  • Gabriel is greater than any Oscar.

  • So what did he win the Oscar or what?

  • Gabriel left genesis for this shit. can we say sold out !

  • Comment removed

  • He's a red carpet crawler

  • MMMmmmm, insightful. At least he's gentlemanly enough to endure it with good grace. But honestly. Hollywood glamour comes alive? Yep, like a mouldy cucumber in the bottom of a fridge.

  • peter gabriel is beyond amazing one of the best his music videos are awesome it might have cool to see him as an oscar winner. but oh well hes still great.

  • Everyone take a second to glance over every comment below... are you kidding me? Can't we all just agree that Peter Gabriel is amazing? Holy crap. Half of you are arguing over who knows more... typing errors... how their opinion of PG over rules everyone elses... jeez grow up people.

  • Christ. From WWI up until the 90s we all looked up to American culture, but it's become TOO informal, too anti-intellectual, too fucking crazy.

  • he looks like he doesn't want to be interviewed by TV guide. or maybe that joey and whoever that girl was were a bit... um... whats the word... predictable.

  • What a ugly upper lip botox prestenting chick!

  • Peter Gabriel is an interesting person.

On the other hand 99% of "Hollywood" is fatuous.

  • Peter Gabriel is the definition of an artist. People should look to him for influence but never dare to emulate unless you have alot of brass. He is pure class and his music is transcendant. People in Hollywood like Lindsay Lohan or Joey Fatone should not even look him in the eye, he is the Lion and if you stare him in the face he will devour your soul. Hahah seriously hes just a cool dude that makes great music.

  • @shaka1221 He went downhill after Genesis. Classic case of an individual thinking he was the TEAM.. left THE TEAM THAT MADE him and spiraled into the toilet

  • I think you meant Genesis went downhill after him.

  • nope.. I wrote what I meant. He went commercial... Sledgehammer? come on...

  • @guijam94 You don't know anything about Peter and his Music.... He is making such amazing music, which is maybe to high for you....and your intellect is maybe a little bit to small!!!

To be honest Genesis is nothing without Peter!!!

Phil Collins isn't able to make good music....he's just a loser, like YOU

  • @majomann1992 High intellect? Coming from you? Someone who capitalized 'Music' and misused the word 'to(o)'. If you're going to flame on someone for being stupid, use proper grammar so you don't look just as stupid.

Phil Collins isn't a famous musician because he's a loser, mate.

  • @TheJLips13 Hey come on!!!!! Did you ever hear something about things like typing errors????????

  • @TheJLips13 Classic "step your knowledge up moment" from a guy named the JLips to prove his knowledge weener is bigger then the guy he is arguing with. Lol. I don't care who sounds smarter because these responses just look stupid.

  • @guijam94

You don't know anything about him.....You can't say he went downhill, because after Genesis he was making his best music!!!!!! Only Genesis went downhill my friend

  • @shaka1221 OK he is an artist. He just cant sing

  • HE IS A MASTER FOR DOING THE"book of love"

see it in the end of "Scrubs" you will not regret it

  • @bagobuilder Anal lips? Knob.

  • I got to meet Peter in Dublin in 1993 during the 'US' tour. I managed to score a backstage pass after the show. It was one of the best nights of my life. I got to talk to him for ages. Sinead O connor was there, she was stunning all in white. U2 had flown in from Spain. Adam Clayton was engaged to Naomi Campbell at the time and I got a look at the rock on her finger. All in all it is a wonderful memory I will take to my grave. Peter is a wonderful, generous man.

  • First off, go fuck yourself. His solo career surpassed his time with Genesis, and Genesis post-Gabriel became meh-pop.

  • ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME As far as I know, Im definitely not going to sing, Gabriel tells Rolling Stone. I learned at our last reunion [in 1982] that you cant just get up there. You have to rehearse.

  • the NEW Peter Gabriel-album "SCRATCH MY BACK" out middle of February in Europe, beginning of March in the USA : )

  • Fuck man, Peter was tearing shit up in concerts and putting out records when these plastic interviewers were still in diapers.

    He doesn't need this.

  • Well, he's gonna be in Radio City, NY for 2 nights in May, 2010! You can't miss this rare event!

  • Peter Gabriel + WALL-E?

    Awesomesauce!

  • peter gabriel!....... peter gabriel!....

  • What happened to that poor female reporters lips?

  • "why did you choose S.A and Mexico?"

Well, because we also LOVE good music and appreciate a Master!! Stupid woman...

  • It's true! I'm still trying to find out why Mexico and South America have such excellent taste in music. I mean seriously, they are so far ahead of the US in appreciation of great artists.

