  • Gambon is unbearable compare to Harris.

  • They corrupted the plot so much

  • The first scene in 6 was unbearable. Oh wait, the entire 6 was unbearable.

  • I hated the 6th movie

  • The reason the harry potter movies are so mediocre compared to the books is that they're aimed towards children.

  • Comment removed

  • Goblet of Fire and Prisoner of Azkaban are the best ones imo

  • I enjoyed how cinematic the sixth movie was. What bothers me about book adaptations is that they're just subdued visualizations of the books. But this one takes advantage of cinematic elements that separates he medium from others.

  • belatrix

  • I didn't like the 6th book the first time I read it (the day it was published), but recently I have re-read the whole series and I like it. Quite. My favourite is 7th.

Didn't like the movies, none of them. Never liked Snape either, but Alan Rickman seems to be the only convincing character.

  • I genuinely enjoyed the Harry Potter books. The 6th was one of my favorite books in the series, I was actually surprised that not a lot of people liked it as much. As for the movies, they never really did it for me. I didn't like the first three, the fourth one was completely rushed, but the last two (or three) I liked.

  • i agree about gambon. btw its pronounced gambin :D i agree. i thought he was a fucking homo. but now i want him as my grandfather. lmao. i want alan rickmans voice.

  • :O I hated #6. Its ws pretty inaccurate. others were cool. #5 I think wus my favourite. :)

  • Fuck Harry Potter.

  • @EliroX904 I coudnt agree more

  • you didn't mention tom felton :(

  • Harry Pothead And The Half-baked Prince

  • @GamingIdiot42Neo LMAO. Comedy spin-off anyone? Haha good one.

  • "I don't remember the name of Helena Bonham Carter's character". Beatrix. . . I think.

  • @razorath92 It's Bellatrix...

  • Harry Potter and the half-black chick

  • This movie was fun to watch, but it was really shitty as far as following what happened in the book...worse then the other movies. The Weasely's house burning scene was completely made up, and the ending was pathetic. "Oh yea guys, let's just raise are wands and not tell the importance of albus' tomb until the next movie? sounds good right, yea let's do that." pft

  • fuck you Charles Dickens JK Rowlings way better

  • I really like how TJ reviews films.

  • they made a fucking romance out of the whole movie. they cut off the complete ending. this was probably the worst harry potter of all.... sorry, disagree.

    (hermione is hot, agreed)

  • @Taboran I agree, the ending was ripped off like the balls off of a unicorn and it was so muddled. And I fucking adore the HP universe.

  • What?! Cody=Ron???

  • i find this movie being the most boring one, funny that u find it the best one.

i dunt like harry pottery that much anyway, only went to wach it becuz my girlfriend wanted to wach it.

  • yeah! go Snape!!!

  • I dont know if its just me but Snape is the only character in the Harry Potter movies that I actually identified holistically with from the books. xD

  • I would say the opposite, I thought the first five films were pretty good and this was a complete letdown. This film avoided storyline as nothing plausible had happened within the first 60 minutes and the end of Dumbledore just seemed like an audience pleaser if not an excuse for the films existence.

  • @whoisthatgothguy The thing is, I found that when I was reading the 6th book I couldn't avoid teh sense taht Rowling had lost her shit. She should've said in the first book that wizard school only lasted a couple years, and she ended up being roped into 7 books. the 6th book was a rather bland book in that it seemed liek it only existed to set up the events of the seventh - i.e. dramatically speaking Dumbledore needed to die. It was teh movie that finally surpassed the books, in my opinion.

  • Only good transformers is the 1987 animated version. I am 14 an love every thing older.

  • @Doctalen Wait, you retroactively watched the 1987 version? I don't usually say this, being an 18 year old who still plays Yugioh from time to time, but you are an incredulous nerd. At least the shows that I get obsessed with are fairly contemporary. transformers just doesn't sound like teh sort of timeless classic taht needs to be sought out by all future generations for the sake of preserving and continuing all taht is good about humanity, as an eternal basis of its artistic endeavours.

  • @TheMinxTail O I know it's not A timeless classic but as stated it's the only good movie under the name transformers. Incredulous nerd and proud of it. It seems you jump to conclusions that it's the only movie I own or watch.I own many movies and am always looking to get more. Why? Because I enjoy Film like you enjoy Yugioh (That's a card game right?). Did I seek it out? No. I came across it in a going out of business blockbuster. That's not a movie I would seek out. Anyway. Have a good day.

