  • @FilmandTVMaker Lol yeah you mad cuz I'm not a green nut job. Il get u a box of Kleenex now

  • LED lights are probably good if you wana save energy but im not sure about the lifetime. I've heard several people tell me that LEDs dont last all that long. i personally do not like LEDs because of their light quality. I dont care what anyone says, LEDs or CFLs will never have the warmth and beauty that incandescents have. Government and the rest of these tree huggers need to stop deciding for people what bulbs we can buy. Its my house, my rules. All these eco green terrorists can kiss my ass

  • There is a great documentary on youtube called, The Light Bulb Conspiracy. In the documentary they showed the world's lonest burning light bulb in Livermore, California. It turned 100 years old back in 2001 and it is still working. The Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department has had birthday parties for it.

  • @SolarDetail 100 year old light bulb has nothing too do with it being a waste of energy. awesome that it lasted 100 years but its 99% inefficient and produces more heat then light. oh also the filament is much thicker in that light bulb and would not burn out like a typical modern incandescent.

  • @FilmandTVMaker who really gives a shit how "inefficient" incandescents are. Incandescents still and will ALWAYS have its place. your so called "CFL" bulb doesnt even last as long as you greenies says it does. they last just about as long as a standard bulb, its full of toxic mercury and their lighting quality is crap. Also take into account how long it takes for it to come to full brightness. Thankfully, MOST ppl can see how brain damaged u eco friendly nut jobs are.

  • @noreaga12326 my CFLS? how are they my CFL/ i never said to use CFLS, i never endorsed them and never told anyone to use them, so why are you getting upset. Light bulbs are not a right nor freedom. they are not protected by any law, constitution or any privileged people. Wasting energy costing the country billions, draining our power needs and creating heat instead of light? how is this a good thing, Halogen and LEDS are a much better choice then incandescent. pathetic yank.

  • @noreaga12326 some idiot thinks its his right as an American to own light bulbs lol wow you really just showed us how stupid and naive you are, thank you retard. bwahahahha no wonder they dropping the no child left behind, too many are.

  • @FilmandTVMaker awww look at how mad i got u.. im angry? look at how crazy YOU'RE going. You're whinning like a little girl because ppl like me wont follow your stupid green scams. If it were up to people like u, we'd have to report to government if we wanted to eat, shit, or have sex. why do u care about how much energy others use in their houses? worry about YOUR energy uses and quit meddling in other ppls business. Its my house and my rules. Keep going crazy, lib-tard, i love making u suffer

  • @FilmandTVMaker Perhaps, LEDs will be great lighting alternative in the future, however, if they're good lighting alternatives, consumers will buy them without government having to play the mommy and daddy role, telling people what they can use for their homes. I'm the guy who pays the bills and owns the house. therefore, I WILL decide how much energy i wana use. I got hundreds of boxes of incandescents stocked up. I bet you wana call the light bulb police on me now.. lib-tard! :D

  • @FilmandTVMaker if you're not proud of your home and u wana save money to light your house with ugly, glooomy light, knock yourself out. That doesnt mean the rest of us are going to be nut jobs and do the same. If you're so concerned about energy usage, u should write a letter to obama asking him why he leaves his lights on in the whitehouse all day and night. So while "wasting energy" sitting under my nice, cozy incandescent bulbs, u can have your gloomy, shit colored bulbs. Please post more

  • @noreaga12326 wow you are a pathetic little idiot, now tying obama to light bulbs and how a landmark has lights on????? WHAt does the white house having lights on (which are halogen by the way :) all outside are not incandescent :)) have to do with normal house hold use? also tying what political party you belong to and light bulb use? what a douche. i guess conservatives are all wasting idiots like you. bwahahaahaha moron scared little boy

  • @noreaga12326 next you will say light bulbs are the reason we have obamacare. and that we should end that because it makes us use less light? have u ever been to a lighting store? or seen what most houses use for light? most new kitchen installations for a decade have used halogen for their lighting track options. pot lights are not incandescent and most lights are not normal bulbs anyway. lamps and maybe bathrooms have incandescent or some shitty ikea lamp, and your rented apartment.

