Things would change around you. You would always have to keep moving and running. Forests get torn down. You would never know what happens when you die. Part of life is death. No matter how scary it is. I wouldnt drink the water. I mean I cant say for sure but I dont think I would. What if Earth explodes?

@lll513x Well its really weird. Winnie is 11 in the book. And Jesse kept trying to get her to drink the water. She didnt....But you could say she liked him, even though it was never really mentioned in the book. And instead of Jesse coming to town, Mae and Tuck(his name is Tuck Tuck :P) did. And i dont know if this happened in the movie but instead of drinking the water Winnie poured it on a toad. Because like i said shes only 11.

Just because she loved him doesn't mean she couldn't move on, as pessimistic and unromantic as it sounds. I believe that there may be true love, but that we can love others. Sometimes, we have to move on and I'm sure Winnie had her reasons.

I haven't seen the movie yet, though. I'm going to soon and hopefully, she does have reasons, because right now I half agree with you. I don't understand why she left him. It's kind of like she abandoned him and left him to suffer an unceasing life alone.

Excuse me? This was set in early America. It's not as if there were other races living lives like these characters during that time. It's more realistic and adds to the greatness of the movie this way. Besides, there are plenty of fairy tales with other races, like the Disney Classics. Also, my version of Cinderella has an Asian and an African American as the Prince and Cinderella. And there's like a billion different versions of Pocahontas, the role being a Native American.

i only saw part of this movie like twice (i never saw the beginning) on a cruise i went on (i got sick..so i was in bed all morning) and it was soooooooo sad...i cried for three days afterwards...(i am an emotional person as u can tell) in school...i would just burst into tears and the teach would ask wut is wrong and i said 'he came back 4 her...but she was dead!!' and cried like all day..i know i sound very stupid and probably am..but I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!
