  • As they say every actor has a bad movie in their past, (they made him blonde!) yeah this looks like a really bad movie but hey it's Josh Duhamel so I would watch it if I could find it.Actually a cool Dorian Gray was played by Stuart Townsend in the League of Ordinary Gentleman.

  • the saying: book before movie..clearly applies...this movie sucks

  • Seriously??? This looks like the worst movie ever! If you want to see a good Dorian Gray movie watch the one with Ben Barnes, Colin Firth, and Ben Chaplin. That's a good movie. It will really keep you interested, unlike that one!

  • my god...it is like no one in the movie industry gives a crap about Wilde's works, just the damn money from the "safe" audience, the same fragile audience who would prefer Basil be a woman, rather than going with the flow of the ORIGINAL Dorian Gray...

UGH!! IF I COULD JUST SLAP THEIR FACES AND NOT BE A SIN!!!

  • @blackbuttonbailey well sai

  • i thought the painting would become hideous only after many years in the attic? they seem to have cut to the chase here. drop the paint brush bitch and move away from the canvas.

  • what a load of shit.

  • Gay.

  • where can i watch this?

  • the 2009 version isnt perfect but it's tehn times better than this one

  • Three things.

1: What is the point of putting a classic story by Oscar Wilde in a modern setting? Wilde's main goal in writing was to parody the Victorian society that he lived in.

2: Why is Basil a woman? Not only is that homophobic in every way possible, but the modern setting would have allowed a gay pairing anyway, making the whole point of Basil's character completely pointless.

3: The editing to this trailer is god-awful! It looks like a ten-year-old experimenting with iMovie.

  • wtf, I can't even find the right words for this.why is basil a women-how could they-what's wrong with basil loving dorian- this is sooo wrong.I though we lived in a century where there was no need to hide one's feelings... I'd actually liked to bring oscar wilde to life again and let him say somthing about this crap... but I'm afraight he'd just be dead again before he could say anything...either because he would die of a hear tattack or because he would glady kill himself ò__Ó

  • WTF THE WHOLE POINT IS THAT BASIL IS GAY AND IS IN LOVE WITH DORIAN AND THAT'S "WRONG" (at the time) AND, THUS, THE CONTROVERSY. Taking that away cuts a major part of the plot. I'm all for artistic freedom but is really disrespectful to the original intent, imho.

  • changed scenario, horrible acting. So pity that I've lost my time with hope on excellent filming of the great writer

  • Josh Duhamel blond? HA so weird.

  • ugh... Haven't watched either version but I think I'll stick with the one with Wilde.

I like Josh and all, but blond! Ughy!

  • wow how crap/painful does this look?

  • Poor Oscar Wilde....

  • Don't be so mad people. This version looks funny to watch. The painting reminds me of the famous picture of Rose in the Titanic movie. Dorian is not gay here but the actor still portrays him as a bit gay. It's just the novel is so great it's hard to make a movie as great as that.

  • @hotaru162 Well, they still turned Basil into a woman and gave it a modern setting. That's as bad as when Dario Argento made Phantom of the Opera without a deformed Phantom! Grr!

  • @FantasmaLuna Um, I understand that the fans would be disappointed when such a thing happened to their favourite literature. But it'd be easier to think it is a parody version or something, it'd be more funny that way. I'm sure there's better versions out there to watch if they wanted to.

Now I'm going to check that version of Phantom of the opera...

  • Wait.... did he go down on the bride... in her gown?

  • this looks terrible the worse version i have seen poor oscar, having said that the 2009 version is great victorian action erotic debauched homoerotic as it should be and the book is a classic

  • Dorian on bathingsuit makes me think on a porn movie xD

  • mind blowing !! The reason why people gave it bad reviews is because the movie focused too much on the visual effects, while neglecting the story and the acting. Anyways, if u wanna judge it go to MOVIEPRINCESS[.]com

  • Easy there folks, I quite enjoyed this one.

  • What is his name?

Cause i heard josh duhamel and i was like what??He is not josh duhamel!

