Well, it's not too hard to figure out where the animosity comes from. The magazine industry, like the newspaper industry, is slowly but surely tanking. You are their competition. More folks probably view videos here from Xteener or Michelle Pham than their magazine has subscribers. They see the writing on the wall most likely, and it probably doesn't make them very likely to be positive about you folks here on Youtube.

Never watched a Haul vlog til now, and i have to say it's not a bad thing. There are a lot of girls out there that don't have the luxury of an older sister or role model to teach them the tricks of the trade.

Honestly, I enjoy watching haul videos - gives me the opportunity to actually know how the product is like for the NORMAL consumer. It's the same thing as reading reviews off of websites when you're purchasing online. Maybe Amy should attack those people too. :)

I do think they were harsh with their description of the girls they assume do these videos but I didn't think they were attacking her personally. Well, it's not too hard to figure out where the animosity comes from. The magazine industry, like the newspaper industry, is slowly but surely tanking. You are their competition. More folks probably view videos here from Xteener or Michelle Pham than their magazine has subscribers. They see the writing on the wall most likely, and it probably doesn't make them very likely to be positive about you folks here on Youtube.
How's that for a lot of assumptions? :-)

alot of girls(& myself) watch haul videos because we like shopping, we like to see other people's styles, and it's simply just fun to share and see what other girls buy.
i doubt anyone ever put a gun to that editors head and said "WATCH HAUL VIDEOS OR I'LL SHOOT YOU". if haul videos aren't your thing then don't watch them, it's that easy. that editor is very petty. i hate people who bash others for what they like doing, especially if what they're doing is harmless

Never watched a Haul vlog til now, and i have to say it's not a bad thing. There are a lot of girls out there that don't have the luxury of an older sister or role model to teach them the tricks of the trade.
And if you don't like Haul vlogs, don't watch. Duh. Instead of watching videos that don't interest you, maybe you should get a life.

Judging you from a public video that focuses on your shopping habits is hate? No, hate is something much bigger. You don't deserve hate any more than the girls on Rock of Love, or Jersey Shore.
Videos like these gives us a voyeuristic look at the vapid and mundane. There's something about people who feel entitled to positive attention without positive action that is frankly fascinating.
And btw, the editors were sending a positive message to women - DON'T BE LIKE THIS!!

Honestly, I enjoy watching haul videos - gives me the opportunity to actually know how the product is like for the NORMAL consumer. It's the same thing as reading reviews off of websites when you're purchasing online. Maybe Amy should attack those people too. :)
As for the part that mentioned showing products from cheap stores - Forever21 or Target - I personally like it! Seriously, why would I care to ONLY see high end products?

Why would a magazine with an entire section devoted to fashion want to degrade "the haul video?" If the writer and readers of the magazine are interested in style, it would seem to me that they would be interested in knowing what real people are buying and wearing. The tone of the article and references to vlogers dressing alike and going to low-end retailers makes me think that they only regard haute coture and high fashion as style.

I don't know about Ms. Amy, but what's wrong with having groomed eyebrows? It must be classy to have unibrows and bushy eyebrows. People watch haul videos because they want to, I don't get why she was so critical and judgemental. You made a valid point on doing this as a hobby. Generally, shopping is a hobby for many people. I feel sorry for the person who wrote that article. The stereotype she describes is not even one you fit into. So perhaps she picked you because you are beautifull, articulate and smart. first painting a picture to make people view your video with colored glasses and then have them dump all their preconcieved ideas on you. I think its a small person who would paint a target on you like that, and I hope that you wont think too badly of her. Some people are just not blessed with much heart at all.
