  • Everybody remembers this

  • This is certainly a very early version of Lite Brite. I think I got my first one in about 1968. My 2 sisters that are younger each got one a few years later. I think 2 or 3 of them are still in the attic. I remember the "clown" and the "basketball" player in my version, some of the others weren't in it though. I also got a refill kit of the patterns and a refill for the pegs. We had MANY pegs around here.

  • I always wanted to have one but my parents knew I would just make pictures of Tacos over and over.

  • Still have mine it still works great

  • USE RESPONSABILITY

  • Where are my Lite Brite pieces?! I'm not Adam We....or am I?

They'll learn not to mess with Adam We!!

  • @HonkyTonkBuffalo You meen Adam West?

  • @mendosmoke That's a Adam West joke from Family Guy. :)

  • I had one of these when I was a kid. :D It was fun.

  • i played with it on January 4 2009, 4 days before the 10th anniversary marathon airs on nickelodeon.

  • They have a large version of this here at a museum, its pegs are 3 inches across at the end, but they only have red and blue pegs

  • I remember back in 1985 I was a really little kid and went to a birthday party for this neighbor girl downstairs and I was the only boy there... I brought my Lite Brite because it was one of my favorite toys but I guess they were more interested in their girl toys... I remember them trampling over the papers with disregard :'(

  • I wanted one so badly. My mom was petrified it would catch fire so we never got one.

  • Nice I use to have one

  • I used to take the cover off and melt the pegs on the light bulb! Then, try to come up with an excuse for all the melted pegs!! Ahh, to be 8 again!

  • I had a Lite Brite! I loved that thing. :) Kept on losing the pegs though.

  • I want one when I was a kid.

  • damn remember this like it was yesterday, always wanted it

  • Ha. I remember this commercial. Man I'm getting old!! LOL

  • I loved these things :)

  • I remember being mesmorized at what I made with that toy lol!~

  • Yes those pegs were painful to step on

  • Anybody else notice that the hook from this jingle is the song "Georgy Girl"?

  • lite brite fun for your kids a pain in the ass when you step on those pegs at 4 in the morning :(

  • This is one of the most useless toys ever.

  • Hahahaha the kids in this are like 30 now!

  • That commercial came from the 80's not 70's. I remember that one.

  • this commercial went well into the 80s

  • holy crap! do they make those anymore?

  • I did sound for a band, a few years back, who had 2 banks of lightbrites on either side of their speaker cabinets to make 2 huge pictures.

It was a very cool effect.

  • This is not the 70's commercial. I believe this is from the 90's.

  • my grandfather helped make this!!!

  • Still got 2 of them in the attic, AND a refill pack. I always liked making the eagle. Many times I used regular paper cuz I didn't want to put holes in the special paper.

  • OMG! i still have a lite brite!!, haha!

  • Oh dear. Thats corny.

I only wish kids in this day an age played with things like lite brite. When i got one 10 years ago, i was sooooooo happy... then we lost the sticks and didn't get replacements.

  • lite brite was and still is pretty damn awesome

  • I loved my Lite Brite! We were always losing the little pin thingies & having to get more!

  • i would always run out of the black paper and just put the pegs in while looking straight at the light. i bet if i were to look there'd be some of those pegs still around the house somewhere.

  • ughhhh i hated that thing!! my friend had that and it drived me insane!!! lol

  • My mom "HATED" that thing!

She would always come into the room with a mud mask on, wearing those sponge-pink hair rollers, and reading a True Romance Magazine, holding a can of TAB cola, and yell, "Damn it Gary, I'm tired of stepping on these damn Lite-Brite things!!!....LOL...

  • That's exactly why my parents wouldn't let me have one!

  • My mum used to freak because the plastic pins would get sucked up into the vacuum.

She had a bleeding ELECTROLUX, for God's sake. You could suck up a new born child in one of those and not break it.

  • My cousin would create "adult" images with his "Lite Brite" until his parents took it away. The next year, for Christmas, he got a car.

  • That wasn't from the '70s.....looked like about 1986, at the latest!

  • You're right. Thank you. ^_^

  • i never even used mine! LMAO now i must find my lite brite!!! XD

  • haha i lost mine...... :(

  • This is not the 70's, its definitely from the 80's

  • Had one of these, early 70's when I was about five. Seem to remember liking blue the most.

  • dude...toys from the 70's and 80's were the absolute BEST...i don't think there will EVER be an era with such amazing toys....EVER....crazy, but true...

  • Got my four year old daughter one. I showed her this commercial to show her what they used to look like. Now they're not as fun. They only come with a couple of patterns and they indicate what colours to put in. And they don't come with blank black paper. No room for creativity! Plus, they run on batteries! I wish I kept my old one for her! Hey, does anyone remember stepping on or vaccuming up those pieces?

  • Ha ha - I bet vacuuming up those pieces sounds like dropping a ring in an empty, running blender.

  • Now you just give the kid a fucking cell phone and let him learn how to misspell words with his fucking thumbs. I wish I lived in the 70s or 80s or whenever this commercial is from.

  • very very well said

  • from 1986

  • I was a little kid when I saw this ad in Puerto Rico in the late 1980s/early 1990's...

  • My favorite color pegs were the purple ones. What was everyone elses favorite color and why?

  • That is an easy one. My favorite pegs are the green ones. Forest green is my favorite color. :)

  • I loved blue! What I enjoyed the most though, was staring at the trippy little bubble in the top of the pegs!!!

  • @koala371 My favourite colour-without question was the white/red one they released only at Christmas. You could make the coolest candy cane pictures with them! At Christmas, mother used to walk me down the high street amid all the shoppers and carolers I would stand at the shop windows and stare at the display that the shopkeepers had made, wishing and hoping that Santa might bring me just some of the multi-coloured pegs! Alas, father lost his job and killed himself Christmas eve :(

  • @koala371 I liked purple too! They had a really neat, eerie glow. Why did you like them?

  • @xzqxx Purple is my favorite color

  • THIS is were the set designers for Larry King Live got the idea!!

  • This commercial is from the 1980's... not the 1970's.

  • I loved Lite Brite! Suzi the dancer is as cute as a button!