  • @FilmandTVMaker i love it how i can ruin your day.. keep whinning and name calling.. this is what all you liberals do.. Someone disagrees with u and yal go crazy.. i love it! Once again, what business is it of yours what Me and other people use in our homes. All you greenies are so paranoid on what we do, instead of encouraging, u wana FORCE products on ppl. White house uses halogens? Since when?? Obama is also a democ-rat and we know that democrats like to control the lives of ppl ...

  • @FilmandTVMaker and yes, obama is part of this green scam as well.. Check out a video of him on how he wants the world to become more "green" by using ugly efficient lighting. People like u go crazy because MOST citizens are smart enough not to fall for your moronic green scams. Again, if cfls, leds are a good alternative, consumers will buy them. Its not up to government on how much energy i use in MY house, its MY house rules. If u dont appreciate freedom, move to Cuba. i bet ur more mad now

  • @noreaga12326 you are pathetic , thanks for again proving my point. oh and thanks for copy and pasting my comment back, Silly little guy you are such a joke. troll more for your kicks to circle jerk too. please don't be the one child left behind.

  • @FilmandTVMaker lol.. copying and pasting what??? What kind of grass are u smoking this time... hippy boy...u just proved that you have no answers or comebacks to my my last post. i got u going so crazy, all u can do is say"you're pathetic" or "you're silly". I bet your blood is boiling knowing that me and most ppl will still use incandescents. Oh by the way, i have hundreds of them stocked up so i have enough to last me a lifetime.bet you and your greenie friends are gona get a heart attack now

  • @noreaga12326 yes you are pathetic, circle jerk win for u. stop pounding the screen in anger, it'll be ok little one.

  • @FilmandTVMaker oh how clever.. now you wana play reverse psychology because YOU'RE the one whos upset that most ppl think your a nut job for believing that cfls will "save the planet". you're like a angry little girl who goes crazy because u dont get your way. I love it! Please post more, angry little boy. I love watching u suffer on a utube video

  • @noreaga12326 BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH Again you keep saying i like CFLs? When did i say that? There are many different options for lighting, but you're too stupid to know that. Get a education silly little yank.. keep pounding the screen little guy, I Own u.

  • @FilmandTVMaker Again, if there are different options, then THE PEOPLE will buy them.. right? with that being said, why is it any of the governments business to decide for the ppl what light bulbs they can buy? Yes, keep pounding on your keyboard cuz ur mad. you're a typical commie lib-tard. instead of posting like an adult, you wana attack those who disagree with your views. So with that being said, I OWN U. Send me more posts so i can watch u suffer some more. im enjoying this

  • @noreaga12326 So now you copy an paste my "I Own U" WOW Pathetic. whats even funnier is you try and take the moral high ground by trying to act like your not trolling all over youtube about lightbulbs bwahahahahah the proof is in your lame ass comments moron. Troll harder for you circle jerk....

  • @FilmandTVMaker Halogens are an OK alternative for energy saving lights, however im sure you know that in 2020, a stricter efficiency standard is coming into play which MIGHT even ban halogens. So that efficiency standard may ban MOST incandescent bulbs except for the ones that are excempt. next you're going to tell me that incandescent bulbs are contributing to "climate change". I wana see what kind of moronic post you're gona post now.. i need a good laugh here

  • NARCISSISM IN OVERDRIVE ! ! ! LESS COFFEE DUDE!!!

  • led is cool lamps but still expensive.

  • can get cfls for 1.00

  • I have all LED bulbs at my house. The up front cost was high. But I am hoping not to change a bulb for years.

  • I heard that CFL lights get wear as their turned on and off (cycles) while LED's are not effected. I have had LED's that go out. I believe that there are "cheap" LED's that don't last long and there are probably "quality" LED's last longer.

  • I get free cfl bulbs from my local library when I borrow a wat meter. I have so many bulbs that they will last me a lifetime and more.

  • OMG; Chris an has an indoor water closet.

  • What LED bulbs do you recommend, Chris? Do you have any particular brand that you purchase?

  • @bcambron92 - whatever's most affordable at the time. :)

  • can u believe rednecks watch this show too :)

  • Wake up and find 'ooh I'm dead!'

