  • The prat @ 3:29 -unbelievable idiot :/

  • I am eager to become a traffic officer hoping to join the police. I am dyspraxic and unable to drive a manual car will I still be able to fulfil my ambition of becoming a traffic officer who can be pursuit trained....

  • Do you think that flashing headlights are dangerous? I know all emergency veahicles' lights flash when you have the Blues on but at night when you are cornering at speed surely you need to see where the corners are!

  • I was driving in Roanoke Virginia when I noticed two State Police traveling 80mph in the fast lane and there is a woman driving in the fast lane. When the Police start getting closer how does the woman react?

A: Pulls into the middle lane to allow the officers to proceed

B: Pulls onto the grassy median

    C: Speeds up

D: Comes to a complete stop.

  • @DwnNvr All of the above lol

  • @lukey123MW No! The answer is D. She comes to a complete stop in the fast lane, on a highway.

  • What vehicle is being driven in this video ?

  • @lamborghini0610

    Ford focus 1.9 tdci

  • What is the ticking sound ??

  • @R2tag - Clicking sound is relay to the flashing headlights

  • @advancedbiker Oh I see I didn't think of that :o) thank you for telling me

  • Good handwork on your steerweel.

  • I personaly think you are one hell of an informative instructor and your area knowledge is second to none, knowing about the blind junction etc etc,,,well done ym friend keep the videos coming,,,they are of decent length and also high quality

  • @mortgagewizard40 - Many thanks for the feedback

  • What a Pleasure to watch & a great teacher, You are so calm Sir, its great we have People like you teaching top skills like this & keeping our British roads Safe I take my Hat off to You :o) & Top driving to the Driver too ;o)

  • @R2tag - Thanks for the feedbak, very much apprciated.

  • The guy in the passenger seat is a natural teacher.

I would love to have him train me to drive like that.

When doing my HGV course, the instructor was a nasty, foul mouthed Welshman,I never felt at ease with him.Possibly the reason I failed my first two attempts,I switched instructor, who was a nice, calm bloke like the fellow here, and I passed.

Just goes to show that a calm, authoritative figure can, like the guy here, instill so much confidence in a trainee.

    Thanks for posting.

  • @robert140602 - Thanks for the feedback, I always try and develop a good working relationship, the clients tend to learn more and you get to know your clients better.

  • I love this instructor !! If only they were all this polite. I remember mine, he was a bit of an ogre.., aragant, ignorant and a bit scary, didnt put me at ease at all and i never understood why.. after all, the difference between polite and police is just one letter !! Great video..

  • @MrMoby716 - Thanks for the feedback. I always try and put my students at ease. Learning has to be fun and you must always leave the student wanting more. When ever I am out it is a learning environment for me as well. You never stop learning.

  • Nice video but why is the driver not doing a full commentary as in most police advance driver training?

  • @D1MCV - Thanks for the feedback.... This was a Blue Light Training course for Community First Responders - Not Police advanced.

  • @advancedbiker Thanks. That explains a lot. I remember my police advanced driving course and the instructor was NEVER that polite lol

  • @D1MCV - Thanks, I try to have a 'chilled' atmosphere in the car. Whenever I go out training, I always enjoy it, as I still get a buzz from it, but if I can pick up anything alongthe way, I will use it. You find never stop learning.

  • @advancedbiker You're right, you NEVER stop learning. I'm from Scotland and I don't think we have blue light drivers other than emergency services, however, should this driver continue to drive like this I'd happily sit beside him/her. Good job.

  • @D1MCV - Thanks I will let then know...

  • thanks for that,,i was always under the impression it was 25mph..perhaps i was thinking of kmh.but it was a long time ago lol,,through the mists of time,,It was military police vehicles and i did get a major bolloking one day, being a young smart ass squaddie ,thought i knew best to avoid the M25 on the way back from colchester, went through london lol, and decided to use the blues and twos on ym landrover to get onto the A3 at around wanddsworth,,(oh those were the days lol,,

  • continued-as i was saying more aggressive,,then, it was a case of right youve got the blue light people will get out of your way ,if they dont, then make them..But as always i will pay homage to advancebiker for these awesome videos, makes me realise just how times have changed, for the better i will say ,especialy with instructors like that

  • @mortgagewizard40 - Thganks...A lot different know, just to recap on overtaking on solid double whites - You may cross the line if necessary, provided the road is clear, to pass a stationary vehicle, or overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, if they are travelling at 10 mph (16 km/h) or less. The speed is lower -

  • agradien- the law permits you to overtake on solid white lines. if you are making a right turn into a lawful junction -passing a stationary vehicle or passing a vehicle that is travelling less than 25 mph. most people having seen a vehicle with lights and sirens would naturaly slow down.so if they are slowed to under 25mph then the law says you may pass by crossing the solid white lines,,quite personaly,,when i did my training, the attitude was a lot more aggressive,,early 90,s..