  • @VladtheEmailer Well, we care more about culture, history, art and the world than about money and the market. We don't make icons of rich people. We're a bit romantic and traditional about family values.

  • @najseba Sounds like a wonderful place to be, except for the traditional family values part anyway. ;-)

  • Argentinians have been influenced by France, Spain and Italy, so we're mix of style and tradition.

  • God I love Peter Gabriel...ever since 1987...even if his (new) wife is just gold digging eye candy...I love him! Hope he made her sign a pre-nup! Wouldn't wanna see that young TART get any of that Sledgehammer money!...But I love ya' Peter!

  • Wooaoo...I love Peter gabriel, I really do. He is really handsome as well.

  • probably one of the most quirkiest yet recognizable voices in rock history, such a lesson, he's the main reason why ive become such a fan of Genesis fairly recently. and im 15...nothing beats the past.

  • IMHO his voice is that of an angel.

  • Wow! I'm totally amazed that someone 15 years old could like Peter Gabriel and the old Genesis from the 70's! You are certainly one of a kind! Too bad you were not around during those days when seeing a Genesis concert was a totally amazing experience. Keep listening! Check out Gentle Giant, ELP, and PFM as well.

  • lol thanks. of course i liked Colins as well but Gabriels direction was more hardcore. everything frome the late sixties to early nineties, everything has changed so much. my friends dad saw them in 1973 when they played more smaller venues and he said they were great live

  • Man, it's so weird to see him so old. Think of those early Genesis days. I still love him. He's the greatest.

  • He shaked their hands! What a legend. Most artists are just too good for that !

  • the best artist

  • Mr. Gabriel is WELL above all this Hollywood crap. He doesn't need this or any other 'Oscar". He is a living legend oscar or no oscar. He has proved himself and is already made a name for himself as a performer. Nuff said.

  • @alcatras4 nuff? no person with respect for peter gabriel would ever use the term nuff you idiot grow up jesus

  • I wouldn't be surprised at all if Gabriel performs with Genesis at the rock and roll hall of fame induction this year. I know Tony Banks is trying to get him in on it. But since Phil Collins can't drum right now I bet they would do like a 1999 version of Carpet Crawlers where they each sing every other verse. Maybe then do a Gabriel era song and then a Collins era song. That would be cool to see and it wouldn't surprise me at all...but i'd still be going nuts.

  • For all those people that are knocking PG for his age(59), you have, obviously not seen him on stage. Jumping up and down in a plastic ball etc etc. The man is fit!!!!

  • no you can't knock 59, my wife is 60....and I'm 38, and she's no slouch. Nothing to do with the vid I know. Apol.

  • in to old people huh?

    kiky

  • I'd use the words "more mature" to be accuate

  • Big Gabriel and big all Genesis

  • Close Encounter of the Third Kind. "...Guys..." :)

  • ahhhhh...Peter...*screams like a little girl*

  • Poor Peter Gabriel gets shrunk down into a small square so we can watch Robert Downey jr......and what retarded questions by the people doing the interview.

I've never watched any of this red carpet bullshit for this particular reason. I can't believe Peter Gabriel puts up with that crap.

  • You are so right about that.

  • @freboi it comes with the territory. Publicity is obligatory regardless of how irritating it might be. This is show business

  • in fact, Genesis was Peter, and it will always be him, Peter and Banks

  • Wow - are you saying he should have stuck with Genesis? Really?

He's made a fair whack of money himself - and has way more respect than Phil Collins - being a much better artist. But then I suppose if you're only interested in the money . . .

  • what's wrong with that song?

  • You are a genius!!!

  • You beond reconigtion with me ;) Michael. These videos nothign of me.enven littile in my perxpsective dont even look.. I do want to be in film at some point. Believe I can add so much to anyhting of this sort.... Thanks for your love,,,

  • this guy is a brilliant musician and he did so many powerful songs that deserved great recognition, yet he does this mediocore soundtrack for a crappy pixar movie and he gets an award. typical american bs.

  • Same thing happened to Santana. All the brilliant stuff he did decades ago, and he gets grammy's for superficial bullshit like supernatural which doesn't even come close to his creative years. These awards shows are nothing more than nerdy exec's desperately trying to appear cool and Happening. Real musicians KNOW who is cool and happening.

  • Regardless of your shallow judgements upon one's shell, this man IS art....And its safe to say he quit worrying about you or anyone else trying to size him up many, many, moons ago...

  • what a nice person. did you see how he gave them both his hand? "stars" from this generation would rather spit in their faces....

  • what is that "thing" on the right?

  • Gabriel has been doing his own projects related to music for years. the man created his own label and studio - who needs hits??

