Petra - Wake Up

I've listened a couple of tunes from Petra (from 2 albums - this and 80-s) and it's the song that I REALLY like. Others didn't interest me that much. Does anybody knows similar songs from Petra?

Great Petra music. I used to have this cd back in 94, and didn't know they go back that far as early 70's, but again the sound it's from around those days. You can tell right away. Great, but great Petra music. Love this southern rock sound!!

What's really interesting is that Petra's future keyboard player, John Lawry, played keyboards on a Joe English song also titled Wake Up, in 1982. When I saw them perform this song live in concert in 1984, just before Lawry joined Petra, Lawry also sang lead vocal and sounded like Greg Volz.

In many ways, these guys remind me of the 70's rock band America. Of course, America's music was not overtly Christian. But the music (at least on Petra's early albums) is similar. An amazing band.

I saw them in the early 70's in a small college chapel in Reading Pa. and they blew me away. Then I heard some of their later stuff online and wondered what the hell happened to a great band. RIP original Petra.

Petra after this album sucked. I knew them when they recorded this and $1000 was a lot of dough in 1974 GREG HOUGH has a little lisp and sings Not Ashamed. He played a beautiful 1955 Gold top Les Paul with the P-90s. Bob played an SG 1962 or later. I have some cassette tapes of them and Phil Keaggy if anyone cares.

best album so far! i have a battle between beyond belief :P but this rock is so original in CHRISTIAN ROCK - not even other bands like REZ or GUARDIAN make a sound like this... this was the wave with the eagles, cream, and bands like that
