  • The first car crushed looked like a 56 or 57 chevy 4dr hardtop. What a shame.

  • alot of history bewing destroyed

  • :O ->  :.( -> ): (

  • To be fair, some of these cars might be so far past it the only thing to do is to crush them... :(

  • Vintagemachines You sound correct on the NY area. I bought a full AC unit from a 60' Cadillac from a yard up there. The guy I got it from told me all that info about the 4 hour deals. It worked for me..... I installed it in my 62 Cadillac Hearse. I live in AZ but visit NY every summer.

  • I am a old car guy myself "Check out my videos" and know of a guy that had his family give to him. a wrecking yard in NY but with all the taxes involved he cant open it to sell parts. It is a gold mine of old cars he has and only opens the gates for 4 hours 2 times a year to " Friends" to get whatever they want and can haul out in parts no full cars for $200 bucks. NY sucks for all there wasting of money and tries to suck it all out of the regular public. NY taxes are a joke...

  • Will do. I am from NY as well and have videos of some yards there. The yard you described sounds like one in Brownsville near Watertown - where I am one of the few who get in. Most states want to get rid of old yards - to have you buy new junk instead...

  • I like car crushing but when it;s these old boys it hurts.

  • I,m sick of snuff films on you tube!

  • These people hate collector cars and are the enemy.

  • give them justice

  • how can someone sleep at night knowing they destroyed history

  • it's all about the money and making it fast and easy.....

  • they deserve a fair trail. sad!

  • If I were there in person, the equipment would have likely been torched, the yard burned down and likely police called. They are idiots for crushing that. They could have made more money selling it and made someone else happy in the process.

  • Thats what you call a low rider!

  • people are just dum there days

  • Those two cars looked WELL beyond any state of repair. I totally get that the doors could have been salvaged but on the whole, those poor cars were long past any hope.

What happens with the crushed cars anyway? They're recycled yeah?

  • This isnt right.

  • now California is crushing classic cars......who`s next?........we have no classic yards here anymore, earliest is1995 some yards around here,.......i ask for 1990 Honda parts and they laugh.....gotta hunt the county roads for anything considered old now.

  • @jeepers2655

I know what you mean, the newest car I own is a 1985 Honda Civic, hard enough trying to find parts for that, let alone I'm trying to get my 1967 Thunderbird running, just to find parts for it I have to drive all over the area in my Honda, hoping it doesn't break...

  • sad.....

  • Could have saved some parts from that 2nd car...the doors looked good in the least...

  • Yep, these guy's call it 'job', still don't make it right. They drive late model, car's and drink beer. Class.

  • bastards. NE passed a law regarding sitting autos with outdated insurance and reg. stating it lowers how value. Dont get me started with how many classics i KNOW of that were crushed. Mostly rust free midwest classics from the 20's (more then you would expect) to the 60's. This state is a gold mine for vintage auto fans. If you steer of the interstate for a pleasure drive your bound to find a couple salvage yards that have been around for 60+ years tucked away from the common eye.

  • Shit I dislike watchin' that!!

Why don't they crush some hybrid cars? It could make me happier...

  • Much worse in person :(

  • @damageD1231 it causes more pollution to make new cars than these would produce in a lifetime!

  • @damageD1231 hell yeah

  • No!!!!!!!! Save them for the crushers!! SOO SAD!!

  • it breaks my heart to watch this 10 years ago i could have driven no more than 45 minutes from home and taken you to at least 3 junkyards that still had 50`s cars but no more ! in my state (VA) THE state govt offered $120 for every vin plate these scrappers would send them that on top of high scrap prices and people needing cash due to a crap economy has sent all local yards into oblivion ,,,, sure they are still there full of caviliers and taurus`s ill keep driving my 64 f100 as long as i live

  • this is so sad :(

  • i just cried.,

  • There's a special place in hell for these guys.

  • please stop crushing old cars.

  • i can't believe i just saw what i just saw. it felt like i just witnessed the destruction of an endangered species.

  • They forgot one thing! Every brainless idiot responsible for this tear jerker in the yard that day should have been thrown into the 57 wagon while it was being CRUSHED!

  • Thats like selling your gold for silver price.

  • i hope there in no riviera boattails there

  • Heartless

  • Bastards!!!

  • You people are nuts that think theise cars can be saved , theirs 100,s of cars on e=bay that ppl have spent 35 to 40 thosand on and cant get 10 grand for just look

  • I hate this, these cars cant be replaced, these workers have no soul, sad very sad,

  • Stupid thing here is they could have parted out the vehicles and made more than they do crushing them!!

