  • Wow, this is wonderful! What kind of paper did you use? I particularly love the colors you used in your paintings of the interiors and the open roads! I never would have thought of using a book like that for a travel journal but you certainly made it work.

  • @sparklebluefaery The paper is handmade- I used a recycled paper recipe from arnold grummer. It's part newsprint and part office paper. I'm shocked it's held up as well as it has.

  • haha is it weird that I like the sound of the papers when you turn the pages?! :P

  • @iamveggieburger nope, a lot of people like the sound of turning pages!

  • @comfortableshoesstud haha good :) I tried to make my own paper with a kit once, but it really didn't work...any tips? Did you use a kit? Imogen :)x

  • @iamveggieburger No I winged it, I used instructions from online, it was years ago. This was a blend of office paper and old newspapers. I used some colored office paper in larger pieces for the chunks of color. I couched it on pieces of cheap old sheet. I always say I want to make paper again but never get around to it.. I took a workshop with a guy who couched his paper on a clean piece of smooth plywood.

  • @comfortableshoesstud oh right then, that's good :) I'm going on holiday to san francisco soon and I'm gonna do a little travel diary type thing in one of the altered books I already have. Now I'm just worried about which supplies to take since I won't be able to take everything with me haha x

  • @doghappy101 I was a a small cabin on a lake

  • I love it

  • i love ur journal :))) gud work

can u pls tell me how did u bind the pages together???

  • It's some sort of modified coptic.I stitched it single needle coptic and then looped the raffia around the spine. Raffia is a horrible material to bind with. I'd suggest wrapping it around a real thread and then stitching with that.

  • Wow, when you said handmade, you weren't kidding! What an awesome, eco-friendly idea! :D Thanks for sharing!
