right now he is sleeping as well. I really miss his company as he used to be a very active person and hardly used to sleep. apart from that there are some serious behavioral changes and he has even tried to sexually abuse his sister in law.
also are you on any drugs, I've been taking nortriptyline, which seams to help, but have had side effects, like rashes, upset stomach and dry mouth, as well as a overall feeling of numbness, especially in the mornings? how long was it before you came of the pain killers if your not still taking them?
@adamshortall , I stopped the pain killers several months after the initial accident. I was switched to medications to alleviate the dizziness, nausea, and headaches. The second course of medication has changed several times over the last year and I am only recently off of all meds. I am trying Botox injections this week to try and alleviate the headaches. Best of luck to you, be strong!
Hi mark, thanks for your response, sounds like you have had it a fair bit sore than me. It's been 3.5 months now since I fell and cracked my skull, and I've been back at work as a design engineer for the past 3 weeks on a part time basis working Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and for the first week or so I spent the other days sleeping most of the day and feeling very tired, its getting better now and I can so more each week, but as you know its a long road. I'm only 23 so I think that has helped.
I agree with the comment below (don't have to cuss, tho)...stay off meds...I am suffering from PPCS (Prolonged PCS) as my symtpoms have continued now for over 15 months. I was in a car accident, got triple whiplash, a mild concussion (don't think I blacked out, if so, only a few seconds), a fracture on my spine and 2 bulging discs, which have now led to a 3rd bulging disc. I TOTALLY APPRECIATE YOUR VIDEO -- TY! I too am seeing progress. I have had 2 rounds of PT, ongoing MT & Chiro. Thanks!
Hi mark , can I ask how long it was before you were able to go back to work. I had a concussion and have been off work for 8 weeks now, with heads aches, tiredness etc just like you described. Just looking for a reference really and did going back to work slow your recovery you think?
@adamshortall - I now have PPCS, because my PCS has lasted over a year, but I continue to see progress and attribute the long-lastedness to my age (45) & the multiplicity of my injuries. I am now working 2-3 days a week (sometimes have to lay down in the middle of the day, usually on my lunch break), but have much less headaches and tiredness, thankfully. I did not work at all for 5 months after my accident. Hope you're feeling better, but if not, take it easy and do light exercise. Take care!
@adamshortall I meant - I am currently working 1 day/wk & my goal is 2-3. I also Home Educate our 2 children & take care of our household - having 4 kiddos - and am able to cook/clean most days again now. :)
Thanks for posting this video. We live in PEI and my wife is also sufferring from PCS. She got hit on the head on August 16th 2009. ( 2 days before your incident) and she is still dealing with all the symptoms. Listening to your story is somewhat refreshing knowing that we are not alone..! Our next step is to see a physiatrist here in Charlottetown. We hope he will be able to assist during this long painful recovery. Good luck to you and stay positive!!
@lazer645 - I now have PPCS (Pro-longed PCS) after being rear-ended 15 months ago...I too continue to see progress, thankfully! I am very hopeful of total recovery - in Jesus' name AMEN! :) I've had 2 rounds of PT, taken no meds, other than IBUP for the headaches, and thankfully they are MUCH less! :) This has been quite a journey, never heard of it before this accident. I am currently working 1 day/wk, doing housework, cooking and under the care of a Neurologist. You are definitely not alone!