  • he bailed from Genesis and Genesis became a pop band

Peter continued on his own style, being so much famous as Genesis

but is it really fame what is all about? or doing what he loves to do, creating what he wants to create

  • Peter would be the last person to have had a bad run of luck.

  • so I guess he was suppose to stay and do another album to top 'The Llmb'?

It was obvious that genesis had run it's course. Peter Gabriels solo material was equally interesting and Genesis went on to pop music. Phil is a douche btw

  • The real Genesis died when Gabriel left. Sure, I enjoyed some of the music since but it was never quite the same. PG was Genesis.

  • He looks only 49, maybe?

  • That is not nice, Peter hasnt had a big hit since the mid 80's..do the math.

  • FALSE: Peter had a big hit with "Steam" in 1993

  • Oh yea I forgot about that one, I was into alternative music scene back then, so I forgot about the song entirely. In fact I had to see it on you tube again to remember it.

  • I have a rule: if you can still make records like 'Up' then you can still have children. Long live the man

  • her oscar just fell, oh no.......

  • Negative Comments Alert.

    PETER IS AWESOME.

  • Wait...did they say that he just got another kid? 8O

  • actually he is 59.

  • she can't even laugh, her face is complete plastic.

  • 0:18 wtf is going on with her lip.!?? Did someone draw a moustache oh her when she was sleeping?

  • Honestly, THE worst interview I have EVER seen! WOW!

  • ye the guy clearly did not know peter gab was in genesis nor a solo singer since the 70s what a bad reporter. He thought he was a studio singer for the movie what a novice idiot!

  • Im very much in love with Peter Gabriel!

  • Peter is still one of my favorite song writer till today! His music is always a joy to listen...real hear candy!

  • Peter Gabriel is amazingly creative, interesting and still enjoys what he does. He makes great music, he's an inspiration, leave him alone.

  • AMEN! I may not agree with him on all his polatics, but your post is right on the money.

  • Out of the 70+ concerts I've attended over the years, usually top progressive rock bands, Peter Gabriel's So tour was by far the best show I had ever seen. Yes I did see him with Genesis on the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway tour. If you follow his career, you'd know of his courage to dare to be different. Judge him if you want, but could you stand on stage in front of thousands of people revealing your soul? Yeah,.... that's what I thought. ~ Critics ~ always on the sidelines. Never in the arena.

  • God some of these comment are utterly unbelievable. Peter Peter Gabriel is a pioneer, a visionary, and one of the very few people in music worthy of the grossly overused title"artist." Yes the clip is crap, but only because the interviewer is inane and the Gabriel is reduced to a postage stamp sized inlay once he attempts to graciously answer.

  • I'm not sure about the idea that his career was a failure... Unless your way of success is kind of Keep It Simple and Stupid...

  • The things you say about Mr. Gabriel are mean and unwarranted. You probably don't know the man personally, and have no business judging him. He does not owe you an explanation of how he has lived his life. That would be none of your damn business.

  • PETER GABRIEL STILL ROCKS!!!!!!!

  • PETER GABRIEL ROCKS !

  • wow that man have really changed looks since he was younger ..

  • Comment removed

  • porchnapp - do you like huey lewis and the news by any chance?

  • Peter Gabriel is the greatest man ever! Take your hate elsewhere and contribute to Amnesty International. Do something good you worthless A-holes.

  • SHOCK THE MONKEY!

  • Oh, I love that song!! I forgot all about 'Shock the Monkey'--That song is absolutely awesome. I'm gonna listen right now on YouTube, if they have it-Thanks!

  • .

I do love Gabriel's work, so the Genesis (with or without Gabriel) and Phil Collins... (ok, some tunes from Genesis sounds like Phil Solo, but what ever) and they're so different from each other people should notice that!

    .

  • A cage for fruit! To stop the birds eating it. Duh!

  • What the hell is a porchnapp? Did Peter Gabriel refuse you an autogragh at some point? You seem obsessed.

  • Comment removed

  • He is an incredible writer and performer--regardless of what anyone thinks about him leaving Genesis. His solo work blows away anything that any of the other guys did on thier own or with Genesis...buy some and listen...he's an amazing intuitive who's work will live on and be studied long after we walk thi earth.

  • I AM SO SICK of hearing people say this crap..the Peter "blows" away all the genesis and phil's solo albums.

I can tell you, there are far more many times that I want to throw on a Phil Collins album than a Gabriel album.

  • That's your taste and you have a right to it. I think Phil is great, but I have been listensing to the album, "Shaking the Tree" (which throws a great mix of PG's work into an amazing roadtrip soundtrack) since it came out and there are arrangements so beautiful that never fail to move me to tears--nothing Phil has ever written does that for me. That is just MY taste and you can think it is crap if you want to. I listen to Phil, as well but don't ever get an epic feel from any of his work.

