Okay obviously acouple of thing are wroung here the helmet being different now and one thing our coach tells us is to turn and let it hit us F*** that if the ball is a fastball it dosnt move away alot crouch and avoid that dam ball now curv balls are different they move
my favorite part of this was the part where they showed how fucking stupid people used to be. Ya, i'm pretty sure at ANY point and time where helmets were available, if i i was playing a sport or anything where there were projectiles flying at me from anywhere, that were fast enough to do this kind of damage, i wouldn't have to wait for a ruling stating i HAVE to wear a helmet, iw ould have already had the fucker on lol.
lol a bean ball without a helmet is 318 HIC value whilst on fight science, a bas rutten left hook was about 390 HIC value. does this mean that bas can break a skull in half with one hook?! no because this show is always contradicting itself.
his is 390 because the energy is focused on the tips of his knuckles, which are smaller than a baseball... def enough to cause a sever concussion/ broken jaw
@LiNaK37 thats what i mean, i dont think you understood the last sentence i wrote explaining that this cant be true and this show is always contradicting itself.
@khazal12 No, you said that since a bean ball has a 318 HIC value Bas Rutten can't have a higher HIC value, which isn't true, because there's more to a head injury than broken bones, you have concussions and knock outs and such. A punch from Bas would cause more brain damage and less facial damage.
I caught a pitch right above my left eye as a teenager in baseball... I still don't play catch because the injury was so bad.
How many bowlers actually throw 90mph? Most cricket bowling I see is closer to 70mph, which would hit with about half the force of a 90mph fastball. Seeing a cricket ball is a lot easier than a baseball when it's thrown because of it's path--you get about .25 seconds to turn your face out of the way of a fastball to the head.
Well there are many types of bowlers in cricket. Fast bowlers are the ones who bowl fast. So if saw a swing or spin bowler than yes it may be 70 mph. But a fast bowler like Shaun Tait, Shoaib Akthar or Bree Lee are vey very quick even surpassing 100mph sometimes . what makes facing a cricket bowl harder is that it moves in the air or off the ground. It does not come straigth at you. It can change direction just before it reaches you. you might think it's fare away and then you're hit!
for interests sake americans should have a look at a bouncer in cricket aimed at the head. 90 - 95mph rising at the chin or ribs just as dangerous, however not illegal
@Cboisen10 listen fucknut i dont want to be woken up by an email alert saying you are responding to a youtube comment i posted 2 fucktacular years ago so why dont you take your bullshit comments, put them in that goddamn pitching machine and fire them straight up your asshole
Bad memories of taking a pitch to the face in little league. No injuries, but I can still remember it. I don't even want to think about what a pitch from an adult would be like.
Its a cool test but I do see a problem that helmet is not approved for major league thats like a Wally World softball/ rec baseball helmet even college and most high school team use better helmets than that if they did it with a major league approved helmet rated for a 95 mph pitch theyd probly have alot different results
i agree, you don't move away fast enough to take away from the speed of the pitch, but you do move away fast enough to make a direct hit a glancing blow
Your criticism is not accurate. The helmet used had preciselly the same impact absorption as the major-league version at that time. What would be the point of conducting a scientific experiment without replicating all pertinent factors perfectly? Of course, such equipment is being constantly improved, so the present-day results would have to be adjusted accordingly.
i've been hit in the head, honest to god the helmet saved my life! that pitch was coming super fast, and getting hit right in the temple could've killed me. i was startled to say the least.
ive been hit on the ear piece and it broke off, i fell down, the umpire thought i was knocked out and called for a medic. I was up and walking toward 1st pretty fast - helmet saved my ass, it hit where the temple of your eye is. Getting hit there is lethal.
Since when does pitchers who deliberately aim at the batter's head throw at 95 MPH? They normally be slower than that

@BIGBOY691990 ohh u talking about meters
baseballkidmw2 6 months ago
Only two things to keep track of:
1) Are the pitchers throwing less hard today than before?
2) Are the helmets used today less protective than before?
If the answer to these are no, then the conclusion simply is:
wear a helmet.

also its not realistic
the batter moves away when seeing the pitch come at his head so he's taking away from the baseball's speed
FujiExpress 3 years ago
not really, you bassically only get time to move your head to the side so it will hit the helmet, not your face
goldennugget01 3 years ago
yeah but i mean u still go away from it
on this it shows that the batter will completely stand still and it will hit right on
most batters will try to duck or avoid it and it will glance off the side of the helmet
FujiExpress 3 years ago
but it won't make a big difference.
and moving away just proves more that a helmet is good, so it doesn't matter
goldennugget01 3 years ago
it will make a difference
just like in boxing would u rather have a hook connect straight with ur jaw or glance off of it
FujiExpress 3 years ago
