You know what? If you watched Razor and listened very carefully to the voice that says "All this has happened before, and will happen again." If you saw the old man in the hybrid tank that Kendra saw in the end... it is the same voice/guy that voiced the Bentusi and did the narration for the Homeworld games! I dunno if that has been brought up in comments, but there ya go anyways.

@shanecasie123 Uhm. This game is rather old... if your PC can't handle the game then I'm amazed you can even surf on the internet with such an old rag :p

However, it is possible that your pc is actually 'too new' for this game, and can't handle such an old program.

Maybe you should try to update the game, look for patches.

@shanecasie123 Get an old harddrive with windows XP. Always saves th day :P.

And if you cant, then try upgrading OpenGL. For me, it resulted in game actually working except for horrible lag in main menu and several error popups but other than that, its going well

@shanecasie123 When the game came out it was really something different to play from the rest of the othr computer games. The music gave it a whole nouther feel. More like being in the vastness of space. If you just bought it then it will be out dated but still fun to play.

Homeworld was my first online game. The memories are... horrible xDD

I'm not sure how you could get stuck in the original Homeworld. For the first three missions, wings of Interceptors will wipe out enemy Fighter and Corvette attacks, and by mission three have a couple Salvage 'Vettes to swipe and retire the enemy Assault Frigates.

On the fourth mission, again Interceptors on the strike craft and Salvage Corvettes to steal the Ion Array Frigates.

After that, from every mission out, steal everything that's an Ion Cannon Frigate or bigger. It's almost too easy.

Gotta disagree. I thought the gameplay was great! I remember having plenty of exciting, edge of my seat moments while playing, hoping I had enough ships and trying to get my forces in the right places once the attack came.

well, i like to build up my force before going into combat, and on mission 3 you cant do that, nor do you have time to research

and on mission 3 (at least cos i havent gotten past it yet) you can't gwet a big enough force for ANY tactic to succeed.

iv been stuck on that one level for over a year

Uhm, you should make a big fleet in mission 2, because they will all spawn in the next mission,..

Also, if you look in your game directory there's a save file of your mission begin status, you can change that in a way you have a ridiculous amount of recourses and units.

Or just do what I do when I really get stuck in a game. Do an online search for a walkthrough. :) Come to think of it, I think I pretty much did what SNoRRo suggested and built a big-ass fleet at the end of the previous mission.

hmmm time to evaluate your tactics! i beat the game easily in a few days, without really trying. i found HW1 harder. you know you can take all the time in the world to build and gather before going to next mission....

hmmm. i often have about 4 carriers, each one devoted to a specific kind of ship and i have them on backorder, so as soon as ships die they are replaced.

you make me curious, i wanna play that game again, it's been quite awhile, maybe i can get a tip for you

The graphics look pretty decent (or you have low values because recording) But is the game itself good? Im big fan of hard sci-fi (Alastair Reynolds' books for example) and Id like to know more about this game. So is this all about commanding your units or can you fly your own ship itself? And how big the galaxy itself is?

This game is already pretty old, but for its age it can still compete with some of the modern RTS games.

It has an interesting story line, though it is not that complicated.

Its more about controlling fleets than being the commander of 1 ship.

anyway you can get the game for 5 dolars so its worth a shot

5 stars for the idea, 4 stars for the clip selection, 3 stars for the music (the soundtrack has better tracks, this one's too cliche) and 3 stars for the editing (needs a better sync between the track and the clips in the end, more intense and dense transitions). Overall: 4 stars, and a minute in viewing the video well spent.

Little known fact, Homeworld was being developed as BSG the game but couldn't get the rights to the franchise.

So they made something better.

tokath when you play vs cpu and set unit cap to max you can make 25 capships so that is 1 shipyrad and that shipyard builds 24 battlecruisers so you can build more then 3...

The original HW story IS the BSG story - a complete take-off. Genocide of homeworld - last survivors of species on the run through space being hunted down, trying to find their homeworld.

well there are a few differences... in the hw1 game you get to know that the kushan are exiled from their homeworld and when the story begins the first hyperspace test (they think its their first..) is being made and the taidan discover it destroying kharak their 'homeworld' and in bsg they werent planning to go and look for earth but the kushan in hw1 wanted to thats why they reinvented hyperdrive so the story has similarities but it is nowhere near being the same

Homeworld 2 is a great games.And the Homeworld story is somewhat like BSG.Some people are making a BSG mod for homeworld 2.I tryed a demo..its awesome. I don't mean to advertise but the link is www.battlestarmod.com.BSG ROCKS!!!