  • I Love the officers voice sounds so much like alan partridge it was fantastic... very informative video too really enjoyed it!

  • @ollyoslo - Thanks for the feedback AH - HA

  • whats that ticking noise? must get well annoying

  • @infrared567 Electrical relay on the headlight flashers

  • Nice video. Like when the officer "say thanks to drivers" by showing a hand. How did they react? :)

  • @Char1zard93 Thanks for that. At the end of the day if we did not have the coopreation of other roads users, Emergency Blue Lighting would be a lot more difficult. Most road users acknowledge us with a courteous hand signal.

  • this is a great video. Can I ask what camera equipment was being used?

  • @thinkjim Passenger in back with hand held camcorder, which recorded onto hard drive....

  • Without wishing to sound negative can you explain the justification to overtake cars on solid white lines at a series of bends without a legal exemption ?

  • @agradeian Nothing in paragraph (2)(b) shall be taken to prohibit a vehicle from being driven across, or so as to straddle, the continuous line referred to in that paragraph, if it is safe to do so and if necessary to do so—(a)to enable the vehicle to enter, from the side of the road on which it is proceeding, land or premises adjacent to the length of road on which the line is placed, or another road joining that road;(b)in order to pass a stationary vehicle;(

  • @advancedbiker c)owing to circumstances outside the control of the driver;(d)in order to avoid an accident;(e)in order to pass a road maintenance vehicle which is in use, is moving at a speed not exceeding 10 mph, and is displaying to the rear the sign shown in diagram 610 or 7403;

  • @advancedbiker (f)in order to pass a pedal cycle moving at a speed not exceeding 10 mph;(g)in order to pass a horse that is being ridden or led at a speed not exceeding 10 mph; or(h)for the purposes of complying with any direction of a constable in uniform or a traffic warden.

The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002

  • @advancedbiker This still does not provide a legal exemption. The only get out would be "to pass a stationary vehicle". Firstly the vehicle was not completely stationary and secondly it had only slowed in reaction to the police vehicles emergency equipment. The potential danger was graphically highlighted by the oncoming motorcycle. All of which could be avoided by the emergency equipment being turned off until the solid lines ended and put back on again to resume progress.

  • @agradeian I think you'll find this advise is in line with the latest ACPO guidelines.

  • @agradeian = Many thanks for the constructive feedback.

  • @agradeian Many thanks for the constructive feedback.

  • great coaching

  • Excellent footage here and in your archive. I'm looking to further my driving training and understanding after 10 years behind the wheel. I was surprised to hear a familiar accent and ever more so viewing this clip and others filmed on the roads i drive everyday. An interesting insight. I hope to watch and learn more before advancing for further tuition.

  • @briers9 If you are interestd pm me and I have some local contacts that you may find of use.

  • Im interested to know...how much would such a course cost for a normal person NOT in the police/fire/ambulance? Is there anything from Blue Light Training that you can apply to normal everyday driving? (like postioning and spotting hazards). I would personally love to do something like this just to improve my own driving skills, after having a full UK licence for almost a year its amazing how much you learn afterwards!

  • Hi advancedbiker, I've just remembered - a few years ago now on a one way system I had a police car behind me right in my blind spot just flashing his blue light - I could NOT see him, then when he did come up beside me I got a mouth full of abuse....Any good driver should have been aware that he was in my blind spot! I was going to contact CROYDON police station and complain but never got around to it

  • Great video - really interesting to see a blue light from the drivers perspective. I've also just watched a video on how drivers should react, just to ensure that I take correct action ( the only thing I did wrongly was go up on verges!! )

  • Always seems to be the vehicle directly in front of you that doesn't see you in their mirror (3:28) and then pulls out around the other traffic that has seen you. Right at the last moment they look in the mirror see, in my case, a fire engine bearing down on them and then pull in sharply and sheepishly. Whatever happened to Mirror, Signal, Manouevre?

  • Amazing video footage. This teaches us alot about how we should respond to emergency vehicles on the road. Please keep posting. Was this a Police vehicle??

  • @shaan814 Thanks for the feedback, I will let the driver know. The vehicle was a marked Ford Focus Estate - Ambulance markings.

  • should have gone to specsavers lmao

  • @MovieMad007 I have been tempted at times to ring the mobile numbers on back on vans etc, just on the off change they are driving and tell them to look in the mirror. Or invent a device which electronically cuts the ignition just enough to slow them down so we can pass.........

  • @advancedbiker all emergency vehicles around the world should be fitted with the very effective rumbler siren

  • @advancedbiker Love the video. Also, I've had an idea where every GPS is fitted with an emergency vehicle detection system. Showing on the GPs Where the vehicle is AND where it is going. So people can make a lane. Would ideal for cities, or heavily congested areas.