  • Lets crush all our irreplaceable old cars and load their desecrated remains on a freighter to ship to communist China so they can melt them down and turn them into third rate $10 toasters for Walmart. Something is wrong with the world.....this makes me sick. Saw it happen at my home classic auto wreckers. 3000 potential dream machines gone in less than a week. Breaks my heart. Especially cause I found out too late they had the correct hood I needed for my '46 GMC. screw cash for clunkers too.

  • this vid makes me ill;all those classics and parts gone.

  • this makes me sick

  • wow !! some peoples have no sense of buisness....! these could be sold very expensive if they where put on sale on the internet !!! damn fools these are collector idems !!

  • Nooooooooooo (Scratch the pc screen) Noooooooo!!!

  • Why cant they take off the handles/trims/glass before crushing the cars?? What a waste of good parts!

  • sign (see also part 1 at 2:24)

Yet I might want to modify slightly:

"GATE CLOSED (EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU SEE IT'S OPEN)

DO NOT ASK (ANSWER WOULD ONLY BE NEGATIVE) - JUST WALK RIGHT THROUGH THE CLOSED GATE (WELCOME, WE HAVEN'T HAD THAT SPIRIT HERE SINCE 1969)

  • now that just ain't right!

  • I realize that yards can't keep cars forever, and that some cars will rot into the ground before they sell. however, I'd rather let a car rot and hope someone will come alog and save it than senselessly crush them like this...

  • It was probably made into a "modern" car, something that looks the same as every other piece of plastic crap on the road, something that make a burn victim look like Jessica Alba, modern cars are the automotive version of 2 girls 1 cup.

  • @Kevinesque HA! I believe they're in fact the contents of that cup

  • I'd like to see a car crusher (like above) get distroyed for once! Rules: 1 car, 1 functional compactor, 500-800 lbs high velocity explosive, detonation occures while vehicle is being crushed, and on location aftermath footage. Has to be done in accordance to Federal, state & local laws.

  • They should have their peckers stapeled to the inner wall of the crusher, then have some rice grinder tuner car put in, push the button, and you could watch the show.

  • Most of these cars could have been restored or parted out, depending on condition. While perusing through many videos like these;the same end result, I think it would be a change to see this instead: 1 car, 1 functional compactor (as seen above) and 800 lbs of high exposive. Some might say I'm stupid for saying this, but I like to see a car crusher get distroyed!

  • I'd watch that..!

  • @worseorbetter These people are stupid, why ? because they have a job but they are still stupid.

  • @worseorbetter well, off you go then. No-one's stopping you going to another site and buying up everything they have and getting started.. Of course you have a cast of thousands to help you. Don't you think that A: the ones shown have been stripped of all usable parts, B: There are more cars than people willing to restore them and C, which closely follows B, the place has closed down.. chances are they ran out of customers..

  • @worseorbetter Amen to that.

  • @worseorbetter and the morons who put them into the crusher!

  • Your kiddin wtf is wrong wit people,You could of sold them as is and made more money then crushin it for price of metal ....they prob got a few hundred dollars a car but could of sold them for at least AT LEAST two grand no joke but thats wats wrong wit the world no one cares anymore

  • Some do...

  • @vintagemachines we're a dying breed evidently. and I'm not even 25 yet.

    Invest In Precious Metal!

  • @luckyfella05 i would cry if i had to work there..

  • Those Cats should have their a**es removed, we would give anything for nice rust free classic's on the east coast

  • Well at least it wasn't a 57 Chevy!

  • I hate the powerful EPA and their unrealistic views...

  • how could you treat cars how u want youre cars to be treated or crush a toyota prius

  • cars have been crushed, cut up to race or just plain neglected forever, why are you now suddenly worried?

  • Uhm... Something to do with math...

  • @vintagemachines If you ever get a 1969 Dodge Dart with a 318, I will buy it off of you, I don't care how much or how far, I would go ass over head to get it

  • It is amazing how many classic cars of all prices are for sale lately on craigslist. Just keep looking for the one you love. I had to stay focused on just the ones I like the best or I would go broke and need acres of space.

  • @vintagemachines I'm no car guy however, I have loved, and would love to own one muscle cars, but I would rather own a truck, I can't even tell you how sad it is to see this stuff

  • @mirlin235 I know nothing about the junkyard business or car restoration, but it would seem to me that all the trim, and other hard to find parts for vintage cars being restored today would bring considerable more money on ebay than what you would get for just a flattened piece of junk.

