I do believe he argued for the existence of God without the Bible, but tangential issues he referenced it. Curious how Brian had Comfort's notes ahead of time, which included biblical references, and still feigned surprise when Comfort used them. Aren't the arguments good enough?
Sapient asked several times for an outline on Comfort's debate, beforehand. Comfort sent them to him which included Creation proves a Creator, addressing the conscience from the 10 Commandments, and the Saviour. Ray Comfort proved God's existence scientifically by providing knowledge that as you can't have a building w/o a builder or a painting w/o a painter, you can't have a Creation w/o a Creator.
We know buildings have builders and paintings have painters. We know this because we have extensive experience with paintings, buildings, painters and builders. We do not have any experience with universes and how they are created. It's the argument of a 5 year old to make the comparison and to call the universe a creation when the reality is it's not known if it's a creation or not.

Actually, I think we are getting better. Its just that we are more exposed to our occasionally fucked up nature. Overall there is tremendous progress. But our standards are getting better even faster. So it seems like we suck. Just look at the history. If you would be moved even 60 years back you would be appalled.

I think, that as a species we are actually doing well. Our standards, I think, are outpacing our progress, so it seems that we suck. The backwardness we see is a tiny minority which is getting more vocal, and you are just more sensitive to that.

Two points: (1) The number of abortions is not significantly higher now than when they were prohibited in most sates. They are now legal, less expensive, safer and are not a potential revenue source for organized crime. (2) I know one woman who nearly died as the result of a back alley abortion in the 1960s.

Something that I think that's *really* important to point out is that Brian had an interview with this guy awhile back. It went really smooth, and there wasn't really too much actual debate, but once the interview was over and he disconnected the guy went on for about ten minutes on how it's all about how he hates Jesus.

I'll play, though. When you create a universe, I suppose you would agree that you own it and therefore can do anything you want with it. I don't want to be snarky, but it's hard to wax theological in 500 chars. You'd be better off asking the question "What makes me think that the Biblical God will do what is right with that universe when there are those examples?"
To that I would ask, where is the grounding for morality itself? What is justice?

Mortal danger to the mother aside, would you really want a mother giving birth to and raising a child that was conceived in rape, or that was such a burden on her life that she would have to give it up to adoption, a foster home, or spiral downward toward poverty? Family planning is a feature of a better society. It's a sad fact, but the world is filled with terrible things.

Sapient asked several times for an outline on Comfort's debate, beforehand. Comfort sent them to him which included Creation proves a Creator, addressing the conscience from the 10 Commandments, and the Saviour. Ray Comfort proved God's existence scientifically by providing knowledge that as you can't have a building w/o a builder or a painting w/o a painter, you can't have a Creation w/o a Creator.

We do not have any experience with universes and how they are created.