  • @Doctalen I was being sarcastic because I think I'm funny. Unfortunately, tone does not translate well into text - at least not with this character limit. Like what you like, I was just having a chuckle at your expense, and hopefully not to much of your expense. Yugioh is an extremely guilty habit for me though. I hate the cartoon, but I've played the card game since I was like 10 or something, and I've gotten REALLY good at it. And my collection costs a LOT, so I don't toss the cards away

  • Helena Bonham Carter? Is that Bellatrix Lestrange?

  • @Wrash16 Yes.

  • @Wrash16 Yes. I have no idea who Helena is but I know that Belllatrix was the one interrogating Snape.

  • @mslewp She's the actress who plays Bellatrix.

  • why is he wearing a hat, also, does that count as a hat or a cap?

  • @Fibah very nice psych reference.

  • Hey Alan Rickman! where's her goin' where's he goin.... exacly!

  • As an adaption this movie was terrible, as an indipendent movie it was ok i guess.

  • @SpawnRevenge92 totally agree. Can't stand how much it messed up.

  • Fuck yeah, now I'm gonna dress up like the Hamburgler and break into houses. "Bitch! Where your burgers at!" can be my catch phrase!

  • agree with everytinhg you said

  • I love the HP books. They're amazing, but not my favourite books. The movies are...meh...good, I guess, but not as great as the books.

    But still, HARRY POTTER RULES!

  • I thought this movie was complete shit

  • Love Harry Potter!

  • great reviewgasm...

  • Are you wanking? or just in a weird rocking chair?

  • @0mgskilla mwaaahahahahahahahh lolo

  • Harry Pothead sucks now and forever.

  • @Nagneto Lol? Harry Pothead? That's a god name! It makes harry potter even better! pothead! Lol!

  • lol, my girlfriend made me went to see this one with her, n i almost fell asleep. it was mostly dialougs

  • @gundamnduke0 your grammar sucks balls dude!

  • @gamerdude8600 n ur a fuking moron

  • @gamerdude8600 o im srry, i guess u spent too much time on grammar that u cant even talk. i feel bad 4 u!

  • @gundamnduke0 lol what? That dosen't make sense at all...

  • @MegaLolburger if u look at the way he speaks in his video, u kno wat im talking bout

  • Great movie. I enjoyed it!

  • You're just jealous because my wand is bigger than your wand!

  • transformers 2 sucked dick ha

  • transformers 2 sucked dick

  • No Country for Old Men is so awesome!

  • i'm a fan of the books. and i liked the first two movies. i HATED 3 4 and 5 though. that's why i was presently surprised that i enjoyed 6. i hope deathly hallows is good.

  • your book sucks

  • @ChristianToker

    hahaha

  • I never really liked Harry Potter. I don't know why, I just never got into the books/movies. I did like Transformers though.

  • Yeah it's like she went through puberty in that one transition. And she is a nerd! That's awesome! (No she really is a nerd)

  • andyandcarl um...... thats kind of common in in fact your the target reader.

  • I'm a hormone infused 14 year old and i like Transformer and Harry Potter

  • @Nikolas100o10oao I'm a female tween and I like twilight

  • @andyandcarl Such a surprise!

  • lol at the end I thought you were just gonna spoil the whole thing :p

"..really fun Summer movie and uh, Snape's evil and Dumbledore dies"

  • were you in a rocking chair when you made this?

  • Harry Potter filmes have lost its touch.. I very liked the first movie. I liked the second too. But since the third movie I was frustrated...

    Hollywood killed the Illusion..

JKR betrayed her books for the cinema..

I very very liked the fantasy of a british wizard-shool with uniforms ugly teachers etc.

Do you know what they made out of this fantasy?

In my opinion they've made a damned Action-Blockbuster, Harry Potter and his mighty wand, all he have to do is say two words and aim. f- gay, sorry

  • I also really liked the movie, however I do have one complaint, there is too much empathisch on the love stories between the characters, I understand it's important for the character development, but at some point it just felt it was slowing down the movie.

