this is my home town, milledgeville not the hospital, it still stands and is still viewable to those who want to see it. u cant go inside, though that is my dream. i want to explore the insides to get an idea of how many ppl were here and what really happened to them.
I've been doing a bit of exploring on the grounds and different buildings...would like to have a closer look into the windows and such but campus police would not permit me to do that..
anyway..i visited memorial hill cemetery and it was sad to see all of the slabs out there with no names and no family to leave flowers..it broke my heart..do they even know who is in there..i doubt the records are accurate.
I enjoyed this clip.The last part..touching the statues hand.gave me chills.great work.!
there is only one building that is open now.. there was about 4 of them , now theres signs that says "no trespassing unsafe grounds and buildings" i ride by it every other weekend to go to the georgia war veterans home( where my grandad lives) its so neat and very interesting to me. in one of the buildings the windows are boarded up, and the others the roofs are fallin in.. but its very neat....
They just had a report on the cemetaries on the Today show today. Mainly about the unmarked graves. Was interesting, and yes, there should always be respect for the dead.
Yes. It's in Millegeville, GA, and it still has psychiaretc patients in many of their buildings. There's also a museum on the grounds. The hospital is so large, it has its own zip code.
Some buildings are still in use, but lost of abandoned areas - spooky place. surrounded by active prisons, too. Fellow "ghost hunters" and I have visited the place and have some great photos and video footage. Will try to get it posted.

It is heartbreaking and beyond tragic. I cry even today when I visit the cemetery. Thank you for your comments.

They should have more respect for the dead and take better care of the cemetery. Its a cool looking place.
