I have 2 pugs who are sisters...actually they're "puganese". They're half pug and half peckingnese. Their mom is a pug and their dad is a white peckingnese with a pink nose and paws. I think he's albino, though. Aliza is more pug like because she has taller body and more friendly to people. But Miami would bark at strangers especially men. If they see people and dogs walking outside the house in the window, they would both bark at them. I think they are like guard dogs, especially Miami.

Yes, they were bred to be lions which was a sacred animal to Buddist monks, which no lions were in China at the time. So it was nicked name the Lion Dog. Look up "Creation of the Pekingese Dog" on Youtube from PBS. Also the Chinese had tried to kill them all so they would not fall into the invaders hands, but I believe five survived. They were bred to be this small and fluffy and to be dependant on humans for care because they can not travel too far with their short legs.

Do check if there is any skin inflammation, especially in the creases around her muzzle. She might be rubbing her face because the skin is itchy.

Our dog, Li, did this for a year until we found out he can't eat wheat, corn meal, or poultry!  Since he's been on a diet of venison and sweet potatoes, no more allergies or face rubbing/grinding until he was bloody! His coat and eyes are shining and NO ALLERGIES!

sometimes it is the dog food which causes the eye stains, try changing to some other brand.

and you can always buy eye stain cleaner but it didn't really work on ours.

no to say you dont treat you dog well you probably do, but a dog that small (i have one) should never be out side on a leash all the time, if he/she is not out on a leach all the time then thats a diiferent sotry. whos taking you dog away anyway the dogcater if its not your fault she should not be taken away