  • When were you born

  • He had his reasons, you silly brat.

  • Best- Dismissed from the Beatles. Gabriel- Quit Genesis for his own reasons. Best- Attempted to commit suicide. Gabriel- Humanitarian. I could go on and on how wrong your comparison is.

  • wow.. gotta cut back on the Twiglets ..

  • you can see the interviewers at the end just itching to move on to some self-absorbed, fashion-loving twat.... they should be shot in the forehead

  • PETER GABRIEL - LIVE AT WOMAD 2009 - 25th OF JULY - ENGLAND !!!!

  • So we interrupt a Prog Rock legend's interview with footage of Robert Downy Jr. bitching about something? Yeah, real professional, TV Guide. *eyeroll*.

  • top man that peter gabriel.

  • I would like to see you do better. Idiot.

  • lol

  • Soy Fan de Peter Gabriel, magnifico artista, lastma que parece de 70 años, si se implantara cabeelo y se pintara las canas se veria de su edad real,

  • that girl reporter is annoying

  • Great Concert in Mexico!! I'm his fan since he was part of Genesis. Music is Universal or isn't it??

    Congratulations Peter!

  • she he be having kids at 50? do a north america tour

  • congratulations

  • congratulations

  • i met him irl 2003 =D

  • I'm male, un-gay, but please, have my kid !

  • What it surprises to me, is the interviewer question: "why did you choose S.A and Mexico?"..????? Well...Why not!!!! We also enjoyed good music here!!!

  • thats right !!!

  • i love peter gabriel....just don't like hair-dos blocking the shot. And did the interviewer say: "I'm sure it's not the first time you've done something for a soundtrack or something for a song..."???? errmmmm you think so???

  • lol ya i know what a dummy, he obviously wasn't a fan

  • he said he was coming to South America, Mexico?

Well...I guess not. He is an intelligent man.

    What did he say?

  • No no, he said South America AND Mexico.

  • I think he meant it like "South America AND Mexico". Mexico is in North America, so it's correct to say it that way. :)

  • Peter is our Jesus

  • We don't need no Jesus!

But Peter is something totally different.

  • YES.

  • "Um, Im sure it's not the first time you did a soundtrack..."

no, it would be like the 5th time!

completely ignorant.... they dont deserve to talk to him

  • I can do nothing but agree

  • I've always wondered what it would be like for Einstein to talk with morons. Now I know.

  • LOL..I was thinking the same thing.

  • Peter is so far above all those people...from 1971 with Genesis (The Musical Box) to "Big Time" and "Sledge Hammer". and now he's forced to talk to those morons...I totally agree ilr2008

  • He should have won that Oscar. Slumdog was a fantastic movie, but its nominees for the award were weak.

  • I love him, what a brilliant musician and damn he is still sexy after all these years.

  • yeah - but he went old very fast .. 10min ago i watched "fountains of salmaci" on youtube - look how young he was!

  • Always a class act

  • Who is that woman w/ Peter? Someone known?

  • That woman is his wife .. Meabh Flynn

  • Cool thanks.

    jbirdy

  • AMO QUEST'UOMO!

  • ...a chi lo dici!!!

...questo è un'angelo non un semplice uomo!!!

    è l'Arcangelo Gabriele!!!

    Me?I'm just a fun...

  • I think the Archive Box Set u are talking about is the one recorded at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. If so, yes i have heard it and I do love listening to that version more than the studio. However, for almost every song, with the exception of only a couple, Gabriel overdubbed the vocals recently. You can tell which ones were re-recorded cuz he has that older man voice. But regardless, it is still a great version and Collins is absolutely amazing. That's prolly the best we're gonna get

  • Collins did it, though. And as far as i know, it was a serious consideration to do the lamb reunion before Gabriel decided he didn't want to due to other commitments. That's when the remaining three decided to do the Turn It on Again tour. It may be a stretch but I still hold hope. If i stopped dreaming about it then my life would be that much less exciting:) But then again, maybe old times should be left as old times. I just really wish they had more of and clearer footage of The Lamb show.

  • To: chito59

Pardon my ignorance but what have you done to make yourself out to be a great human being? When you've done as much as Peter Gabriel has for human rights and the fight against apartheid in South Africa then you'll have earned the right to insult someone with his list of achievements.

    corruptsoul69

  • My impression is that chito59 simply wasn't aware of PG's political activism. (Most people aren't.) No need to scorch them to pass on the clue. ☺
