  • I like making my Black and Tans with Summit Pale Ale or Fat Tire. At the bar last night I had them pour Guinness over Killians Irish Red.

  • Now *that's* how it's done!

  • Mississippi Mud .....good stuff

  • very informative, i'm ready to try it. the good news is, any screw-ups have to be disposed of properly! woohoo!!

  • @VenisonFajitas

That would be a half and half, not be confused with a black and tan.

  • I can die now.

  • That is a BEAUTIFUL thing, I'm going to make a black and tan Sconnie style with New Glarus' Spotted Cow and Guinness on top. Cheers all.

  • change that shit to flogging molly! LOL good vid tho, thanks =]

  • @rxqueen2286 What? The Clancy Brothers are awesome!

  • Love black and tans. Last time I ordered one, the server tried to talk me into trying a "black and trash".....Guinness with Budweiser! WTF!!? Quite possibly the worst idea ever.

  • Justin Bieber makes a better black and tan than all of you sissies

  • @TheZamster12, any sight of anything manly instantly wards Justin Beiber off, I think you meant to type he makes a better Long Island Iced Tea.

  • what ya think about yer guinness stou w dat better beh?

  • I dont understand why you would do this. Ok it floats, by why ruin two beers?

  • @Silverswordfish its absolutely delicious thats why... this is an actual drink a fairly common on too

  • Never seen this before, I'll definitely be trying this.

  • @Matt26200 Don't. It destroys one great drink [Canned Guinness is of course the Devil's piss] and elevates another which essentially tastes like pygmy sweat [Bass] to the exalted heights of bullock vomit.

Not to be found in any Irish bar - just the Irish-American ones.

  • Guiness and Bass? No thanks, Guiness is an insult to stouts and Bass.... well I can just do a lot better than Bass for my black and tans.

  • @fatsachs I respectfully disagree. Besides Guinness and bass/guinness and Harp are the traditional two for black and tans.

  • @wherareI I've never been one for traditional so... to each his own.

  • There's about a dozen 'how to pour a Black and Tan' videos currently up on Youtube and this is the best one.

    Why?

No talking, no dodgy presenter, just beer and more beer.

A perfect pouring technique, clearly shown.

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!! I give up.

  • Guinness DOES go on top.... temp shouldn't matter

  • I can't pour one to save my life. Same epic failure with my Black Velvets. Failed on two B&T and one BV. What's the temp of the beer? My god, the Guinness seems to float back to the top, I might as well make mine in a blender. I use Harp and Guinness. I used a gravy ladle that is parallel to the surface of the Harp and still can't make it float.

  • @Wisers33 lol in the blender that was funny

  • Yeah.... when i see Guiness and Bass I sure as fuck don't think about Boston or Cheers. But cheers to ye mate. A good pour on a good drink.

  • thank you! we're having these tonight. will let you know how it goes. :)

  • b e a utiful

  • Jim Carrey?

  • well done!

  • I was told a half and half is the same as a black and tan, but they call them half and halfs in Irish bars because black and tan was the colors of the English army. At least that's what my old bosses at the pub I used to work at said. They'd get pissed at people asking for black and tans =D

  • well technicly the black and tans were not army they were more of a mercenary force who went around beating people and burning down buildings but you got the rest right :) ha ha

  • And i prefer mine with a murphy's rather than a guinness

  • Nice mix England and Ireland ;)

  • Man o' man makes my mouth water / Literally

  • i prefer mine with harp rather than bass

  • how dare you!

  • you're wrong jacko821. A half and half is half room temp. guinness and half cold guinness. Mixing the two temps together is suppose to give you the best temp to drink guinness. Thought you should know what you're talking about.

  • Comment removed

  • it is a sin to mix guinness with anything...unless you're pouring a half and half !

    great vid

  • I don't know man, mixing it with farmers brothers coffee is pretty tasty. Also, putting a head of guinness on a scotch ale pretty much rocks your socks cos you have a superb blend of sweet with slightly bitter.

  • false. guinness + bailey's = delicious.

  • true! bailey's + guinness = delicious...

  • You know what's really good!!

    Sam adams Cherry wheat!

    and Guinness on top!

    Black Cherry!

  • hey i didnt write that last comment by me, a friend thought it would be funny to post!!

    Love guinness :)

  • That's better! :)

  • good deal, we were gonna find you and hang you :)

  • That's because your tongue is made of vagina.

  • Shut up stupid face.

  • how dare u do that to guinness...SCUM

  • ....It's called a half and half and has just as much history as Guinness it's self.

  • black and blues are with pbr too you idiot

  • ACME Pale Ale works

  • Ever had a black and blue? (Guiness and PBR) mmmm....

  • You should be shot for letting Guiness touch that shit.

  • The Black and Blue I had was Guinness and Blue Moon. Friggin' amazing stuff.

  • you dont use PBR for a black and blue... its blue moon dumbass. and yes black and blue FTMFW

  • blue moon... which is brewed by coors. it's not as awful as pabst, but either way, you're supporting a shitty brewery and throwing guinness on top.

  • hey so i tried with harp and it didn't work does anyone know can you use any light beer? such as harp

  • Harp can be used, but that's not a traditional black and tan. It's still good, tho!

  • Black and Tan is usually considered any other Stout than Guinness and any other Tan than Bass or Harp. Traditionally Guinness and Bass were used and it was called a Half and Half, the Irish steer clear of the name "Black and Tan" because the English raided Ireland on the name of the Black and Tans back in the day, brings back bad memories.

  • a half and half is Harp and Guinness

  • I could not find Bass ale at the store so I used Thunder Rock. Black and tans are great!

  • one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen.

  • I've only had it with Harp, will have to try it with Bass.... had a Black and Blue once (w/ Blue Moon) that was a surprising treat, still prefer the 1/2 n 1/2 though.

  • A beautiful pour of Bass if I ever saw one. Thanks for the tune.

  • I was under the impression that a stout is used.

  • And what do you think Guinness is?

  • Gorgeous! Substitute an oatmeal stout or cream stout, mayhaps?

  • wonder what Rolling Rock and Guiness would taste like? Cool vid, never had Bass. Red Stripe is good though!!!

  • winters19: Rolling rock? Wtf is wrong with you?

  • Dark side of the moon, Instead of bass, use Blue moon on the bottom. interesting taste.

  • Witbier and stout? I have to admit ... that sounds disgusting.

  • Nice pint. Ok heres a question can you pour a Black and Tan in the new style pint glasses in the states we call them coke glass pints. When I lived in the states I could pour a B&T every time no prob. Now I live in Ireland and can't pour a floated B&T no matter what I try. must be some sort of cosmic pay back for trying to out Irish the Irish. I am at altitude here about 1000ft ABS could that make a difference?

  • Thank you very much. Had my balck and tan set in two minutes...

  • Was the Guinness colder than the Bass? I only saw condensation on the top half of the glass.

  • Perfect!

  • Music is "Drink it up" by The Dubliners & The Clancy Brothers from my Irish Drinking Songs CD. You can get the CD used for cheap and it has a lot of great songs on it.

  • Gorgeous...brings a tear to me eye. That song was great as well, who/what was it?

  • great stuff. What I love to do is leave the Guinness at room temp and chill the Bass so you get a nice temperature gradient.

  • That was beautiful!

  • Delicious.

  • A tear just gently slid down my cheek,..sniff..Beautiful!
