  • ROFL! This bitch is a heart beat away from being president of the United States? God help us

  • HAHAHAHAH. So you assume that I'm a Republican, eh? Why? Because I disagree with you? I'm a radical libertarian. Ron Paul is too big government for me. I do possess some affinity for the facts. A trait with which you are apparently not in the least familiar. Palin is more qualified than any of the other three candidates...and, for a politician, more honest. Stop taking your talking points from Kos and HuffPo and the media and actually learn something for yourself. It's very...liberating.

  • HHAHHAHAH.

I saw Palin interviews; it is like she is going to teach mat classes at university and can not answer a 2+2 question; stop covering for her. I saw all her interviews.

  • Please, pleeeeease tell me how being a hockey mom qualifies her for holding political office.

  • heh. Too late for dialectics. I've already won this fight. Governor Palin was the elected executive of a state that doesn't need to have it's governor visit foreign dignitaries or the CEO's of international conglomerates. Those people go to see the governor of Alaska. What has Obama ever accomplished? Besides look pretty and tell you exactly what you want to hear, regardless of reality, history, The Constitution, or the truth. Love or hate her, Palin has the skills. Obama has wordz.

  • Now, back to Palin. If someone wants to go after her over some kind of legally actionable issues or something of the sort, have at it. If they want to ask questions about her adherence to Pentecostal theology, or about how those beliefs might affect her policy decisions, fine and dandy. Just stick to the facts. Doing the whole National Enquirer thing with unfounded reports about two-headed, Draco-alien, Illuminati babies isn't legit any way ya look at it.

  • "If someone wants to go after her over some kind of legally actionable issues or something of the sort, have at it. "

    There is plenty there.

  • Well??? Where's the subpoenas? The investigation? The indictments? So far, nothing but unsubstantiated rumors...even with more than thirty lawyers sent directly from the Obama campaign ...combing through every inch of Alaska... The assumption of guilt is obvious. The evidence? Not so much. ;O)

  • "Well??? Where's the subpoenas? The investigation? The indictments?"

It not so much what she has done that is illegal. It what she has done that questions her competence.

-town was left with $22 million in debt after she left office. Took office with almost no debt.

-left office as mayor with 38% increase in tax butden on the public

-supports infrastructure but built city park and indoor sports complex instead of badly needed sewer system.

Fiscal conservative? I don't think so.

  • "Well??? Where's the subpoenas? The investigation? The indictments?"

Corruption fighter? She appointed a mayoral campaign supporter a $55,000 a year job as City Engineer who clearly was not qualified for the position. No wonder the sewer plant never got built, there was no one competent enough to oversee the project.

  • Heh. An accusation. Not an indictment, not a subpoena or a grand jury in sight. Of course, as long as you are doing the same investigations and making accusations against Obama or Biden, then you might have a point. A 'good fer the goose, good fer the gander' sort of a thing, ya know? Now, let's talk about a billion dollars in pork by the junior senator from Illinois in less than 143 days onna job. If you still wanna compare your top candidate against the Pubbies' #2, that's ok, too.

  • "Heh. An accusation. Not an indictment, not a subpoena or a grand jury in sight."

This is about honesty and integrity. Just because there is nothing illegal going on doesn't mean she gets a free pass. McCain, the party and Palin have to account for for this. After all, Republicans want to level similar accusations at others so why should they not be held to the same level of scrutiny? Or are you promoting a double standard?

  • "Now, let's talk about a billion dollars in pork by the junior senator from Illinois in less than 143 days onna job.

Sure reationalize your position then go on the attack to divert attention. No deal with her inadequecies first.

  • "Of course, as long as you are doing the same investigations and making accusations against Obama or Biden,"

You never answered regarding her incompetence. The reason is that you have no idea because you buy hook, line, and sinker the party line and are merely a sock puppet for the conservatives. Have a brain and balls of your own and check out what is really going on.

  • Actually, jimitl, I'm a radical libertarian. Even Ron Paul is too big government for me. I do have an affinity for the facts, however. The facts that democrats and 'progressives' promote about Palin are pretty much formed within their own fevered minds. Palin is more competent to be President than any of the other three candidates. Palin also has more experience with international diplomats with, perhaps, and only perhaps, the exception of McCain. A real world fact.

  • "Palin is more competent to be President than any of the other three candidates."

If you really believe that then this country is in serious trouble. McCain used very poor judgement in choosing her. He has played Russian Roulette with the country's future and I hold McCain rsponsible.

  • Heh. Is that in the same way that a similarly qualified Governor Bill Clinton endangered America? 'Cause, you know...it is. Obama is backed by the Daley Machine and actually thinks he can control nature through a mere utterance. Aside from his corruption, Biden can't understand why a man in a wheelchair can't stand up and McCain-Feingold virtually legalized every form of political corruption extant, but A Constitutional Originalist like Governor Palin is a danger to the nation?