  • Good thorough review. Thank you

  • are you fucking kidding me man? HBP was definitely the worst movie of them all...adding things that never happened, cutting important scenes...stupid scenes...has any girl EVER tied a guy's shoe? was that sposed to be 'romantic'? yates and kloves need to get another profession.

  • @eaglewillfly "adding things that never happened, cutting important scenes"

    I agree.

  • @eaglewillfly I'm not sure but the tying of the shoe to me makes me think of hidden sexual innuendos and submission .

  • geez t.a.a. even ur voice is irritating dude

  • The shitty thing is that once youve see 2 or 3 of the movies you have to see the rest.

  • I was looking forward to this movie for a year, when I found out it wasn't going to be released until June instead of November I was so pissed off, but when I finnaly saw it I was a little disappointed at how much was not in it, don't get me wrong, I loved the film, but I was looking forward to seeing alot of stuff that I didn't get to see. Hopefully the last film (or last two films) will make up for all that. We can only hope.

  • I never thought the movies were that great. I just don't think they pack the same emotions as the books. I feel like they cater too much to the younger generation with keeping things PG - PG13. I would love to see a rated R version of the harry potters

  • @HRRyan2 yeah, starting with goblet of fire they should have gone all-in and made them dark and dangerous with an R rating. the first three movies were ok, i liked them...from then on, they went into a tailspin, and i don't see them pulling out of it for DH.

  • @HRRyan2 They cater to their intended audience? The books were MADE so younger generations could read them as well! Harry Potter should NEVER be made into a rated "R" movie that would defeat. . . the whole purpose.

  • Transformers sucked, I am indifferent towards harry potter.

  • Am I the only person who has trouble believing that Snape was really the half-blood prince?

Didn't the sixth book say that the potions book was published too long ago to have belonged to harry's dad (and snape was in the same grade)?

I'm probably wrong but I think it was Voldemort's book who somehow imparted knowledge to Snape when snape become a death eater.

  • @Jarut195 "half blood prince" is not quite as it seems see snape is a "half blood" and his parents name was "prince"

  • @Jarut195

NAH - The book was snapes' mums. his family was kinda poor so he didn't have a new book.

  • dude a 7 hour harry potter movie would be fucking epic

  • Asperger syndrome is having difficulities in social interaction.

Are you thinking of torretes syndrome?

  • @TheDragonAlan critic of a critic....lolz

  • @lambo525 Critic of a critic critisizing a critic. x] Lol.

  • Critic of a guy making fun of a critic, criticizing a critic...LOLZ :-P

Its an endless cycle of Youtube cock docking lol

  • i liked harry potter when i was like 7

  • The worst thing about dipshits like this is that they think they're smart but they're the biggest dumbasses you've ever seen. The self proclaimed social critic is usually the biggest loser. Here we have example number one.

  • You didnt like transformers but you did like gay ass harry potter????

  • Well. . .he didn`t want to be accused of liking gayass transformers AND gayass hairy pothead.

  • 0:58 You should dress up as the Hamburgular for one of your skits.

Just think about it, whether it's a good idea, or just a stupid thought, I think it would be hilarious.

  • skyzo

  • I think Yates could have done better. I mean the Harry Potter series is not a love story. This movie focuses too much on kissy kissy goo goo romance. And adding a scene that destroys a major setting in the next book? WTF? I don't care about them leaving stuff out that is unimportant, but they should have put in the battle and the funeral. Not having a battle at the end insults the Hogwarts teachers, and doesn't show how powerful they really are. And the assassination had no emotion.

  • They just killed Dumbledore and ran off. Harry was just surprised, rather than horrified and shocked. And I agree that they made the dialogue more mediocre. Most of the explanations about things like who the HBP is or mentioning that the hairy guy following Bella around is Fenrir Greyback are a lot more subtle than they should be. Hopefully David will tie up the loose ends for the 7th movie. But I like how they made tons of funny jokes.

  • Still, I'm going to buy the movie because I saw the midnight showing, so I might have been tired and everything flew by. I'm willing to give this movie a second chance.

  • I missed the scene between Dumbledore and the Dursleys but it would have slowed down the beginning a lot.

  • Are you afraid of Harry Potter fans? You keep nulling most of your complaints out.