  • In bathrooms, is cheaper to use incandecents.

  • Mushroom shaped bulbs are going to have a built-in mind control device.

Patent 6506148 on the gov site.

As for the environment, its more masonic propaganda.

The UN is puppeteering the U.S.

  • The life of an LED is inversely proportional to the heat of the room. While they may be cool to touch the heatshinks get very hot and dramatically reduce the life of the lamp. So dont believe the 50000 hour shit they try to sell you. I will admit LED will eventually take over but it is still along way away from the 300 lumen/watt that in theory it can achieve (at the moment 80 lumens/watt)

  • lol LED are the fifth most efficient light source......so awkward. I am an electrical engineer in building services and we have lighting rep come nearly every week to try and sell them to us. The problem with LED is that they have poor distribution, they have a narrow beam angle so at a 2.7m ceiling height you can effectively double the amount of lights you would need to get and good uniformity. Also LED only last longer if you live in a cool environment with cool roof temps.

  • I made the switch, 100% to CFL bulbs a year or two ago. And now most of them have burned out, quite disappointed with them. So I'm planning to start switching over the LED at some point. Even if you save money in the long run, you still need to have the money for that initial investment.

  • I use CFLs, but I am planning on replacing most of my lights with LEDs. At least some, and the rest when they become cost effective.

  • i use incandescent but don't leave my lights on all that much so they stay good for a long time.

  • Comment removed

  • These videos seem very USA-focused (understandable). Here in Australia fluro bulbs are now the Eco-norm. I'll check at work tomorrow if we sell LED bulbs as I'm not sure.

  • i would spend a shit load of money upfront for all the bulbs in my house, i dont feel like forking out money every few months or so on cheap bulbs

  • Well the CFLs of my bathroom stop working one by one so we needed to replace them from the old still working incandescent bulbs because we didn't have time and money.

  • The last thing I want is the government to tell me what I can and cannot buy when it comes to something as silly as a light bulb. Doesn't congress have better things to do, like manage that 15 trillion dollar debt problem?

  • @Rocketsaway1 I agree let the market decide if incandescent bulbs are not worth buying. I have just one bulb in each room of my home and they last me a long time and they don't use that much energy not enough that it would make fiscal since to buy new bulbs that are so much more expensive and in my experience dim in comparison.

  • i used to have 303 views like you, then i took an arrow in the knee

  • Our government is turning into a fucking communist thing

  • @SSHPCS2 Couldn't agree more!

  • THOSE FREEDOM HATING NAZIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nope. But I'll use them when the are as cheap incandescent.

  • I'm having issue of finding led bulbs that put out the same amount of light as the 60W bulbs. That has been the only thing that is keeping me for going fully LED.

  • I agree LEDs are the future but it is not the governments job to tell us what we can and cant buy. When LEDs become more cost effective the market will phase them out. For you Idiots who love the government telling you what you can and cant do.... move to North Korea.

  • @banshee8989 Completely agree

  • @banshee8989

But why NOT get rid of them? CFLs and LEDs can replicate whatever color temp your incandescents have, they're more durable, they are less environmentally damaging, they will save you a lot of money over their lifetimes (they pay for themselves usually within a quarter of their lifespan), and LEDs have an instant startup time, with no hum. In this case, it makes sense to get rid of them. I can't imagine why you'd still want them around.

  • @banshee8989 Yes! What about protecting my constitutional right to use energy wasting bulbs?

  • If the government wants to help the move to energy saving light bulbs, they should consider subsidizing the manufacture of these energy saving bulbs in the USA, not banning incandescents! For the price of 1 GOOD LED bulb, I can buy around 50 incandescents. If they weren't so expensive, I would have made the switch for all my lights long ago , and I don't think I'm alone! Still, I don't use 100W bulbs anyway. 40W-60W is normally plenty for me.

  • @PapaBearPW I would also like to point out I have used 100W bulbs for more than just my house lights. for example I use it to keep my pipes from freezing in my pump house. I could use a heat lamp but there more expensive and use more Watts. I feel that sometimes people forget, including Criss, that not everyone has the same life stile as themselves.

  • i've used cfls and leds for about 2 1/2 years. i have a large house,I've seen considerable saving in my light bill.

