  • The Third Armored will never die! Spearhead Desert Storm!

  • The one dislike is a scumbag

  • I have a question concerning the halftrack of min. 7:50.

    What is it?

  • @LongknifeTrooper

Looks like an M3 Halftrack converted to have a Crane were the troop carrier used to be, i am not sure, but it could also be a 75MM Gun Cariage on top of an M3.

  • @LongknifeTrooper its a m15 halftrack

  • I served 6 Years with SPEARHEAD in Germany!!

  • 3rd Armored is one of my favourite divisions in WW2. Great video about great soldiers!!

  • love the Medal of Honours: Heroes background tune..

  • Excellent job. Thanks very much for putting the effort into it. There is quite a bit of information in your video that isn't in the History Channel's DVD. My father was a tank driver/bow gunner in light tanks - 33rd Armored Regiment of the 3rd Armored Division.

  • Great job! Hope you did well on the project. I miss all the tankers who I knew and are now gone.

  • My father served with 3rd armored divison 32nd armored regiment in WW2 from Normandy to end of the war. His name was Lee Garrett also known as Jiggs.

  • "Death Traps" by Belton Y. Cooper is one of the finest WW2 memoirs I've ever read. It tells the story of the 3rd Armored division's action from it's formation until the end of the war. It is one of those books you can't put down once you start reading it. Historically accurate with a lot of interesting details and stories.

Tankers are some of the bravest men on the battle field!

  • @randy95023

I own the book, have read it, and agree with you 100%. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in the 3AD, WWII, or tank warfare in general. Thanks for the post.

  • I served 6 PROUD years with 3rd AD. 1976-79/1980-83

    The Rock & Ray Barracks.

  • Happy Veterans Day. Thanks for all you did.

  • My Grandfather served in the third armored division as well. Headquarters company. Vincent Marino.

  • Does anyone know where I can find military records or accounts to find out exactly where my Grandfather was and what he might have experienced and who he was with through his tour with the 3rd Armored Division? He told me several stories before he died back in 2000 but did not like to speak about it.

If anyone knows that would be a great help because I would love to know where he was and what he had experienced while there.

  • rickhamlet,

You could try the Thrid Armored Division Archives at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. (depending on where you live, of course)

You could also check e-bay for a book called "Spearhead in the West". It's a detailed account of the entire divisions exploits during the war and the main source material for my video. Hope that helps.

  • Great...Thanks so much. Awesome video by the way!

  • Great tribute to the 3rd Armored Division men.Thank you for posting. I'm living in area liberated by 3rd AD in Normandy and consider these men as heroes. Hope to see more of tribute like yours.

  • Great Job, Very well done! I think these 5 parts covered the WW2 part of our history better than The History Channel video. Dave 3-36 Inf. 3AD 1964-66 Davy Crockett Section, Kirch-Göns, Germany

  • Thanks for the kind words. Happy Veterans Day and thanks for your service.

  • Thank you for the information, I appreciate it.

  • Thank for the video. My grandfather Marvin M. White served with Co. D 83rd Recon Bn., 3rd armored div. in WW2. I was just talking to my grandmother last weekend and she said that Maffea was one of his best friends. I was wondering where you got the video clip with him in it as I would like to contact him to ask a few questions.

  • The video clip is from a History Channel Documentary called "Rolling Thunder: The True Story of the 3AD". I'm not sure if it's still available, but I bought it off of the History Channel website. Hope that helps.

  • Thanks for this. 2-32 Armor Ayers Kaserne 1983-87.

  • I appreciate you taking the time to put this out. Well Done!

  • Spearhead!! 3rd A.D. Band 1986-92

    " B-b-b-band on the Berm!"

  • Spearhead Baby! Former ASST S-2/S-2, 4-7 CAV, Third Armored Division 1989-1991.

    Great video!

  • I appreciate the comment, especially from a veteran.

    Thanks for all you've done!

  • Yea... My dad was in the 3rd AD that same time.. He told me it was disbanded after the Gulf War. That is what he always wore as his combat patch until he retired in 2006

  • If people are going to give stuff a bad rating, at least have the courage to explain why in the comments.

What "specifically" do you dislike about it enough to give it one star?
