  • Poetry. Who wrote these beautiful words?

  • This brings tears in my eyes..

  • Some of the greatest lyrics i ve ever heard....

  • what two people would dislike this video, how disrespectful for Ronnie. your no men

  • Excellent Spanish Guitar in the backround

  • I had the biggest kick ever as I saw the Dubliners , in Dublin.

Oh my G..... what memories I have after all this years,

being a Beatles fan as I was at that time.

I have cds and dvds, but my memories from Dublin will live for ever.

  • Does anyone have the lyrics?

  • beautiful.

  • such a great song

  • Very nice piece of music. The lyrics tell the stories of thousands, it could've been written about anyone's great/grandfather. It captures the sadness and frustration but also the sense of getting on with it, that so many Irishmen did after returning from war. It's nice the Dubs paid tribute to them, they should never be forgotten.

  • Does anyone know the lyrics? The lyrics they sing in this version. I want the part when he sing something about "struggling for your bread", or something like that. I've looked through google, but without any luck. Just found, what I suppose, the original lyrics.

  • @tobeygun you will find a version of this song titled The Old Mans Song on a cd called I am the common man by Scottish group The Laggan.

  • Hitler was that boy that came and he thought them how to fight (at 2 22) i am not a Nazional Socialist, just Socialist. (red front by the way)

  • RED FRONT POWER!

We'll see us the Revolution day, comrade!

  • PLEASE does anybody know if this out on any live DVD, I would be very gratful if someone knows the answer, with thanks

  • Unfortunately there is no official release with this song performed live on it.

  • Man, one thing about the dubliners. You can always find something you never heard before that is just as amazing as the rest.

  • True, True.. best ever

  • RIP RONNIE AND LUKE

  • when he mentiond the lad who was called to fight in nam, just send a shiver down my spine

if there is a god surely he loves Ronnie Drew, the dubliners and those sainthearted people who put this art on youtube

    god bless you, evry one

  • He loves you too :)

  • lets hope so, if he does hes bound to give us all front row tickits to Ronnies tour in Heaven

  • ronnie drews statue should be in o.connell street, and it should be higher than that stupid spire!!!

  • It should replace that eye sore...whoever thought putting a giant needle in dublin city centre should be shot

  • This may well be Ronnies finest vocal...you can hear the anger and sadness in the voice.

The words are still so true and relevant today.

  • I think it will take a few years before all Irish realize what this man meanth for Ireland and then raise a statue...!

  • and in others countries too

  • hi there!

I always find you on these vids...

    :)

  • "I think it will take a few years before all Irish realize what this man meanth for Ireland and then raise a statue...!

I hope so here in the USA. Many millions of Irish music fans here.

  • Ronnie Drew

    One true legend.

    I luv ya

  • I don't know much about the Dubliners, the Irish, folk music, or Ronnie. What I do know however, is that there's nothing which seperates this man from anybody like Robbie Williams, Elvis Presley, or Johnny Cash... all brilliant musicians. Except the others all had fame and money. But it doesn't stop these words being so true, and it doesn't stop the music being so brilliant.

  • We miss you already Ronnie.

    Ronnie suaimhneas síoraí.

  • R.I.P Ronnie you were one of the best

  • god bless u ronnie my friend

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam

  • thanks very much for this post! i've long been a great fan of the dubs and especially ronnie's "spoken verse" songs...outstanding!

  • What a one off guy Ronnie is... all songs sung played and sung by the man seem to fit his personality and nobody could ever have his sound or style.... play and sing for always Ronnie, none could or ever be him.

A great addition dubliner85 thankyou for sharing.