  • I have Fire on my tree. Back to the roots

  • LED is not very bright.. I tryed to change to LED but I have trouble lighting a room with them..

  • I prefer incandescent bulbs... I will go LED in the future, I am sure, though.

  • I switched to CFL light bulbs probably 3 years ago, with the exception of 2 incandescent ceiling lights, which refuse to burn out, and a florescent light fixture in my kitchen ceiling.

  • I use LED and florescent tubes. I haven't used those old fashion bulbs in years. Not just because of the energy expense but because they simply don't last very long.

  • I stopped using filament bulbs years ago. I use cfl bulbs atm. I will replace them with LEDs as i run out. My experience of cfls is that they don't last anywhere near as long as is claimed, and they can give off an annoying buzzing sound sometimes. Unfortunately I have loads of them, as I stock up on special offers. It'll be years before I run out of cfls.

  • CFL's are designed to be on for a long period of time, not to be turned on, off, on, off, on, off constantly... I don't know why, it's actually kind of stupid that they designed a light bulb that way, especially for home use. Oh well, what do I know?

  • @dielan44 As you may know the bulb was simply designed to be a bulb. The variants for offices, stores, factory's extra are wonderful but I see that for home use there abysmal. Oh yes i love my lights to be dim, tinted yellow and buzz. Its what I always wanted. HE LIES.

  • @PFCVoshell Although I agree that the dim tinted yellow color is nice... I'm 99% sure that the same effect can be obtained through LED lights... LEDs already come in many various colors.

  • SAW LEAD STATOR....TILL DEATH..

  • Who INVENTED THE LIGHT BULB...EDISON or Franklin...? LOL

  • I seriously don't remember when was the last time we've used incandescent light bulbs on our Christmas tree. LED all the way!

  • LED Light Bulbs <3 :D

  • Im all for saving energy, most of my incandescent bulbs are gone, though I miss the yellow glow you got with them. Can't they tint them yellowish so they don't look so bluish white?

Even in this video Chris probably looks paler than he did under the old bulbs.

  • In Canada, the heat from incandescent bulbs, makes it more energy efficient in the winter, less work for the furnace

  • @blaixx992 shh you'll ruin his façade the everyone is upper middle class Americans living somewhere where snow is almost a fairy tail like Santa Clause.

  • Good riddance, I'm lovin' my LED bulbs.

  • And they have lead in them oops

  • @AngilasGuy how much?

  • First off guys.... They are not banning the incandescent bulbs you already own. They are only banning new manufacturing of incadescent bulbs.

  • I know they have been trying to do this for quite some time, however I don't think they will phase out completely for quite some time. For example reflector spotlights, heat lamps using in bathrooms, halogen security lights. What about a lava lamp? This wouldn't work with a low energy bulb. Correct, if they have been on for quite some time the low energy bulbs will glow for a little bit when turned off. I know a local hardware store near me has 100W and even 150W incandesant bulbs still! :D

  • So speak the guy with three bigg ass computer screen! You want to really save energy Chris all you got to do is downsize the "Command centre"! I build that kind of office myself and ended up selling 2 screen in favour of a single HDTV that had 5 HDMI ports. I got the laptop, desktop, ps3 and sat tv hooked on 1 screen because I realize that am not using more than 1 or 2 devices at once. Since am using HDMI I can pipe all the sounds to my stereo. No fuss no muss and less cable to manage.

  • We just bought some yesterday. eDe

  • Hey! This is the first year my tree is dressed with LED bulbs too!

  • :( I need them to keep my turtles warm with those types of a lights. This means that I have to play 60 bucks from a mercury-vapor lamp:(.

  • bye

  • In a new house, its all ccfl

  • 4:38 Yay! Shout-out

  • That really sux. While it's not efficient to light your home with incandecent they are very needed for warming certain areas that need warming in that particular way.

  • I use incandescent light bulbs because of the mercury in CFLs and the lack of short term cash for LEDs. When LEDs become more affordable, I'll probably switch, provided they're able to produce a nice warm light.