So what exactly is this actor's name? :/

  • Has this film been released?

  • if it is i wanna watch it

  • but this is a movie?? what is his name? i don't found movie of this novel there is only the movie in black and white..and the new movie 2009 there are other movie as this?

  • The portrait is sexy... I want it!!!

  • You... Assassinated this book!!! Have they even read it?! First thing you read about it on wikipedia is " a homoerotic novel". HOMOerotic!!! get it! Now basil's a woman?! WTF?!!! Oscar Wilde must be turnig in his grave!!!

  • this looks REALLY bad. Oscar Wilde would prob h8 it aswell as this film seems to have gotten rid of any gay themes this story has. the new 2009 film is amazing

  • WTF...o___o

    -Why is Basil a girl?

    -What wedding?

-Any why the HELL is he in a bathingsuit in the portriat!!!!!!

I haven't even seen this movie and I already think it's really bad. It shouldn't be modernized it takes away from the movie, the only movie I liked that did that was Romeo and Juliet with DiCaprio and Danes. Poor Josh..I guess all actors have to have a starting point...

  • What do you do when you have no money to pay for a writer?

    You abuse old classics.

What do you do when you have no talent?

    You abuse old classics.

  • terrible.......

  • This must be the most godawful mutilation of Oscar Wilde's novel. Basil Hallward (Dorian's portrait painter) who's gay in novel is now a She and straight. And poor Dorian is now instead of bi at least totally straight. And the new Dorian flick with Ben Barnes seems to be just a little better. But maybe there's a flicker of hope. Guess what I stumbled onto on "DorianGraySociety" on Youtube. A real fun and rowdy Dorian Gray trailer!;)

  • Soooo Basil Hallward is a girl?

  • o my god this is soooooo terrible

  • Damn...The movie should be portrayed in Victorian times.. Think this is so essencial, cus that time.. i dont know why.. seems to have more the ability to reveal gently the elegant superficialities and imoralities that all we have inside our soul.

  • Horrible terrible disaster...I don´t like this movie...

  • terrible acting and the american accents are plain awful

  • Terrible.Just Terrible.

  • Oh my God!

    That' s orrible...

There isn' t any good movie about the picture od Dorian Gray...

    But it' s the worst!

  • I want Wilde to come back as a zombie and attack the people who made this movie.

  • i agree wholeheartedly

  • this is an insult to the picture of dorian gray!! these people destroyed one of the greatest pieces of literature.

  • homosexuality presented in the book is one of the main things which makes oscar wilde so great. he dared.

  • AND he corrected the judge's grammar when he was on trial for sodomy. Turning Basil into a woman ruins his daring nature.

  • exactly. he stated that "basil is what i am..." or so. basil was extremely homosexual, this movie completely destroyed dorian gray.

  • Holy Shizzle when did this one come out? or when will it come out? I read the book for an English report. Basil is a man.. and Sybil does not look so young in this movie, lol. And don't think that's how Basil painted Dorian....

  • "Did you notice in the picture, something curious?"

    Yes, he's not wearing pants.

    Oscar's rolling in his grave.

  • omg!i don't like this versione!!!poor oscar wilde!!0________o

  • They destroyed it!!! I spit on them!!!

  • . . .Well. . .Looks like they killed Oscar Wilde's amazing novel. =/

Well I'll say--Oscar Wilde must be turning in his grave at this, and who wouldn't?!

  • lol he killed sibylla? what the fuck..they destroyed the novel

  • OMG Basil is a woman???? Why on earth did they do that? Wilde had the gut to make it a man in 1800s and the 21st century poncy jerks dont have a spine to portray it as it is? What were they afraid of? Homosexuality?

  • You're right. My God.

    What crap.

  • what is the song that started at 17 second?thank you.....

  • i'm sooo hungry.

  • Looks like they have butchered the story; they have totally lost Wilde's brilliant words.

  • Really shit, but I think it's extremely difficult to make a good film. Any film version will be only a shadow of Oscar Wilde's masterpiece

  • This is so wrong! How dare they to disgrace this beautiful novel?!