  • @alexcurtis99 cause that's a gradual process, seeing a mountain of classic cars (that many of us have wet dreams about owning) being crushed at once really hurts.

  • I would feel better if these cars steel ended up in a retro 2010Camaro/Mustang/Charger which are tomorrow's classics. Better yet being used by a company such as Sherman in Michigan which sells new replica body panels for vintage cars. With all the aftermarket replica parts out there one with mucho cashola could build a brand new 56 T Bird or 62 Impala.

  • One possibility is that a new owner of the scrapyard wanted to get the scrap steel value then put the land to some other use. Much as I hate to see this the last time I checked the owner of a property does what he sees fit with it.

Another scenario is the owner being forced to clear the land for groundwater contamination issues. Either way it would be a monumental effort to sell those cars to collectors fast enough to avoid leaving any for the crusher.

  • I'm gonna puke!

  • I'm sick. Do these people not know the internet, and how they could get 10x and more for parting out vintage vehicles vs crushing them? This does no service at all, an abomination.

  • seeing somethine like this sickens me. even more when it comes to old farm machines from before the 1950s. my grampa scrapped his 1968 ford f250 4x4 a few years ago, it still sickens me to think of it gone.

  • All i drive are old cars & a truck.

    Mustang II's & a Old Ford Pick-ups!

    Keep it between the ditches!

  • with all the fields and pastures full of cars in montana, wyoming, idaho, washington along with half the other midwest and western states a couple of poor examples of classic parts cars this isn't that much of a crime.

  • Ignorance is bliss...

    VM

  • @gtlvr82, everyday, there are less classic cars around!

  • Hey old car crushers, the VIN tags are worth money!!!!!Sickens me to see people do this.

  • EPA probably wants that yards like these disappear because of the environmental impact that abandoned vehicles cause with liquids and other stuff. This is very sad that this is happening. The only way is to move faster than the EPA and save the salvageable now before it's gone for ever. Auction them for benefit associations and make a car enthusiast who will restore it happy. At Kaufdorf (CH) more than 700 old wrecks found a new owner as parts car or restoration projects.

  • Seriously are people that stupid to crush old classics like that. I worked at a scrap yard and if any classics came in, we would gently strip the useable parts and then crush the rest. I did crsh a rusted shell of a 68 SS camaro and still feel guilty

  • should save the tinted glass and doors trim ..

  • it's sad to think that the owner probably had thousands of offers, then the town probably forced him to scrap it all.

  • I think i visited this yard from england ,on the i 395 its a pity to see them destroy rust free cars like this ,

  • owner just wants his $30, $40 a ton

buy them if theyre worth saving

  • Once they're gone they're gone and America IS BEING DESTROYED JUST LIKE THESE CARS ,,,WAKE UP.

  • Exactly. This is the concrete expression of Socialism. The caption could read, "This is your country, on Socialism."

  • Dude! Your lucky, your scrap scheme in America was limited to cars made before 1984! Here, people were cashing in 1930's vehicle for money off a shiny new car.

  • That is truly a crime...

  • @danielwetpaint They wont WAKE UP UNTILL IT'S TO LATE PEOPLE are to damn lazy all they want is a Obama check and about 1 more year and there want be nothing left cars or jobs. it will take a 5 gal. can of money to by a coke if you can find one. It's coming.

  • They should put the owners head inside the crusher along with the idiot driving the forklift!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I know this is their job and all. But I would quit before i pushed the button on these classics. Sad sad sad.

  • vintage sscrapyards shouldn't exist.

those cars should be running , not recycled.

the good thing is that the prius is getting enemies because of this.

  • well, this is certaily painful to watch. erasing memories. thanx obeanhead.

  • huh?

  • 2:37 - Do THAT to a Prius in 40 years!!!!

  • this is not only about crushing cars. it's about cutting the ties to american (automotive) history

  • I GOT GOOSEBUMPS WHEN I REALIZED SOMEONE ELSE KNOWS WHATS REALLY GOING ON,,,BLESS YOU Manoman0,, I hope these fools listen and heed all your future words.

  • look at that chit the door even still closes. cant believe it. sigh. i hope they only scrap the ones that are rusted.

  • i would rather see those cars rot in a feild than see them get crushed

  • Wow. I bet that wagon had some stories.

  • poor 57 Ford :-(

  • I wish they would stop making pancakes out of this treasures...

  • what did the owner pass away who owened the yard?

  • Yes.

