Perhaps more than a few people would agree with you that it's not worth putting money into old sleds but some of us like our old sleds, and since the money we put into them is ours as is the enjoyment we get out of them it just boils down to a matter of preferance,as long as we're riding and enjoying,it's all good.by the way my total investment is still less than $200.
I pulled the carbs and took off the bowls and they were like new.The fuel line was off from the tank to the pump so I'm guessing the guy pulled the line to drain the tank and ran it til it died, but even with the line off some fuel was still in the tank and it was like tar,the crankcase holds pressure but I might put new seals in over the summer just to be safe.
@TheHondaAbuser Who said anything about putting money into it? I fired it up, used it to drag out some other old sleds, and then turned around and sold it to a guy in New Hampshire for $300 that used it for the rest of the season.
Others might not believe your story but I do,I picked up a 77 liquifire that had been sitting in a barn for 30 plus years,it only has 800 miles on it,the hardest part was getting the varnish out of the gas tank,Iput new fuel lines on because the old ones were brittle and it fired up on the third pull, best hunred bucks I've spent to date, nothing runs like a deere
sounds like its idling on 1 cyl