Nonetheless, the government's overstepping its bounds by banning incandescent light bulbs. Consumers should have the choice of what light bulbs to buy, and if the pros outweigh the cons, they'll make the switch, just like how Chris is replacing his bulbs with LEDs without being forced..

  • Green sector is a sham. Destroying jobs

  • Another British invention has gone redundant.

  • Yay for consumer choice! Yea right! XD

  • Fluorescent light bulbs may be efficient, but they are expensive and made of poisonous metals. How does the government think we will be able to dispose of them?

  • The new energy saving bulbs REALLY hurt my eyes. I prefer the soft glow of the old ones. I know energy saving stuff is important (they stopped selling the old bulbs here in the UK ages ago) but now I'm moping around in the dark like a vampire nonce. Is staring at a laptop screen in the dark bad for your eyes? I'm guessing so.

  • Every bulb I have in my home is a CFL. Couldn't be happier. I used to buy the traditional transparent bulbs, but they would just die after a couple of weeks. Five years ago there was a sale and I bought all of them at once. They all work perfectly fine since then.

  • Kill the CFL and bring LED to the for front.

  • Actually, the amount of mercury in CFLs is rather small. The concern is with the number of CFLs that we will go through. Think of how much mercury would be at the dump.

However, if the electricity in your home comes from coal, incandescent bulbs are responsible for producing a much greater amount of mercury over its lifetime than CFLs.

  • No, and I'm not going to. I hate the squiggly bulb. They just look completely ridiculous and the color of the light is extremely annoying.

  • Man, my house doesn't have a heater, these light bulbs really help out.

  • RIP Edison Lamps

    Viva Tesla Tubes!

  • Right on ... LED are the wave of the future. Just bought a led desk lamp.

  • I hate CFL. Some people get headaches from them and I hate the color on them. They look ugly and incandescent will always look the best. Way to kill Tom's ideas. Ohh boo hoo energy saving. Zzzz i'd rather pay more to run an Incandescent than have the establishment determine what I can use. I'll order them online from china if I have to.

  • The government should decide if I can use a certain kind of light bulb or not. Fuck the government!

  • Am I the only one that waved?

  • They won't be gone in Texas! Texas is refusing to get rid of any and all incandescent light bulbs! I can't stand LED bulbs....they hurt my eyes/brain because they flash at a very high rate of speed and some people can detect that in our brains and cause us to not be able to stand looking at them! I will use florescent bulbs though. I also don't like any Christmas lights except incandescent bulbs...and the other bulbs don't come in twinkle bulbs. I am willing to pay for incandescent bulbs!

  • @russtex well federal government overrules state laws so they have to get rid of them or they are doing stuff against the law. Just saying. In case you didn't know. and I'm from texas

  • @russtex In texas yall have respect for yur constitutional ratt to use energy wastin bulbs

  • Government needs to get out of our lives... If someone wants to buy and use a incandescent light bulb, they should be able to.

  • @HeroicHero1 well if the aging government power infrastructure could handle the growing demand then i would agree, but since it cant well sorry you will have to get used to different "new" bulbs. also why waste energy/cash.

  • @FilmandTVMaker What about people leaving their TV's and computers on 24/7. Let's make a law that will make leaving unused electronics turned on illegal as well. Let's also ban atmospheric lights and Christmas and Halloween lights too. See how inconsistent this ban on incandescent light bulbs is?

  • @HeroicHero1 well you just one of those people who sees the negative in something, incandescent bulbs are so inefficient and we can do better. i don't like the light as much from cfls as well as the poisons in them but leds halogens and others do much better jobs. Oh and laws are already passed to computer and electronic makers to have efficiency/low power consumption (no power when off) and sleep timers built into most tvs now. its all coming.

  • @FilmandTVMaker I see the negative in things? IT IS NEGATIVE. How practical is it to going to a recycling facility every time a bulb burns out? How practical is it to call the poison control center every time someone drops a light bulb? Ever hear of the free market? Do you know what happens when the government interferes with free market? If consumers wants to save energy, they can do it. That's ultimately THEIR CHOICE.

