@Rainybliss The box set is absolutely worth the money. I've listened to all four albums many, many times, and I've watched the DVDs provided several times, as well!
Cause maybe Townsend in his infinite wisdom decided to make a song he liked? An artist makes music that expresses how they feel, you just get to view their stream of consciousness, the songs not for you.
Can everyone who has twitter please bomb devin with "please post lyrics to ho krll"
on his formspring ask me questions thing too. Please. I have been because I really want to know that hes saying, this is probably my favourite song of his. DO IT! If we all ask him maybe he'll feel pressured..
I feel like this is a pretty decent transition between Deconstruction and Ghost. Maybe I'm diluting it with my own personal feelings about the song, but it fits; after the final liberation in "Poltergeist", this feels like a "getting your shit together" song, taking a first unsteady breath after going through some massive stress. The meticulous but huge buildup, the forward-looking lyrics ("let me go through into tomorrow") and the very peaceful coda seems like it fits the DTP story very well.
This is what Dev's brain would sound like if you could hear it whirring away as he thinks up more epic music. Loved his racket since I heard Detox (SYL) on a Metal Hammer compilation cd fecking years ago I think around about the Infinity period or a bit before then. Met him a few times, such a warm, funny all-round wicked guy.

man, when the guy feels like doing a coherent guitar solo, he can really give a nice one. I loved the solo until the pitch shifted sweeping, it was amazing
Couldn't agree more....the solo was perfect until that sweeping part! That's probably the only thing I wish Devin would change and occasionally add more straight-ahead type solos to his music... but his distaste in guitar solos is widely known so....
Where do get this from, I got some of the bonus songs from Ghost 2 when I bought the Calm and the Storm album pack and was just wondering where one would go about getting this from.
@lasoogneypubes dont believe everything on the internet. dev has told me directly on twitter that Z2 has always been the plan. it just isnt what he's going to do next. Epicloud will be the next album. plus he also included that Z2 will include much more guest stars then Decon.
@bugasmike Actually he said he was working on Ghost 2, Z2 was going to happen whenever he felt like it. But then again, I would prefer a Z2, the first was just a epic musical. :)
@oAPXo actually ghost 2 is already done its just left over ghost tracks that gave off a dark vibe and didnt fit the music on ghost. Z2 will be a full on musical with lots of guest appearances it will happen after EpicLoud. EpicLoud will have anneke on it. nothing about it being a musical. although he has been playing lots of bass for it..
actually i think i remember reading this in an interview somewhere as well, but he ended up changing his mind, we ARE talking about devin townsend here, he tends to change his mind.
I think this may have been the original beginning for the album until Praise the Lowered came around. This sounds like a good intro song for the insanity of Deconstruction.
Dev said on the forum it did not make it on the album because the mix wasn't to his taste. And I kind of agree, the track is mind great but sometimes you hear either too much drum or guitar and not enough the vocals.
@rodhavji You know, your comment is simply spot on. It just seems that Devin is incapable of making bad music. Everything he releases is pure brilliance, each in its own right. And the diversity makes his music that much more interesting.
@vulturedesign I totally agree on this one.Often, those who accuse other of being 'fanboy's.forget they also love certain music, which, according to them, makes them in their own right what they call music enthusiasts.
Music relates to peaple. It all comes down to personal experience.
See, I love this song, and think it's a great last song for the album. At least, in the context of listening to the DTP albums in order. For me, the beginning of this almost feigned the beginning of Ghost, since I wasn't looking at my music player. Also, I honestly wouldn't use "chaotic" to describe Decon. Yes, it's crazy and changes a ton, but all the layers in it have their place and are well put together, so it feels complex to me, but not necessarily chaotic.
I think this could have fit in the album, it's not necessarily a heavy track like the rest of the album but it does have an 'epic' feel. I could see it in the middle before the last 3 tracks as kind of a 'breather' track.
No big deal though. Still a cool song on it's own.
This honestly would have fit best on Addicted, not on Deconstruction. Deconstruction is intense, and being a huge fan of SYL, I think that this just wouldn't belong at any point in Deconstruction, just as it would not have fit at any point in Alien or City. Of course, Deconstruction is different from those albums, but the point is still the same.
@Bassbait I have to disagree completely. This track, while not heavy, is definitely chaotic enough for Decon. Addicted is far too calculated and straight faced to have hosted this track successfully, it's a very rigid sounding album, the songs have definitive structure and are a lot surer of themselves.
That's not to say Addicted is better than Decon btw, just saying there's very distinct differences in them and this bonus track would fit the musical tone and structure of Decon more IMO
@theconjob I get your point, but my point is that Deconstruction is TOO chaotic for this. This kind of soft song was already used in "Praise the Lowered". Deconstruction is all about twists and turns, and there's no point in Deconstruction where this song would have been a twist or turn. It's like having "Centipede" in City. It just doesn't fit the flow of the album for me, it feels out of place in an album such as this. This feels, musically, like something to show up on Ziltoid or Addicted.
@Bassbait I think you are right in that this would fit with ziltoid more than any dtp albums. it has that flowing quality that would put it more in line with, say, texada, but the heaviness would make it a great candidate for an idea for a track if there's a Z2.
Stupid iTunes - I'd gladly buy this song as a single, but it's only available if you buy the entire album. Since I already have the CD, I'm not buying it again!
This was originally supposed to be between Sumeria and TMM, so I think it would have fit the flow quite well. Really awesome song, shame it didn't make the cut. Maybe it was a length issue?

Apparently these are some of the lyrics (from the man himself):
Ho Krll, see in my eyes: I will

Peace now...all I ever wanted was you
And I never wanted to know more than I had to
Surrender!
Goodbye goodbye God, goodbye goodbye!
