The real kicker is that as the dollar depreciates in value the value of our debt held by China also depreciates. They don't like it. That is why they manipulate their own currency to try to hedge against that depreciation. Doing this also increases their exports. It makes their products less expensive compared to other nations' exports, and it encourages foreign investments.

For instance, Germany won't buy oil directly from Saudi Arabia, they buy our dept as secure bond to make a secure purchase. Its the same reason we pay $3 a gallon for gas and other industrialized nations pay $7 to $10. Its inflation that's killing us.

The real kicker is that as the dollar depreciates in value the value of our debt held by China also depreciates. They don't like it. That is why they manipulate their own currency to try to hedge against that depreciation. Doing this also increases their exports. It makes their products less expensive compared to other nations' exports, and it encourages foreign investments.

Now we basically sell our raw materials (Oil, Copper, Potash, lumber, et al.) to US & China. And in return you buy Chinese crap = New Colonialism (just like the British did to the colonies). It's sad that we've turned our backs on what America originally stood for and now are so concerned with "MOVING FORWARD" by increasing government involvement in private industries. Their first job is to provide national security against foreign and domestic threats... not to take over the auto and healthcare industries... people who feel that the government owes us should go to Europe and live there

@loserman243 If you can't show basic care for your citizens when they are ill, you aren't really a civilised nation. Health issues affect everyone. Waging wars abroad is inventing trouble and indeed asking for more trouble in future. If you don't want government help then perhaps you should remove the police and firemen from your society. And don't both driving on public roads, or sending your kids to public schools. You'd pretty much be confined to your house if you applied that attitude.

I know health issues affect everyone, and only the poorest of the poor can't afford basic healthcare. If people feel so strongly about healthcare for all, why don't they donate to a charity instead of forcing it upon everyone? And the police and firemen are a COMPLETELY different part of the government than the healthcare spectrum.