  • yes i actually missed that part to and her name is bellatrix demons

  • Dumbledore is homosexual

  • i liked the books they were really good, and most of films were pretty average, predictable, but i really liked the fifth one for some reason, it just stood out from the other 5 (or the other four when i saw it in theaters)

  • You gave a good review to a big budget Hollywood movie... that was painful wasn't it.

  • I'm interested to know why you thought Michael Gambon (you did pronounce his name right) was so awful in the beginning. What was so bad about him?

  • Nice job! Your a very smart and articulate person. Keep on making your videos.

  • the part when the burn the burrow was so messed up when does that happen if it does tell me page

  • agreed

  • "Summer movie"? Is that an american thing? In Australia movies are movies, we watch any genre of movie we like regardless of what season it is

  • The bigger budget movies are released during the summer and since school is out and everything more people go to the movies.

  • I wouldn't think so. Schoolkids get the biggest holidays I the summer, so that's the time of year when they just want entertainment, and the most successful "summer movies" are the ones that cater to a wide range of age groups.

  • does anyone else think emma watson looks like princesstard????????

  • The only good HP movies were the first 2 in my opinion. The HBP was fucking abysmal. The contemptable amount of story that was left out of the movie is understandable, but the amount of story that was altered from the book for no good reason, is not. Especially the ending sequence at the top of the tower. Perfect example of the needless changes to settings and story that have been made in all the movies from the Prisoner of Azkaban on.

  • I normally love his videos but he got this review so wrong. i didn't think the hp series could get any worse after seeing 5 but holy fuck was i wrong. 6 was a goddamn abomination of the book. they cut out the epic fight scene and all the end of year tests. they took out dumbledore's funeral, WTF? i also would not mind a 7-8 hours movie (i know i'm in the minority) if they got the story right and had decent actors. this movie gave me a headache and refueled my hatred for mankind and movie goers

  • Huh, I'm with TJ on the prior movies, I'm pretty passive about them, but I think the sixth really drove the whole thing off a cliff. Dumbledore was awful; he was a total dick to Harry in the first scene, being significantly ruder to Harry, who simply wants to know where he's being dragged off to, than to Malfoy at the end of the movie, who is attempting to kill him. Very OOC. And then the rest of the movie was pretty much about a teenage love pentagram.

  • the games are shit but the movies are good i jest wish they whould do better on it

but still one of the best of the world

  • nothing of Tom Felton?

  • Eh I liked the 4th better, mainly 'cause the ratio of kissy-kissy-goo-goo to important plot was too high in the 6th movie compared to the 6th book.; mainly there should have been more memories.

  • Alan Rickman was my favorite too :]

  • What the hell, I'll give it a shot, but at a glance it doesn't look like my thing. If I don't like it then I'll just wander off and watch "There Will Be Blood" "Renaissance" or "Requiem For A Dream" to get my brain stimulated again. I've seen some of the other films but merely tolerated them, none of them really made me fall in love with anything or make me think about anything deeply, which I understand isn't the point, but that's what I look for in a film, hence the titles I mention above.

  • Am I the only person who thinks this piece of atomic dog shit sucks.

  • yeeep

  • great review!

  • I love your movie reviews, TJ. Your love of movies delights me... because so few of my own friends care to discuss a movie at any great length.

  • alan richtman looks like trent reznor. The books are excellent. The Vampire Chronicles and Harry Potter on audiobook are really good if you need aural entertainment for weeks that will keep you rivetted. I have enjoyed your videos all morning. You make me laugh even tho i don't always agree, your opinion is usually the same as mine. How do I talk to you directly?

  • Yeah that movie was ok, it wasnt the best harry potter film but it was ok. I was disappointed with the ending and the performance by the actor who played Ginny Weasley, i feel like that character really really suffered from her very important portrayal in the book.

  • OMG you read Harry Potter... O my dear lord... and you actually like it. I dont respect you anymore! Go away stupid!!

  • i havent seen this and im english, and to be honest i would only go to see it because of emma watson, i like that shes well spoken i find that really attractive in girl, lame i know but cant help it. lol

  • to go see a movie just because your obessed with a girl is pathetic and weak

go watch some porn it is to be honest more respectable than that

  • i was just joking man, jesus fuck why is if someone puts a stupid comment like mine do i always get a response from a insecure asshole

  • Im not insecure im rageful and furious

and i cant exactly tell its a joke its internet

  • i put lol at the end that usually is and indiction that the previous statement is not a totally serious comment, or just dismiss me as a sad asshole, but don't try to direct some miss placed anger at me for no damn reason.

