Very welcome to have a listen to AirwavesJoxfields Vegetable (Elephant ) Man with Joxfields tribute-to-David-Gilmour's-ca-1971-playing guitar at 1.59. If you make a visit; hope you enjoy it! Cheers!
I'm 54 now, straight as an arrow, a husband, father, professional, but put the headphones on with Cymbeline and I'm back in my truck parked up in the mountains in the 70's looking down at the lights of L.A. smoking a joint and totally spacing out. We were so lucky to have this band all these years. Amazing music.
I just wish that Roger Waters and David Gilmour would get together and make another album .... no one else on earth can create music as beautiful as these people and it would be nice for the newer generations to be able to enjoy one more album before they all end up passing away like rick wright did RIP
@16520516 It's spelled differently but I posed the same query in an earlier comment. Cymbeline is a quasi mythical, quasi historical figure (not unlike Socrates or Robin Hood in this respect) but I'd bet Pink Floyd's exposure to the name most likely came through Shakespeare.
Then again I'm American and really have no idea how familiar to Brits the figure Cymbeline is vis a vis Shakespeare's play (one of his more obscure).
@polymath7 I don't Cymbeline is at all familiar to your average Brit. Only those who know Shakespeare, or study ancient British legends and know of Cunobelinus, on whose story the play is based. Like you, I would guess Pink Floyd's knowledge of the name comes from having read Shakespeare. I just wish more people did likewise.
The Doors totally copied this song's intro for Riders on the Storm. They 're identical at first. Having said that, Cymbaline is another early sample of collective Floyd genius!
And it's high time.........Cymbaline. And it's ....... high time...Cymbaline. Please, wake me. Butterflies are by my side,,,,,, the must have moved the picture plane.
me dan ganas de salir de mi casa e irme al bordo de la laguna y sentirme solo tratar de encontrarme en mis pensamientos conocerme más que nada, y llorar con esta canción. está es hermosa :(

@TheSlevaslava From what I read, Cymbeline, spelled with an "e" as opposed to an "a", is a play by Shakespeare. I haven't read or seen a rendition of the play, but if you pay notice the last line in the first stanza of the song, he says "Will the final couplet rhyme?" This may be a reference to Shakespeare since his sonnets always followed the rhyme scheme ABABCDCDEFEFGG, where only the last couplet contains a consecutive rhyme.
@snakemaster94 It could also be a reference to how the final couplet of the song doesn't rhyme. Cool, cool song, really takes on a proper life in live versions I think, though.
The story of how I have never heard the whole of this album is too sad to relate at all, needless to say I once heard songs from this at 17 and I am now 37 almost 38. Just sit down and put an album like this on, with a bit of J, has proven impossible. Instead its always been dicks gettin' on E, raving - maniac- Just never like they used to. Wow, so sad. Its great music, a lifestyle- not schizophrenia, nor the apocalypse.

Good but not amazing like so many Floydiacs who merely want to clomp on to the unusual with ill-placed, mis-placed, sad, fermented glee. It's so sad, Floydiac, don't you see?