  • They're not making them like that anymore. Glad to see all the restorations going on now, but still unfortunate to see!

  • That second one looked restorable...

  • you know how come theres a million old cars in all the other countries wow i wonder maybe there solid and you will live if ever in a head on collision and the old cars have style power and suck alot of fuel what a great feeling

  • "The Killing of My American Heritage" by RED PINKO COMMI and the EPACRATS. "The New History" by Huu Fuk Yoo and the Sellouts. However the only real deal is AMERICAN REAL STEEL ! Bulit in America by America, for Americans. Like Grandpa Mc Coy use to say the rest is just HOGWASH !

  • ugh that sucks i personally hate crushing vintage salvage yards just cause of the cars. but im in mich so most cars that are in scrap yard up here are too far gone to save. do you guys have to put emissions on your crushers out there?

  • They should have to - huh?

  • me or him{down} if me hell no,emissions suck just askin cause cali is so strict on that stuff

  • shame, impeach Obama!!!

  • And shut down the EPA too!!!

  • @Midnight8723 what does Obama have to do with this? if you're referring to the C.A.R.S (aka: cash for clunkers) program the guidelines state that no vehicle over 20-25 years old is eligible and the vehicles had to be fully licensed and insured for at least the previous full year (presumably to thwart scamming efforts of turning in unused vehicles for money) further more I would like to say that this video did in fact nauseate and sadden me.

  • @Midnight8723 when they did the whole trade in your car for a new one (i forgot what it was called sorry) me and my dad were walking on a lot and saw a '97 cobra yellow traded in they wouldnt sell it , would only part it out, but the car ran in great shape needed a new paint job and a tune up but that was it... now its gone... thanks Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thats a waste of good parts. Just look at the rust free doors people would kill for.

  • Greed and stupidity....of course they did this as the scrap prices China caused to go to the moon from sucking away the rest of the world's jobs came crashing back down. I'm also not surprised the enviro-Nazis had something to do with this, and the Enviromental (non)Protection Agency and I'm sure the loons in California had something to do with this as asserted. Sad. I'm so fed up with my "new and improved" car, I'm ready to go find one of these and drive it instead. At least I can fix it!

  • Here in Australia, all of the old classics got sent to china instead of being parted.

Also as a car dealer, the 10k and under stock has become a lot harder to source as ther is less older cars. They want you to buy new so that they make more money and can say they have saved some jobs. Long live classics. (66 stang)

  • they should be punched the same way the ended the lives of the cars

  • jesus christ man this is like a horror movie.

  • I wish it were fiction!

  • Man what a waste. Those cars coulda (in a utopia) gone to freakin Cuba.

  • This is history murder......

  • Guys in the video : Let me show YOU how it would be if i stamped on a Rolex

  • these people will rot in hell

  • Modern technology allows cars to be compacted to a point where they are less than waffer thin. They are then freighted nation wide to Chocolate easter egg manufactures where they are used as tinfoil wrapping. Its all about presentation.

  • I think the same, i'm still crying.

  • Notice at 1 :02 you can actually see the soul of the car smoke out and go to heaven.

    How sad is that ?

  • That is a keen observation...

  • Destruction without foresight should be a damn felony.

Good luck with your 57 Mopar ! One of the best designed cars ever made !

  • what were these cars that were crushed here

also what does the sign say in th part below no exceptions

  • They are reminders that quality and art are not always cherished enough by those in charge -hence this type of squanderous fate still occurs... The sign used to display the open hours for the yard.

  • ok thank you

do you kow what the 3 cars crushed are or I guess were?

  • All Fords 57-58, but the whole pile meet that fate...

  • why crushin' those vintage cars, give it to me instead, i rebuild those cars!!

  • i wanna cry

    KILLERS!!!

  • very depressing...

  • vandals

  • what a shame... lots of potential in those cars to be restored, or made into hot rods, rat rods, and race cars, huge huge shame.. sad to see :(

  • What an absoloutley heartbreaking video, once thev'e gone thats it, less interesting old beauties on the roads, and more boring modern shite. very upsetting.

  • The same thing happened at a yard called Minakers. I don't have a vid but I have lots of pics. They had a couple thousand cars 20s through 70s. They sat for years. When the price of scrap went up the owner got a great offer. They brought in a portable crusher like this and over the course of one summer the whole place was cleared out. Stupid thing was the owner was asking for ridiculous prices right up until the end. They are all being recycled into ****ing Kia's now.

  • The price of PROGRESS!!!

