A legit box jump would involve a landing ontop of the box, instead of landing on the side of the plate and having your momentum lift your body the rest of the way. Still a very high jump though
@TailorBell Why would you comment if you didn't have any sort of constructive/logical response to me? Clearly what I said was true, and the reason I said that 5 months ago was because I was finding my max in much the very same way and I found that I could keep increasing the height even though I knew that it was only my momentum throwing me up top.

wow, i watched your other vids, gotta say, you dudes are seriously athletic. Definitely will put your vids as inspirational vids to watch and get pumped before sessions.
In my experience I just started with an hour of jumping up a hill and then gradually increased it to eight hours of jumping with 100 lbs of weights on my back.
I don't mean to hate but your measuring tape is not perpendicular to the floor. It's slanted. It's an epic jump nonetheless but if you're going to post stats it should be done correctly.
watchin this video was part of the reason i started using the olympic lifts (my speed and vert have gone up easy). 40yd-4.5, Squat-144kg, Vert-36inches @ 74kg
He has a 34 inch vertical. He has a double bodyweight front squat (his back squat is even better then), and does olympic lifting. So I don't why would you think that he has a 20 inch vertical other than that you're a jealous keyboard warrior.
Oh, then he definitely didn't even use all of his vertical for this jump then haha, pause the video at the beginning when he's standing behind it, then pause it at his max height and compare the difference of height for his head, it's definitely under a 2 foot difference, so I'm thinking he could probably do 170cm if he used his full vertical.
agreed...has a lot to do with how flexibility of the athlete as well...not to say its not impressive! But there are some with great vertical who can't tuck onto a box
@ytubeserb i have 33 inches vert with a 1,7x times my bw in a back squat... there is a limit to the overload you need to max your strength in the jum.... then it's more specific training... and yes, the guy is a beast
@alejandrothefader That's why I mentioned that he does olympic lifting as well. He's involved in explosive training on a daily basis, and by that he's increasing his rate of force development. He's decreasing his explosive strength deficit, so he's using more of that potential brought by that big squat. There, I clarified my comment. I removed my previous comment because it was posted by an account that was logged in on a computer that I was using, just to that you won't be confused. Cheers
I thought it was clear what I meant. I dare anyone to find a light guy, who squats more than 2bw, snatches 1.5, and cleans 2bw, and has only 20 inch vertical like the guy who I replied to claimed that the guy on the video has. With those numbers, you will have a good jump and he does.
Front Squat: 142Kg @ 69Kg Snatch 97Kg C&J 125Kg... awesome leap! never could do that myself even my front squat is 150!! snatched 95 and clean&jerked 125 @69 also. keep on going man!
Fantastic athlete and clear evidence of great coaching as well! Koing, I know you've mentioned it on Fortified Iron but how long has your bro been training for?
Time is depedent on the number of exercises you do. I'd say do 4-5 exercises. If you can do that in 1.5hrs, no need to train for longer. I only train longer as that is the time it takes to fit my 4-5 exercises in.
bro trains 3x a week (mon, wed and sat), I train 8-9x a week when not injured :( but my sessions are shorter at lunchtime and olift mon, wed and sat. Sunday I rest. You need to build up your training stamina and I don't lift heavy heavy all the time it's cycled about so I get some rest in my schedules.
I've climbed 60m sheer cliffs with no rope. Does that count?
All I am concerned with is whether the plates are connected together somehow (on a pole? I think I saw the end of it) and you would not want them to topple onto the person - there's a lot of weight there. Nor would you want to land on your head and split it - seen that too many times.

Ahh ok, Thanks very much for the info man.
I forgot to ask how long you guys sessions are, I only do 1hr-1.2hr sessions. Should I be aiming for longer if I only do 2-3 sessions per week?
funk192 3 years ago
evening sessions are about 2.5hrs, lunchtime sessions are 50mins,
mon, wed, fri lunchtime = squat alternating front and back sessions
tue and thur lunchtime = upperbody/ mess about/ relax
mon, wed and sat I Olift for about 2.5-3hrs. I like to take 2mins inbetween sets of exercises. I do about 4-5 exercises.
