Smaller gardens that use companion planting actually produce more (and pull in more because corn is so cheep). And we do no good to countries in Africa by making them rely on a constant food supply from foreigners.

It's more about the fact that industrial farming is unsustainable and it doesn't actually keep farmers in business. @Lancer19962 They taught me that industrial agriculture did all those things, and that we could fight it by promoting local, sustainable agriculture and slow food movements. I don't have any pets now, but I realize the effect of such things. My family buys free range, locally processed meat, and we grow a lot of our own vegetables. You've got to stop assuming I'm a supporter of industrial agriculture just because I'm not flaming at the mouth.

GMO's (not to mention pesticides and fertilizer, which are worse imo) are damaging, but they isn't a study that can prove that they alone cause diseases. Yes, cancer rates have gone up, but that seems to be more due to our change in diet then such a faster. If you can link me to some hard proof, I would be obliged.

For the people knocking on the way we grow crops... take a step back and realize that without the developments that bring higher yields, there would be major food shortages. Aimed at keeping crop prices high, did so by ordering the mass destruction of crops as well as animals, pigs,chickens, etc. The Roosevelt admin enacted a tax on agricultural products to pay for that destruction. @Lancer19962 They taught me that industrial agriculture did all those things, and that we could fight it by promoting local, sustainable agriculture and slow food movements. I don't have any pets now, but I realize the effect of such things. My family buys free range, locally processed meat, and we grow a lot of our own vegetables. You've got to stop assuming I'm a supporter of industrial agriculture just because I'm not flaming at the mouth.

GMO's (not to mention pesticides and fertilizer, which are worse imo) are damaging, but they isn't a study that can prove that they alone cause diseases. Yes, cancer rates have gone up, but that seems to be more due to our change in diet then such a faster. If you can link me to some hard proof, I would be obliged.

Aimed at keeping crop prices high, did so by ordering the mass destruction of crops as well as animals, pigs,chickens, etc. The Roosevelt admin enacted a tax on agricultural products to pay for that destruction. I've been to 45 states, and I chose to live in Iowa. This video is awesome. Iowa is not a hick farmer state. It's is a northern progressive state, with a mostly urban, well-educated population. That's pretty good. I once stayed in Iowa for a few days, in nice hotels in three different cites. My company paid for it as we were there to help the local governments / city engineers for some bridge safety issues. I travel to many regions throughout North America as a consultant, and I must say that I would NEVER go to Iowa for recreation. I would NEVER choose to live there.
