"...played the hell out of that piano." ... Uuummmmm Noooooooooo... You could tell by the first few keys of the intro that it wasn't a "Well Seasoned Piano Player". Don't get me wrong... She did her thing... but "played the hell out of it"... Naw... She probably played better when she played for her father's church...

Even the vocals... She was her attention was divided between playing and singing to where she couldn't even put her all into the vocals.

Nevertheless... She is yet the QUEEN !!!

Actually ... the fact is ... "accepted to the Juilliard School's music program to study classical piano" .... nowhere will you find that she actually finished the program or received any degree.

My initial comment was in no way meant to belittle her, rather ... it was to just state that piano is no her stronger point. She plays better than I do ... and I've been playing for a lil bit.

Vh1, i think it was, did a top 25 greatest pianist in the music industry and Aretha made the list. Aretha is a fantastic pianist. She learned classical piano from a friend who went to Juliard School and she learned to play piano growing up in the church, and she can definately play the piano great.

You must be out of your mind or extremely jealous!! Not a seasoned pianist...you must not know her history at all. If you check out the rest of the posts on youtube you will find that Aretha has no problem dividing her attention between and exceptional piano and vocals. She unlike average pianist that just do chords while singing.

I saw her last year and she was soaring hard, much better than in a 1/2 dozen horrid shows from the 80s and early 90s. I'm thrilled with Aretha's recent shows too. For awhile there it was the Vegas Hit Medleys (like what Gladys and Chaka do now)show and then gone--with the band drowning her out the whole time.

I've always thought this is a boring carol though she does a fine job.

People are always comparing Aretha Franklin to Patti Labelle; but at the end of the day they are both outstandingly gifted artists. Patti is at the top of excellence in live performance. She employs a slightly operatic (in terms of range and timbre) tone that suits her. Aretha has much more gospel influence in her music (and she always has). She sings a sultry 1st Alto (with extensions) that has sustained her for decades. GIVE UP ON THE COMPARISON GAME!
