Hopefully they are better informed about Uganda and Africa now than they were before, because, as an African, it makes me feel a little guilty to listen to and enjoy their music with the knowledge that they might be a bit ignorant about Africa. I know I shouldn't be taking this so personally, but I can't help it :( I can't stand the perfunctory use/exploitation of other people's cultures...
While I love these guys' music, I have to say, the explanation Marcus gave as to how the band got it's name is a bit ignorant. Apparently we like to "smash a drum, yelling with a giant smile, dancing barefoot in the dirt." That's news to me...we do like our drums and our music, but that's not really how we go about it. Also, the "music of Africa" is very diverse. Ugandan music is nothing like Ivorian music, or Algerian music, or Botswanan music...you get the drift
Did a poo to this song, looked out my window down to the lights of my suburb and the patches of light sky behind the clouds and there was a small breeze and i could hear the ocean and smell a fire in the distance. Was a good poo.
@joeywalsh730 "I grew up in Tasmania and my grandmother lives in Uganda, in the town of Jinja - so for some reason I always felt the connection to the music of Africa, and how, despite the oppressions of countless dictatorships, genocide and apartheid, the people of Africa always found a way to smash a drum, yelling with a giant smile, dancing barefoot in the dirt." - Marcus Azon (Jinja Safari)
cant u upload some other songs of the locked by land album if u got that? would be soooo great! would love "mud" , "moonchild" , "errol flynn" and all the other great songs!

I have to admit that the constant "hups" were a little unsettling at first, but once I got over that, I very much enjoyed the song :) very nice
