On FCP when I was dragging the media into the main box thing, the menu to insert with transition, or insert normally dis-appeared on roll over. Is that bad?

Thanks I don't put much effort into this channel at the moment so most of these vids are really poorly thought out. I'm glad people still find them helpful though. I'll put more regular time into it someday.

Even though they operate differently I think it's great to go from iMovie to FCP because iMovie gives you enough of the basics to give you the feel of how the editing process works. Don't be too overwhelmed with all the bells and whistles of FCP, just learn one thing at a time and move slowly.

what does rendering video do? or what is it?

Technically speaking.. rendering is computing the processing of the outline of an image using color etc to make it into a 3 dimensional image you can see. You need to do it before you can see the changes you apply to media.
