In July 1976, Tangshan earthquake killed 240,000 people overnight. Mao heard of the new and wept loudly. It was said it was his first time he wept so sadly.
Now, we have other revealed facts about the lies about the 30million non-normal death from 1959-1961 -- fake or erreous statistical data for year 1960 -- it is corrected by the authority now.
Also the lies attacking the Great Leap Forward by the right wing and revisionists. All are based on Mao's works and published Peoples Daily.
Have the authority now have corrected the account when Deng's period states something like 17 millions?
So what is the current figure as I am very interested in the debate itself and I have been finding all sort of sources to rectify all those biased information, or shall I say fabricated facts.

The authority (central government) keeps silence over the debate about the famine deaths. But the "stats" before "correction" could lead a 20 millions less population for 1958. That means 17 millions or 30 millions are meaningless.
The "corrected" stats sound consistent but who can trust them if they lied in the begining for an evil purpose?
Based on the "corrected" stats in 2003, my own calculation for the "non-normal deaths" are about 9 millions from 1959-1961. Compared with 650 millions, it is less than 0.5 "non-normal deaths" per 100 persons a year.
The "non-normal deaths" include early deaths of weak/diseased oldies, the deaths of those with malnutrition related diseases, and those who just disappeared from their home villages and appeared in other places years later to escape the famine....AND the deaths due to starvation.
As most majority of the people just heard of the famine deaths, did NOT know see or know a specific famine death of their own family, friends, or relatives, the famine deaths were mostly localized in some few specific areas, from where some people testified a mass of deaths.
The cause of the mass famine deaths was not lacking food, but the food was forcily taken by the officials who made false reports about crop harvests. Those officials tried all the way to hide their lies that lead many deaths in some areas. The "Xinyang Incident" was an extreme example. The county governor was sentenced to death as a scapegoat. Mao spared his life. Mao knew he was just a scapegoat. There were higher officials responsible for the crimes.
Of course, there were also famine deaths due to the NATURAL disasters during 1959-1961. The NATURAL disasters were real and the evidence could be found from officially published natural disasters reports.
