  • @GoodWhispers The battles on the Eastern Front constituted the largest military confrontation in history. They were characterized by unprecedented ferocity, wholesale destruction, mass deportations, and immense loss of life variously due to combat, starvation, exposure, disease, and massacres. The Eastern Front, as the site of nearly all extermination camps, death marches, ghettos, and the majority of pogroms, was central to the Holocaust.

  • @GoodWhispers Of the estimated 70 million deaths attributed to World War II, over 30 million, many of them civilians, died on the Eastern Front. The Eastern Front was decisive in determining the outcome of World War II, eventually serving as the main reason for Germany's defeat. It resulted in the destruction of the Third Reich, the partition of Germany for nearly half a century and the rise of the Soviet Union as a military and industrial superpower.

  • @GoodWhispers Save England from what exactly?

  • @Da40cal @GoodWhispers Was?

  • @GoodWhispers You didn't have to! Im sorry, you can write what you want here. :)

  • @AuroraWhispers Haha, that one made me smile :) And yes...I'm just saying that the US did not single handedly save the UK from the Germans.

  • Aurora, 6 months later and i'm still listening :) My english have improved alot since my last comment, lol. farther eh <3

  • When you were mentioning names for different amounts of money it reminded me of rhyming slang for different amounts. Five pounds is obviously sometimes called a 'fiver' and the rhyming slang for that is Lady Godiva. 15 pounds is known as a Commodore (which clearly doesn't rhyme) but it's because the band The Commodores wrote a song called Three Times a Lady :)

  • @SusurroQuiete I knew about the fiver, but i didnt know fifteen was a 'commodore', how odd! Twenty five pounds is called a 'pony' for some reason. LOL.

  • Of course Henry VIII changed from being as devote catholic when he did not obtain his own will.

  • I never come farther than: "To me that sounds quite similar to the scottish accent". Then i'm sleeping like an baby lol. I've been listening to this every single night for the last 8 days. Not that ur topics are boring, cuz they r not at all. I love history about countries and stuff like that. But your accent!!...dang...simply EARGASMIC! : ) Subscribe on it's way.

  • I agree with everyone else here, you would be a fantastic history teacher, or a tour guide!! (a whispering tour guide lol)

  • @JordanLeePreston I never really saw the floods for myself because I live high up but you switched on the news channels and it was all you could see! I studies them for my Geography A Level too... and yes, unfortunately I know what you mean by that. :|

  • WHOA. I had no idea about the "full name" and I also didn't know there was a difference between "Great Britain" and the "UK"!

  • @jasminewhispers Hahaha glad I taught you! I didn't know that myself up until a few months ago! :-)

  • @TrendyWhispers Aw, im glad you liked it! I do like living here :-)

  • Just looking at that pic brings back bittersweet memories. I miss it sooooo much! I lived there for about 6 years and can't wait to go back one day. Thank you for providing these facts, I learned quite a bit :)

  • That was really interesting! Thanks Aurora. =]

  • @HellYeah285 You're welcome! :)

  • love all of this, great job. You should be a History teacher =)

  • @WhisperMister1 Thankyou! Thats quite a compliment! :-)

  • This is so well researched! Nice work!

  • @ideasjusticeandmusic Thankyou! Thanks so much! :-)

  • I'm British and I still found this fascinating!! I was indeed impressed that it came from the top of your head and I found the Union flag thing really interesting!! Well done Aurora!! :)

  • @WhisperAdmirer Thankyou! I really enjoyed making this, as well :-)

  • Shouldn't have made this on US Independence Day, you limey redcoat, you! We rebellious, unwashed, colonial masses can't help but give you a hard time today.

But seriously, thanks for another great whisper. I was born, raised and hope to die in the US and I like English-language foreign whispers most of all! The UK and her former colonies (other than the US) is all I can get!

  • @fixedG I know, I realised that just after I uploaded it but I apologise!! (I couldn't help but laugh at the irony) I love a Yank as much as the next person!! God Bless America!! ...And thankyou ;D

  • God save Her Majesty! God save the Queen! :)

  • @jim221jolley Here here!

  • Oh goodness ... I can't help but laugh at the snow. I understand that it's brutal for England, but a foot of snow ... that would be quite the mild winter for us in Canada! It also strikes me how here, we know more about European history than we do about our own. I always thought Bloody Mary and Mary Queen of Scots were different people though...? In any case, all the history is impressive, and as always, a nice relaxing video. My thanks. :)

  • @Elelwyn I can't imagine any more snow, this country was brought to a total standstill... i dont think we could have taken any more snow! It was up to my knee's in places haha. And my apologies, they are different people I dont know why I said that! Bloody Mary IS Queen Mary I of England, the eldest daughter of Henry and Mary Queen of Scots is Mary I of Scotland. Sorry about that I got mixed up a little! And Thankyou! :-)

  • I luv hearing about sports from u! LOL, his nickname is Nole! It was a great wimbledon final! Can't wait for the Olympics! Thanxs for all the fascinating information about your home! Sounds like a great place to visit!

  • @jefferyshimkus Oh I am so looking forwards to the olympics!! And you're welcome! :-)

  • Great vid i love our little island :). But u forgot to mention probably the most important piece of history. The british empire! :(. Also london was the first industrial city in the world and britain lead the industrial revolution.

  • @wooders2310 Sorry! I missed quite a lot of things out but as I said there's so much British history i'd have been here all day talking! But I didnt know that about London... thankyou!

  • @AuroraWhispers its ok :). would you consider doing a part 2? you could talk about the empire then :) lol.

also i learnt a lot of stuff i didn't know i.e. our currency history. thanks for the great vids Aurora :). x

  • @wooders2310 I'd love to do a part 2 video! Theres so much more stuff I could talk about. And I learnt a lot from doing this too, so you're welcome! :) x