  • bet you he was exgausted. When ya on ya own you can relax and do such driving but learning is shattering!!!!

  • Its videos like this that made me join the IAM, amazing stuff, even if I only keep to the speed limits! Keep up the fantastic driver videos! Maybe you could do one not on blue lights at some point?

  • Does it have strobes by any chance, Its a very good drive but I personal would of used more noise..

  • Another great thing to see in the video is how the other drivers are aware of the emergency vehicle and they DO clear the way rather fast.

You can be the greatest emergency vehicle driver, but if people don´t collaborate....

  • @ipatingarodrigo - All I was trying to get the emergency driver to was was to position the vehicle in such a way it influences other drivers and gives them time to react in their own time.

  • That instructor is fantastic, very calm but direct, making sure the driver (who appears to be relatively new) is okay, even though he is new, he is doing a bloody good job! Where abouts is this?

  • @jordeboy Thanks for the feedback, very much appreciated. In answer to your question we are in Staffordshire, United Kingdom

  • Great video, when i did my EFAD,it was the most exhausting course i ever done, you have to concentrate soooo hard

  • Do u do training for private sector? am looking for a company who can provide blue light ambulance driver course in hampshire.

have tried contacting wiltshire police driver training but they havent responded.

  • The student is hovering his thumbs over the steering wheel, not much grip there!

  • なんかPoliceAcademyにいっているみたいだねJAPANのPoliceAcademyだったら絶対に無理だったよ(ノ゚O゚)ノ

  • Comment removed

  • @Silumnet - It is all about positioning and planning.

  • got any pics of the car??

  • @POLICEMADgeko7844 - Sorry, but is only a marked Ford Focus in ambulance spec .

  • @advancedbiker white or green? NHS i presume...

  • love the vids mate!

  • Remember, he should have slowed down going through the traffic lights presenting himself to traffic like he did at 5:40 on the video because otherwise he would've caused an accident...

  • I think his matrix sign idea is a good one!

  • Driving and instructing can not get better then this in my opinion. it is sooooo hard to overtake traffic on a countrey ,sing lane, 60mph carrageway, but this guy made it look easy. Some of the car drivers did a great job too of getting out the way in good time. I wish all the drivers I have to encounter in London were as good as thease 2 guys. Its a polite british custom to thank drivers who help you as seen my the passenger, because they will appreciate your thank you so next time :)

  • @PacMany7 - Thank you very much, I will let the drivers know.

  • "You should of gone to SpeckSavers" or "You prat" gotta love this police officer in the passenger seat!

  • What a cool job. Can I be your apprentice please, I'd like to learn something new and change of career.

You must love going to work !!

  • Just want to say thanks for another great vid, you have taught me a lot. how is the training car marked up? is it police or does it have its own livery?

    thanks again.

  • What is that continuous ticking sound and does the emergency services use 'Tom Tom Work' that receives a job and automatically maps a route?

  • @Zeamus634 Clicking sound is flashing headlight relay....

  • @advancedbiker

First time I've heard it on a blue light run.

  • Comment removed

  • @Zeamus634 Police do use a GPS, not sure if it's a Tom Tom but would be simular, it's built into the dashboard on most cars, but they get the details over the radio and tap the location of the emergency into the computer/gps.

  • Fanastic video. Shame civilains cant do these courses but I can understand the reasons why. What grade was the person training for, was he a police officer?

  • Comment removed

  • The senses go up a major notch, People do not know how to respond, training is required to understand the reactions of others. Even if you were to drive normal with blues and two's , others still panic and create problems by not thinking of their position etc. As you stated it is to allow others to know you are there and want to proceed to arrive. Good vid and informative

  • great video should be shown on all driver courses .

  • @westmids11 It would be a great idea, but it all comes down to time and cost...

  • Brilliant Video! what vehicle is this in? and where?

  • @KCx2192 Were in a Ford Focus Estate on the the A51 from Stone, along the A520 towards Longton, Stoke on Trent....

  • crazy driver at 3.30!

  • I'm not sure about the line at the roundabout at 14:10 Is that the safest way? I am no expert but I would have been tempted to stay left and split the traffic.

  • Thats great, glad to see you back :)

  • Are you a cop or someone that just trains them how to drive?

  • @pulse0000 I used to be a cop, now retired.

  • Superb video, couldn't agree with you more Josh!

  • nice one! some drivers need to respond more quicker

  • @stephan20008 All we need is for other drivers and road users to repsond, and give way, stopping in a safe place, not opposite bollards, just before a bend, a brow of the hill. Just think, the trained emeregncy response should realise what you are trying to do. At the end of the day all we need to do is get to the job safely - DRIVE TO ARRIVE

  • "You should have gone to specsavers, you pratt".

I think I enjoyed hearing that more than i enjoyed watching the entire video. Great stuff Nigel.