  • im angry at you for being an idiot that was my point

im not insecure cause your an idiot how would that work pff

fucking end of discussion say what u want after this i cant be bothered with this bullshit

  • finally now if you did that at the start we could have avoided the bullshit that was my point, bye

  • You're angry at him for being an idiot? You should look at the way you type.

    That's being an idiot right.

  • if your talking about spelling or grammer then lol

like that means anything its the internet its internet speak

the way people are how they think how strong they are how compassionate and intelligent they are thats what matters but oh no your gonna pull me up on internet grammer. idiot

  • ha ha you called them a loser

  • i R the Hamburglar!

  • I thought Draco stole the show. He really had to reach from sniveling evildoer to confront himself fully as he has been called on to murder. I like to see how he folds under the pressure of his first real moral dilemma. Not the best Harry movie by a longshot. Too many teen hormone scenes that did nothing for me. There was less intrigue as well.

  • The teen hormone scenes pissed me off. Wayyy too many.

  • its fucking shite!

  • Ok, I woon't watch it. But I did click you anyways, you cheap bastard, tricked me one view!

  • You like gay-ass Harry Potter mehhhehehh!

  • great review, good film, especially enjoyed the cave scene :)

  • i thought the love was built up to much in the film and they cut out some important shit and of course they added a random attack scene what the fuck was that about.

  • As much as I loved Half-Blood Prince and agree that it is the best HP film so far, I was really upset about how much Harry/ Ginny romance they cut out.

  • Great review and I'm glad you think that book movies or the Harry Potter books are to limited by their movie counter parts. That brings me to a matter I would like to happen that these books would be made into TV series. I don't care if it's Live action TV, cartoon or Anime I think it would make it more justice to have a 13 or 26 episode series than a 2 hour fast forward plot. I sometimes take as example the Three Musketeers. The Anime made it more justice than any of the movies.

  • After having watched the movie i can say they have indeed kept more in the movie from the book than they have done ever before.

They did leave out plenty of good scenes (bellatrix and snape to be exact).

They added in bits that weren't in the book but that's fine, it was entertaining.

The 3rd film remains my favourite, but half blood prince comes in 2nd to me now.

  • Have to agree with you on the vast majority of points.

I too wasn't all that struck with the previous films, but this one's quality really did show. Me and my sister are huge Alan Rickman fans, so to see him in a more predominant role was fantastic .

  • Really? I've seen three of them (never read the books) and this is my least favorite.

There was. . . no climax, really. In a way, I was waiting the entire movie for something to 'happen,' and it never really did.

  • It's not an action film. That's the problem with the films in the past. They've all been pretty weak in terms of taking the plot of the books and relaying it well to a viewer who hasn't read the books. They spent so much time on the other movies making the action scenes exciting when that's not what the series is about and now, when they actually do a really good job the people who've only seen the movies are like wait, what? Its pretty sad.

  • If we were to speak of direction, then I would have to use the following word to describe it: Awkward.

After seeing black-and-white films where EVERY person in the scene has a place, a purpose, and is DOING SOMETHING, this just felt embarrassing.

Remember when Harry goes into the building and all of the kids come downstairs and give him a hug? Then they stepped back.

    And twiddled their thumbs.

    It was just lame.

Action scenes would have made up for it, I think.

    But that's just me.

  • i ordered my tickets ahead, i just walked past the line with my pass

the book was awesome but the movie was crammed in

  • I think Harry Potter 6 wasn't that ggod. It was funny from time to time but that isn't enough because it was boring most of the time (maybe I don't like drama?).

Why the hell did they take out scenes from the books and make up stuff?

Also i think they used magic without wands...what the f*ck?! That is total bullsh*t! Why would they do that to us, why? it's against everything to books are saying..as much annoying is that every one can fly

  • Old County for old men shows how empty the Choen brothers are now. Just some stylized killing, a weird story, and the bad guy wins.

They were much better at making light of the absurd truths about mankind -- like Oh Brother Where Art Though -- everyscene is fucking fantastic

  • no country for old men was fucking hilariously stupid.

all the charicters introduced in the first 14 minutes were killed in the first 14 minutes.
