i'm disappointed with BMW. where's the point in building an suv with 550hp when they have the m5 (or m6), with almost the same power, and even better acceleration and handling? i guess that's an attempt of BMW 2 please the american market and its fuckin' suv's trend. i agree with niswel, i hope this trend dies soon. i hate suv's and love sedans. what else can i say? suv's are heavier, slower, have less handling and r less aerodynamic (not to mention they're ugly as hell)

Gee, there is the ML63 AMG and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, both of which have 500+ HP, BMW wanted in on that. Mercedes has had AMG variants of the ML since the 90's. And BMW had a X5 Lemans with the Le Mans 700 HP V12 (a modded version of the Mclaren S70/2 racing unit). So, already had in mind a hyper X5 from the get go.

most of you commenting fail to realize, the X5 and X6 (all variants) are built by AMERICANS in America. I have visited the facility in Greer, SC where BMW is currently building a $500mil addition to the existing plant so they can build the X3 aswell. Basically come next summer...ALL Sport Activity Vehicles for BMW will be built at this site. I personally dont have a warm spot for the X6 but man this M variant makes it a head turner given the estimated perfomance but the price is a bit wee steep.

That is a really interesting exhaust note. From what I hear here, it sounds like there is one turbo for each bank of cylinders. So, in my mind, it sounds like a 4-cylinder for the most part. I know, I know, I could be totally wrong, but does anyone here a striking resemblance to a 4-cylinder sound? Yes, I hear a hint of v-8, but the dominant sound is a 4 to me. I like the car, but think it sounds odd. Anyone agree? BTW, love the video. That's how car vids should be. No music.

Its about time BMW comes up with cars which rivals the high end Cayenne and AMG M class. But these type of performance suvs seems very unnecessary... however... as long as there are rich ppl willing to flaunt their money, there will always be a market. But I'd rather buy an M3 or M5. My dream is to get an M3 after I finish school.
