Really thought provoking and bias on Bill Maher's part. He cared about no one's opinion but his own. Same as extremely religious and close minded people, where it's their way or the high way, is what I see in Bill Maher. So he's no better than any of the people he interviewed. In fact, I felt as though he portrayed everyone, but those who agreed with him, as ignorant. He really had no respect for most the people in this film and tried to make a joke out of them. Pathetic.

Mr. Maher is only good at taking a cheap shot. It's easy to make the sort of arguments he does. You know, the kind that come into play during discussions that crop up in public restrooms inspired by the graffiti on the walls. It would only be academically honest for him to refer to his film as a mockumentary, but he instead calls it a documentary, as if to imply that he has done some research. This film is just a vehicle for him to vent his own distain for people of faith. Nothing more or less.

Its good to have some sort of reference for a moral compass, and it helps people to feel like someone has their back, especially if its a guy who can hurl lightning bolts from the sky. I believe that the creation theory actually supports the evolution theory as there must have been a design in mind to reach the level of sophistication we have. To think we evolved from monkeys makes me laugh. Same as suddenly walking upright or some of the amazing senses that have been developed. What would the inbetween stages look like and what purpose would they serve, if I try hard enough to fly will my grandchildren develop wings? It is by design of course it is.....

Honestly, I think religious people who hate on atheists are just as bad as atheists who hate on religious people. If there is a God, no one can ever prove it. Believers need to accept that no matter how right they think they are, others will always refuse the possibility of God. Conversely, non-believers need to accept that religion is greatly important to many people. Even if you think those people are stupid, you have to let them be happy and not try to logic them out of their faith.

The teachings of Jesus come across as peaceful when you study them....often humans have just taken those teachings and twisted them to get whatever they want. But people do that with every other institution (government, education, health care, etc.). It seems to me that humans like to twist things for their own benefit.

Not to defend Christianity (the biggest fairy tale on the planet), but if you consider the HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of people who were murdered in furtherance of Islam (in the name of Mohammed), the followers of Jesus were a flea bite compared to the Great White Shark festival that is the spread of Islam.

If Irish Nationalists were fighting for an exclusively catholic state why were so many of their greatest leaders, both political and military, protestant? or in some cases even atheist? the reason is because it was a more complex dispute than simply religion.

1. I am a huge fan of Michener. Centennial was my favorite of his.
2. It's "cruelty," and as much as I am happy to declare that Christianity has been profoundly cruel to bizarre numbers of people, it still doesn't hold a candle to Islam in terms of psychotic heathen barbarism.