Oscar Wilde does not deserve that at all.

I really want to hurt that director right now

  • So...what time period is this supposed to be in?

Again, I say it:Oscar Wilde must be rolling in his grave because of this.

  • Naah, more like spinning madly at about 4000 rpm. (rolls per minute)

  • This, my fellow Wilde fans, is shit. Homophobia has never been worse, they have sucessfully destroyed the classic. And Basil's a woman? Sad.

  • @lanaktty i made the same mistake. i watched this movie, and ended up sooo disappointed! at least i was lucky enough to have read the book first, so it didnt ruin anything, having seen this first could have made me think the book is horrible. How can they murder a masterpiece like this? and yes i agree, Basil being a woman was an absolute shame.

  • @Pixiemel2 well said

  • All wrong.... it burns my eyes to see Oscar Wilde's great novel disgraced in such a way!

  • wow. this looks really bad. everything is wrong.

  • It's a completely Politically Correct movie and in it contains the seed of its failure. However, it is possible that it was made for audiences that don't read books but comic books - Batman, Spiderman, etc., how pathetic.

  • This was really bad.. why bother making or seeing such rubbish. Read the book or see the 1945 movie.

  • This is not Dorian. This man cant be Dorian. Dorian is beautiful. And why is his picture like that ? Why is Basil a woman ? This is rubbish, why do they mistreat the most beautifully written novel ever ? This is not Wildes beauty, this is shit.

  • What the hell..Basil is a woman?? A woman could not be so secretly obsessed with a beautiful man. A woman would love Dorian (Sybil) and openly want him..Thats the point of Basil. To show his true feelings in the portrait...Basil cannot be a woman (not because women cant paint or whatever, because we can, but because the painting is like a secret homoerotic display of feelings).

Josh Duhamel is a fugly Dorian. And Sybil could be prettier :)))

  • Oh, Jesus! What the hell is that?!?!

  • movie looks horrid

  • Need I speak of the irony of a masterful decadent novel degenrating into this utter drivel?

Oh well if is has some cheesy movie moral then I'm sure Arnold will be happy.

  • FantasmaLuna , you're perfectly right.

This Dorian is absurd, and the painting is terrible. Why Basil here is a girl???

Poor Oscar! There was no movie could represent how beautiful his masterpiece was, in fact most of them spoiled the book. And this one is purely crap.

  • because this moviemakers are homophobic

  • Basil being a man is a pivotal in the book. For those of you who haven't read it, get to it! It's one of the best books I've ever read... Josh Duhamel looks like he did pretty good. Dorian does go mad eventually.

  • Gorgeous Dorian! Perfect!

  • I don't mind if Dorian Gray is blond, after all, Oscar Wilde describes him like this in the book, so it's not a problem for me. But what is annoying is to change Basil who's basically a man into a girl. That's fucking boring, they should respect Wilde's materpiece.

  • oh and yes, if you want to see a dark-haired Dorian, look for Stuart Townsend!

  • loeg was a great movie

  • Somewhere in the world, I think Oscar Wilde is rolling in his grave.

  • Wouldn't that be France?

And yes this looks pretty bad.

  • I think film is doomed to make a successful adaptation of this book.

  • donde consigo sta pelicula????

  • I have the movie. Although Josh looks great in the film the performances of the entire cast are awful.

  • That's not cool...turning the characters from males to females...Shame!!

  • If I wanted something as horrid as this is, I would tear my cats limb by limb with a pair of pliers and a blow torch.

  • Basil as a woman? This is disgusting!

  • yes dorian is blond with blue eyes in the book and his"first love" is a brown haired girl like we can see in this video

  • I want this movie! Dorian is blonde in the book. He was the most beautiful. He had unusual beauty. The people around him told him how gorgeous he was and that it would one day fade. He then realized what he was and wanted to stay that way forever. I want that too damn it.

  • Yeah there's such a thing as adding your own style to a project - but Dorian is not blonde, and neither is he American! Geez, what would he smoke dope instead of going to opium dens lol!?

