You know alot of people diss Peter Criss for being fired and having a bad solo career, WELL you know what at least this stuck to his roots and beliefs when he did his solo projects and didnt sell out, this man is the real deal because he cared about the music and he did what he loved doing even if it wasnt successfull.

Peter may have fell, but atleast he fell with dignity and had a good crack at it, just because his stuff didnt sell dosent make him a bad artist or musician.

TinMan, I don't know where your "official word" is from but he was FIRED. The band had a meeting with Bill Aucoin after the recording of Unmasked and AFTER they gave Peter one last chance. Peter came back saying he had been working with Jim Chapin, a famous drum teacher. He was acting very strange and kept wanting to check his sheet music and that's when the band knew it was over. Reference Kisstory Volume I page 305. Peter has often lies or simply doesn't remember right about the past. DRUGS!

What Peter seems to forget in this interview, as he always does, is that he was FIRED from Kiss. I have nothing but respect for what the man did in the band but lets face the facts here. He screwed up TWICE in Kiss. So did Frehley.

@Klinkle I don't know where you got that from, but official word says Peter quit. Also, if Peter and Ace did screw in KISS -- which they probably did -- so did Paul and Gene. Gene often forgot the lyrics to his songs, Paul often lost his voice and sang out of tune. Peter and Ace may have been stone out of their faces most of the time, but they were a part of the original KISS. They were not employees, they were not sidekicks, they were not clones, they were not impersonators. They were the ones!

@simmonz58 Peter wasn't held back at all, and if it was it was for his own good. Peter's influences and desires were more of a pop/blues/jazz/softer rock sound (look at his 78 solo album) and he wanted to make KISS more his style.

Ace was the one held back and Paul even admits it saying they should have listened to him instead of Ezrin when The Elder was being produced.

(He worked with the group from the "Love Gun" to the "Unmasked tour" in Australia.) Gene wasnt really the bad guy, It was Paul that was the bitchy, egotistical diva and Gene was actually pretty stable minded.

@MRTTMT - you mean Rock am Ring, i know that event here in Germany. Was there 1997, KISS sounded better. I don't like fake-Ace and fake-Peter - if they are the "new KISS" what Stanley and Simmons are talking about, they have to do it - like in the past with Vincent and Carr...but not with two Muppets. I know that Peter is not the best drummer! And i don't like his interviews, most time he talks about money. For that reason i like Ace -met him last year in Berlin, great guy...just into music.

The reunion was a great experience for any Kiss fan. It made Kiss a buzzword again, the band went from half empty arena's and hotel conventions to selling out stadiums. Even if they had to slow it down to Peter's level, Paul and Gene smelled so much money they canned the band who was musically better and worked with two guys they didn't care for and now bitch about.

Listen, Ace was a drunk, Peter was an angry man, and Paul was a Peace Maker{Lover}, and Gene was just an asshole, but a sober one. Gene's motivations were to say fuck you to the dad that walked out on him by being successful, and to honor his mother. Gene, Paul, and Ace had a lot of pain, and demon's. It's too bad cause they were amazing together.

According to KISSTORY, he had gotten so bad on coke and other things that his drumming was third rate. Listen to Dynasty. The only song he played drums on was "Dirty Livin". The drumming was soft while the rest of the album was drummed by Anton Fig (Letterman's drummer). You can really tell a difference.
