That statement is a fallacy. running an engine to redline when first turning it on causes no harm. Warm up refers to the actual "warming" of the oil and circulation. If you use proper oil (synthetic) there isn't a problem. Proper synthetics like royal purple leave a nice film on your parts so when you start your car there is no problem. Also, oil works at all temperatures in its target range, otherwise we would either have non working cars in the winter or non working cars in the summer....
it in fact has nothing to do with the oil, well a little. if you dont warm it up slowly, you run the risk of cracking the block or anything else...its more stressfull on the engine when its cold. and thats a fact.

wow, u lucky, lol i thought all lawn mower engines had a vertical crankshaft. i have an old lawn mower that i wanted to take the engine off of but of course its vertical...