  • man, even if I consider too this film as a damn piece od crap , as many did ^^, i'm afraid you are mistaken :p

Dorian is blonde...( well he's not american on that point you're right)

The film made by albert lewin in 1945 shows Dorian as a dark haired boy, and sibyl vane as a blonde girl, but in fact it's the contrary

    check the book :)

  • True, also... some things should just be spared by Hollywood

  • Dark hair is so much more Dorian Gray though....Dark, Mysterious, but gorgeous

  • But Dorian is a blonde, it says so in the book.

  • the actor is blonde, too.

  • Fuck you. Leave Dorian alone.

  • this is a piece of shit! A wast of time.

  • josh duhamel (L)_______(L)

  • Poor Oscar, to have his wonderful book turned into such a travesty! It's...rather depressing, now I think about it. An adaptation into modern society might be nice enough for some people (If a decent adaptation came out I'd go see it, though I'll always prefer dandies and Victorian charm, but each to their own) but the horrible acting and the way they've seemingly completely changed the plot (Basil's a girl? I think I need to lie down; too much horror to comprehend) is just ridiculous.

  • The 1975 versh with Peter Firth looks decent! Lots of monstrosities out there though.

  • You would've loved it if they'd charged Tim Burton with the task.

  • oh, what is it?!?!?!?!| the actor wo play Dorian is bad and Horrible!!! not like the another films (like the video of PhoptersMar, but i don't know ihat version of the film is this video). My eyes can't see it...

  • Oh! is this the one that was made in 2006? When did it come out?

  • when did this movie come out?

  • gay

  • How on earth could someone sleep at night turning this great piece of literature into a pile of rubbish such as this? And the portrait itself? Posing in a bikini on a beach? WTF are these people thinking? It doesn't even cast English actors. Too many awful things about this adaption to mention. If I had the choice of either watching this horrid film or killing my own parents, well, sorry Mom and Dad.

  • it's an adaption into modern society- the story takes on all new characteristics in order to better suit the entertainees. no one is saying the original is less great than this. but there are other people too would be more than happy to jump into this great story if they can relate to it.

  • That's fine, but they should have used another name, for the movie and characters not the ones from the book, its very fucked up to see Basil as a girl, this is not a piece of art, this is a moneymaker try.

  • I can see what you're saying, but the main thing to try when watching an adaption of something greater is to try to percieve it's quality in itself. imagine if it was an original idea. the work it was based upon was a true classic, but is the movie good in it's own way? I think you're right about the whole name thing, but the changes made for this adaption may have been good for this adaption. a moneymaker? maybe, but I'm not too sure.

  • Dorian,a bottle blond and bad actor in a daytime soap opera-style drama.Egads!

  • That was the WORST acting I've ever seen!!!

  • Thanks God, Wilde is not able to see it. This - dare I say film - has absolutely nothing in common with the novell. Disgusting!

  • that guy has zero charisma and acts terribly. i see dorain gray as johnny depp, even though johnny is too old to play the part...but he looks young enough.

  • this looks utterly horrendous.

  • book is great.. it is fantastic.

but what is this??oh noo...disgusted me frustrated me.!read the book again..and again and again..never watch

  • lovvve the book! lovve josh..i wanna see this>? when did it come out?????

  • OMG how horrible...too modern ( why does it have to be placed in our days?????), and just...a kitsch i think!!! something oscar wilde would hate seeing!!! thanks for posting!!! i'll make sure never to watch this.

  • what? bassil is a girl? lolz, looks kinda nice tough, i dont like duhamel too much Dx, and basil a girl ew

  • Beautiful to look at and thought-provoking. Not the book, but what film remake can or should be?

  • I´m a brazillian actor and producer, and i´m trying to play Dorian Gray. How can i get this movie, from here?

  • Read the book, read the book. This is a piece of shit, compared to the book.

  • How could they ruin the greatest piece of literature in history with a terrible, terrible movie like this?
