Great video, but I don't believe those glasses are safety glasses for laser light. I have the same Craftsman laser level which included the same glasses. Check the manual , I believe it says the glasses are only to help you see the laser line, NOT for use as eye protection from the laser.
@AsktheBuilder I believe he is refering to the beam as the projected line and you are refering the to beam as the light source, perhaps? and on a side note the the glasses are only to be used as a aid to see the projected line in bright conditions and provide no protection from eye damage when looking into the laser device.
In reality, most low power visible lasers in the 1 to 5mw range arn't particularly dangerous if used sensibly. A brief, accidental flash of a beam into the eye should not cause any damage. Laser levels are even less dangerous than pointers, as the beam is not a concentrated spot, rather a line which distributes the total energy of the laser over a larger area. Still, it is always best to not directly expose the eye to ANY laser beam, and if you have the goggles there's no reason to not use them.
Great question. Whenever this thought comes into your mind about anything, just go to Google. Try it now. Type in: laser level prices
Then look in the right column of the search results. Those are all ads of companies selling them. Only click the ads if you're really interested in BUYING. You'll discover quickly who has the best products at the best prices.
OK, everyhing you did was great but there is one problem. THOSE GOGGLES ARE FOR GREEN LASERS you want the blue ones, in fact the red ones are making the laser look brighter.
Thanks, but I am no actor like Chuck. Not too awful long ago I used to eat lunch sitting on overturned drywall buckets..... I doubt he has done that. :-)

@78kitty I specifically say at the end of the video to never look at the laser beam with your own eyes. So your comment has me confused.

are all types of for home made lasers harmful for eyes, and why is a goggle not provided with them?

You can say the same thing about any number of things: Why no Kevlar vests with guns? Why no chain mail gloves packaged with circular saws? Etc. etc.

The laser glasses are also great for making the laser line more visible, specially in a room getting alot of sun light from windows or outside.

how does laser light go around a corner? are the photons guided by the wall?
dothebedn 2 years ago
Because this tool projects the light in an arc. Some lasers create an entire circle of light by rotating the beam. Think of a high-speed lighthouse.

The point of wearing the red glasses is so you can see that laser outdoors. You *need* to enhance the laser that is washed out from sunlight.
