  • Now it'll be Princeton vs. Kansas, 15 years later.

  • love my Bruins but GO TIGERS .... well deserved after getting shafted in 89 vs Georgetown then nearly taking down Arkansas another year. Cinderella finally got her glass slipper.

Coach Carrill got his big win.

Love his book. "The Smart Take from the Strong"

  • I love this video and I love the memories of NCAA tourneys from years past but sadly its not the same these days....Even the 15 and 16 seeds are better then the 15 and 16 seeds 15 or 20 years ago...Truth be told, this UCLA Princeton game was an upset...But had Princeton beat Georgetown in the 1989 East Regional first round (they lost 50-49) now THAT would have been a bigger upset...

  • If all of the YouTube videos were like this,

I think I'm gonna like YouTube.

  • this is the biggest upset i ever called in a basketball pool

  • Wow thats pretty cool that you picked it. It may be the biggest one you ever pick! Memorable game.

  • gives me chills

  • WHAT A PASS!!!

  • unbelievable

  • The Greatness that is Gus Johnson started there.

    Gus Johnson ftw!

  • whos that guy running on the courtat 0:25

  • jim valvano coach for n.c. state...that was when they won the tournament in 1980

he was a great guy who later died of cancer

  • sorry, 1983

  • about to say cuz my team won it in 80 :P

  • That Dean Smith quote Gus uses in the beginning is a great one...

  • gideon by my morning jacket

  • What's the song starting at 2:26?

  • enter princeton.

    fantastic.

  • It was an upset by seed, but that Princeton team was better than their seed and UCLA was ripe for a 1st round upset.

  • I agree, but I think it has to do with the fact that UCLA is UCLA (11 National Championships, etc.) and Princeton is from the Ivy League.

  • Im not sure it was such an upset, Princeton in the tourney is always tough and that UCLA team was overrated and ripe to be upset that day.

  • how is it not an upset? that's idiotic to say this wasn't an upset. I don't even think Princeton had won a tournament game in at least 15 years.

  • If you're a team from the IVY league and beat a #1 ranker, #1 team from the Pac-10, UCLA, its a friggin upset.

  • UCLA wasn't #1 and they weren't the #1 team from the Pac-10 that year.

It was a 13 beating a 4, just like San Diego beating UConn and Siena beating Vanderbilt this year. Not exactly the end of the world.

  • Who was the Pac 10's top team that year?

  • probably arizona

  • Arizona. They were a 3-seed in that tournament.

  • The Commentator makes it seem like Princeton was unconscious that night. In fact, they will readily admit it wasn't one of their "best games." As for "people making shots they normally wouldn't make," they actually "missed" shots they often make. The Princeton stats for the game were sub-par-- but they still dictated the flow of the game and took advantage of UCLA's many mistakes and exploited their weaknesses.

  • Its like if Jackson State beat the Gators

  • this is the definition of upset

  • that was beautiful

  • awesome...i was in 8th grade at the time and my history teacher was a huge UCLA guy. he let us fill out brackets for extra credit, and I picked Princeton over UCLA just to spite him cause i was so freakin tired of hearing about the bruins...that was all that man would talk about in class. everything somehow tied back to UCLA...IT WAS GREAT TO WATCH THEM LOSE TO PRINCETON!

  • Go Tigers!

  • NCAA tournament