  • @HeroicHe well i guess thats the difference between you and i or Americans vs Canadians, i dont mind government control as we control the government it means accountability, its socialism, but hey americans fear this. this applies to bulbs by the government is trying to achieve something as in less energy used (25%) so that energy costs dont skyrocket. but u fear it as u think its a bad choice because u feel u should have the choice of anything no matter what the effects on others

  • @FilmandTVMaker I guess what you're saying is true, in a way... But this new law is VERY poor step towards the solution of our "energy crisis". Instead of banning incandescent light bulbs, how about searching and investing in alternative forms of energy? If the government's solutions to it's problems are to limit what choices we can make, soon enough we'll be told what clothes we are allowed to wear, what food we are allowed to eat, what cars they are allowed to drive, etc etc.

  • @HeroicHero1 they are searching and investing millions/billions in new energy sources, we just dont have anything to put us over the hump yet. and to say they are limiting us i find is just plain wrong. do we have the choice of an analog cell phone anymore? no we have digital which in most ways is better. same with mercury thermometers we learned thats not good so we dont do that anymore either these are all limits imposed by the goverment for reasons and id say for the better.

  • @FilmandTVMaker no we feel that if it were more expensive to buy and use 100w bulbs ppl wouldn't do so. We like cheep and if it saved money to be green we would be. But it dose not, depending on how you use your lights it may be ignorant to change. my bulbs in my home last ages and my electric bills not vary my ether. I have used 100W bulbs as heat lamps as they are more efficient than other means.

  • @PFCVoshell I just don't think banning 100w light bulb is a good thing or the answer. The problem is your guessing at how people act and live going by some sort of average and the you just give a solution to that. by the way the government dose not care about its ppl not yours or ours.

  • @PFCVoshell so since at this point in time you view being green more expensive then being a waster/polluter you will just continue to waste and lololol thats pretty stupid response, oh and there is no comparing in the savings of CFLS or LEDS over incandescent, like i said in my other posts, im not a fan of CFLs but LEDS/halogen and others are much better then incandescent. Basically you wont have a choice soon so you can say you want your incandescents all u want but there gone soon

  • @FilmandTVMaker Not all incandescents will be phased out. Here in the USA, there are several exemptions into this so called "bulb ban". And what business is it of yours if other people wana use "energy wasting bulbs"? This is why many ppl dislike you lib-tards. You guys are a bunch of busy bodies worrying about the next person instead of yourselves. If u wana use ugly gloomy lights in your house, go for it. But in my house, its MY RULES and I'L decide what bulbs i want. Stay outa ppls affairs

  • @noreaga12326 bwahahahhahaha thanks typical selfish fat tit. so your justification is if i want it i get it, bwhahahahahahaahah typical...... oh and what does being a liberal or a conservative have to do with energy conservation. these 2 things have nothing to do with one another. you just have absolutely no idea but thanks for showing how naive you are. selfish little kid you will remain.

  • @FilmandTVMaker its not about being selfish, its about freedom. i agree that freedom should also come with sensible laws to benefit everyone.. Not driving on the wrong side of the road, or not taking red lights. but a light bulb ban? thats taking it too far. See you're a typical liberal. When someone disagrees with your views, u stoop to name calling. So whos the little kid here? its none of your business what me and other ppl used in our homes. If u dont like what goes on here, leave! simple,,

  • Chris Can you tell me/us what lights as in make/ model do you use to light up your room for the show, I am used regular set lights as inn a arri 200/300/and up watts and im not so knowledgeable about LED lighting and how it works/looks compared to other lights. It would be appreciated.

  • One problem the LED light bulbs are made over seas and we need jobs here in the US.

  • @Darkwood707 what is this taking a arrow to the knee. This is the second time I see a comment like this. I bet you want thumbs up don't ya that's why u say it?

  • @cpucrash0 its a joke.from skyrim.every guard you come across tells you they were once an adventurer like you,but then they took an arrow in the knee.

  • @cpucrash0 Its all those nerds who have nothing else in life but Skyrim, so they make reference to the arrow in the knee thing every five seconds.

  • @cpucrash0 I would tell you but I'm afraid of taking an arrow to the knee

  • @ThePhotory I'd be even more afraid of taking an arrow in the knee by Chuck Testa

  • @cpucrash0 you've only seen it twice? lol Ive seen it 12 times this MORNING.
