@kausama no way, first thing you learn in martial arts are palm and side of the palm strikes.. he has his fingers closed in so it's not like a slap, and it saves your hands from bone on bone damage, AND you can save your bare knuckles for body shots and KO'ing when your confident you can land it right

bas himself would agree, but only due to the lesser chance of injuring your knuckles. otherwise the knuckles and the bone from an open hand are supposably as hard, according to rutten anyway:)

Open hand is more likely to knock someone out cuz you have more surface area moving an object. In this case a head, will snap back easier then a closed fist and rock the person your fighting. While a closed fist will cause facial damage like cuts and lumps... and finaly a good shot that will cause the person to be out of it. Bruce Lee said that you should keep a loose fist until the last second of impact... then clench!

I loved pancrase.. the grapling there is so complex.. toe holds and other submissions are almost impossible to do in dream and pride beacuse ground and pound is allowed and that makes grappling harder.. but here you could take your time and do cool submissions.P

Best of my understanding, in Pancrase, where a lot of this was fought, closed-fist punching ain't allowed. Also, if you've seen much mma, a lot of these guys bust their hands from all the punching.

i think bas was an awesome mma fighter. but some of his opponents looked smaller than him. it didnt look like a fairly paired fight when he went against smaller guys who looked like they weighed less and dont have as much muscle mass. maybe im wrong. maybe thats just how it looked on screen. i dont know.