    VM

  • I've been to Pearson's 3 or 4 times;years ago. Mr.Pearson had a huge Doberman that followed us through the thicket as we drove through the yard. At the time he was looking to possibly sell the business and maybe retire.I learned one thing as I listened to him. That we can't live forever and there comes a time to pass the torch to someone else. Not enough folks shared his interest in old cars as the video sadly displays. My 57 Fairlane is alive today because of Pearsons and other classic yards.

  • His daughter ran it for a year, but gave in to the EPA that would have shut her down, since her Father took with him the Grandfather clause that kept the yard alive.

  • OF COURSE! ITS THE EPA! I DAMN THEM TO HELL! I am working on a site called "Savetheclassiccars', the and the other hippies will really hate us because this will put more of this beautiful old cars back on the road!

  • vintagemachines (1 year ago)

His daughter ran it for a year, but gave in to the EPA that would have shut her down, since her Father took with him the Grandfather clause that kept the yard alive I know this an very old post but I like reading them. Here in Virginia The Grandfather clause stays alive too all grandchildren blood related they leave too them if they sell it its over I hope the Daughter was not tricked into shutting it down bye the Bullies of the EPA if the law is the same.

  • ouch

  • This looks more like a scene out of the mid to late 70's when vehicles from the 40's thru the early 70's were being crushed at alarming rates. Not far away in San Jose and Sacramento, state-of-the-art wrecking yards rarely see such vintage specimens, and when they do, they're stripped to the bones before any recycling occurs. What a tragedy here, as most of these cars are likely rust-free California examples.

  • Yeah - why preserve history when you can make a buck off of it. What an ignorant and pathetic thing to do. B@stards.

  • I hate to hear that. But I hate to see any of this really, no matter the American made brand.

  • Sick...Sick...Sick....Sick...Sick...Sick...Sick!!!!!! I'm no plymouth fan or ford fan, but still SICK SICK SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!! Atleast it looks like most of the cars were parted out a good bit...I've done in around 10 70-72 Monte Carlos in the past couple of years. I saved every single part I could until they were sold to the crusher. On the cars in this video that wouldn't the case. Sad Sad

  • A whole lot of GMs also met the same sad fate here. If only one old car yard owner somewhere got wind of the outcry on my channel over this dreaded event - and sold cars more vigorously before crushing, this waste would not have been for naught...

    VM

  • 1:57 the yellow car on the bottom...is that a 55-57 t bird??

  • That was a 57 a farlaine 2drhtp that they removed a rear quarter from right before the end...

    VM

  • what is wrong with people these days?? they could of made a great buck off of these old beauties!!! and thos old beauties could have been saved!!! what is with that?? because of these kinds of people there is not going to be much old muscle that is for sale to those of us that cant afford fully restored old cars..this vid makes me furious

  • I feel the same and love your last word...

    VM

  • I can't watch. This sux!!! Histroy getting destroyed.

  • That is a real shame. They both

could have been restored or at least parted out.

  • I wouldve payed scrap just to have the car before they crushed it all of em

  • That pisses me off. I've been a die hard vintage car guy since birth. These cars are a piece of our history and should be perserved not destroyed no matter what there condition. I'm sure even that 57 Ford wagon could have found a new home. Don't wreck them restore them

  • Sad indeed. A wrecking yard here was commissioned to come crush about 100 cars on a ranch. He saw potential in a few and saved them. I bought my fury from him. Sad when you think of all the parts there that could have helped save even more cars

  • im 16 and i am just speachless

ITS CALLED CRAIGSLIST TAKE OUT AN AD

    damn nice cars..or were

  • oh dear god I've lost all hope in humanity. I'm only fifteen and that was the hardest thing to watch since I saw the "herbie gets punished vid" I need a hug :(

  • I am 43 and teared a bit :( This video is posted for the sole reason to get people motivated before they are all gone~~~

  • I hope these fools go to HELL!!!

  • Should have put all the cars on ebay and every one of them would have been sold. Some classic cars hardly ever get crushed anymore. I knew a guy who had nothing but challengers and cudas in his junkyard. He sold every single last one of them on ebay. It was over 250 cars. Sad really to see these classic destroyed. Gone forever.

  • What you're showing us is more than just the death of a car.Its the elimination of the generation it represents.I couldn't do it even with the price of steel. One day within the next 70 years the sedans/wagon will mean something and be more valuable than the resources they can be broken down into. For now, love the hardtops and convertibles. They were what everyone in the 50's drove after all right?Everyone had a hardtop or convertible, right? In the 1950s.Right? That's how it was...right?......?
