I think it is safe to say that neither would hav turned out as successful as they each did without the other. Each is powerful in their own right and brought different strengths to the team. Incidently, Dave Stewart did not write the song "Why" and Annie Lennox recorded possibly her most emotional and moving vocals on this track... as part of her solo career.

This is one of the greatest songs ever. Truly amazing. Annie is superb. Even the live version is flawless. Even a full string section. I wish I could have seen this performance in person.

Clarkson is a real good. She won the American Idol contest. But Lennox hit the spot with this song. It made her an icon especially when she sang this song WHY in the Grammys and other venues like this one. She wasn't a contest winner. She performed as a true artist. I wanted to see her perform like that again, thanks to Youtube.
A few years back I was given a couple of concert tickets for Sting since I am a big fan of his, the opening act was Annie Lennox, OMG she blew me away!!! at the end I was Sting whoooooo? Lennox stole the night in my opinion, what a performance, she was amazing....Sting is great but Annie...my respects for the girl she has a voice!!!
Same thing happened to me! I have never been so completely blown away by a performer before - ever. She's just stunning. The best part of Sting's act were the duets with Annie!
singers coming up everywhere note how its done. No wailing, no reaching, perfect phrasing and framing of all the words, both soft and strong when it should be.
i remember hearing Annie in an interview years ago say that when she was very young and just starting to find her voice that the critics would laugh at her for the way she looked and sang. I'm so glad that she didn't "keep her big mouth shut". Thanks for not giving up Annie, you are a muse to some of us.

i remember hearing Annie in an interview years ago say that when she was very young and just starting to find her voice that the critics would laugh at her for the way she looked and sang. I'm so glad that she didn't "keep her big mouth shut". Thanks for not giving up Annie, you are a muse to some of us.
