There is nothing wrong with tycho, his music is very well produced and he does have some rich synth sounds. He just could never be called ironic. Opn is too ironic for me sometimes, though the scifi of returnal and his cdr runs is something to behold. Boc is in another world, though you will find some "library music" motifs in such songs as Roygbiv. If anything, tycho is continuing boc's work through a California filter, and opn is flip flopping on whether or not he wants to be a hipster icon(s
@celestialrailroad Whoa! I just checked out that show theme and it totally does! Funny if they really did hear that theme and just randomly decided to turn that of all things into a ballad. While very different, the similarities are just too uncanny to be coincidence. Learn something new everyday, thanks for the excellent find! :)
@amiablesnowman Very wise words words. There needs to be a religion for the highly spiritual, yet non traditionally religious(praize jeezus lol) intellectually(sp? lol) affluent types like a lot a lot of people we all know.
i sometimes wonder if purists would stop listening to this if the artist had told you he made all of it using software synth emulations of vintage analogue gear.
so long as music moves you and provides a sense of wonder,something that you feel a connection to,and inspired by,then it really makes no difference how it was created.
Thank god this isn't a video. I hate the idea of their music being made into videos. It's too subjective and personal. I'd love to see them make films on the side, mind you, but not videos from their songs.
Needless to say, love this track and I love their new album; my favourite track is 'eyes which are swelling'. I hope they keep making dreamy, creative music forever.
That is wonderful to hear, I bought both of his albums myself. You're living proof of why music companies need to ease up. Uploads on this site are just free promotion.

Sounds like a variation on the theme tune to Robin's Nest.

I think this music should be a religion. How can there be violence when people have heard this?

@TRaddcliff
Well, I think most people digging this stuff know about vangelis and jarre.
I think this stuff ist very retro but still has a modern vision...this music could never happen back in the 70s.
its not about imitating but about transporting the impressions or something...

@SurvivalOfTheHippest
also, i think they use analog synths...not that it matters much, but I read that somewhere in an interview...

This is so unique. But somehow, it's reminiscent. It reminds me of Joni Mitchell's Hejira and Pink Floyd. But it's also different. I like it.

After hearing Ariel Pink, I'd wanted to see what "hauntology" was. I'm impressed.