  • "Heh. Is that in the same way that a similarly qualified Governor Bill Clinton endangered America? 'Cause, you know...it is."

All you ave done is go on the attack and never answered questions regarding this ticket. So typical, lie, cheat, distort, divert attention. Republicans took the last election with their fear mongering and legal manuevering. At least the intelligent people in this country know how to find the truth instead of being sock puppets for the conservatives.

  • When did the left start hating strong female political figures and begin to heap abuse on unwed mothers? Strategically, or even tactically, that's not a narrative they want to pursue if they want an Obama win in November. As for experience? She has more experience actually running things than anyone else on either ticket. Well..McCain was C.O. of a naval squadron for a bit, so that kinda counts. Biden and Obama are both - ahem - lawyers.

  • Dude- Congrats on becoming so concerned with gender-equity, but this has nothing to do with the fact that she's a woman. It's the far-right beliefs that she harbors. (Refer to my previous posting below.)

  • Well, I do have a problem with some of that, if true. However, global warming is not of man-made origins. Yes, we oughta clean up after ourselves, like responsible adults, but we didn't cause it. That's just scientific fact. Evolution? Creationists? Both pov are based on mythology and dogma. Mankind doesn't know nearly as much as we think we do. The rest of what she's about? She's pretty much a Libertarian Constructionist, really. When the neo-cons figger that out, they'll go ballistic.

  • Evolution is supported by facts, while creationism is, as you rightly say, based on mythology and dogma.

  • Interesting position. Did someone teach you that or did you do the research and investigation for yourself? Did you hear it from an authority figure in your life? In other words, is it just something you believe without any foundation? In other words, it's a meme, a narrative. A mythology? Once you really dig into it, the facts really do not support neo-evolutionary theories. No more so than they do any other religion. Evolution is a tautology.

  • It is when we disparage the beliefs of others and then use coercion to force our own beliefs upon them that there is no longer freedom, but tyranny. This is true whether you are a creationist or a lawyer or a neo-evolutionist. As long as Palin doesn't try to legislate her unfounded beliefs into law, I have no problem with her. However, to claim that evolution is factually based is unsupported by the available facts. It's a control meme She's a libertarian. Not a left or right-wing nutcase.

  • I'm currently majoring in biology so I have studied evolution quite a bit. The evidence for evolution is so astounding I'm amazed it's being called a tautology. Common descent with modification is a fact. If you want to dispute forces of evolution such as natural selection, mutations, genetic drift, and gene flow, go ahead. Though those forces have plenty of evidence for them as well.

  • The basic argument? Things improve because they improve because they improve. And if you don't believe it, you're a heretic. Sounds a bit like religious arguments to me. Research the other side of the issue and use the scientific method, not memes or narratives or interpretations. There are things that we simply do not yet know or understand. To claim any differently is to ignore the history and even the philosophy of science. Uniformitarianism is not the answer.

  • wrb: Global warming and Evolution have lots of scientific evidence. On the contrary, Creationism is widely perceived as a fable, and no serious scientist will attempt to "demonstrate" its validity. You can't even prove the existence of god, or even the historical existence of Jesus, much less a childish fable called "Creationism". If Creation is the way things happen....who created the Creator ? PS. The Bible is not a scientific book, so don't even try to use it as your "proof"

  • I'm not forcing you to believe it. It's your right to believe whatever you wish. Just stating that all evidence we have from a number of scientific disciplines all point to the same conclusion, that evolution explains the diversity of life.

  • Well, if you believe alla that based merely on dogma, doctrine and inadequate evidence, what's the big problem with Western religion? Same same. Most scientific theories today remind me of epi-cycles. The theories never predict what they discover and they are always surprised and scrambling to find another way to make the evidence fit the theories. (Admittedly, Creationists are worse.) Religious or evolutionist, left, right or center, Do the research. Think for yourself. Question authority.

  • Science IS about thinking for yourself, and it IS about questioning authority.Good scientific theories do predict outcomes, which is why they are used. Evolution by natural selection has withstood 150 years of rigoruous peer-reviewed work to become the theory it is today. Science is always open to new evidence, and any good scientist and reasonable person changes their views when shown the evidence. There is no dogma, there is evidence.

  • There is so much evidence in this day and age for evolution it is mind boggling. We have evidence from genetics, the fossil record, comparative anatomy, geographical distribution of animals, comparative physiology, comparative biochemistry, and observed speciation. There's even more to it than that. We have such a rich knowledge of evolution down to the molecular level.

  • Science is the best tool humans have in finding the truth about reality. Science constantly change as we gather evidence, and that's the beauty of it. There is no higher authority, everyone is on equal grounds to check their facts and repeat other folks' tests.

  • Sounds just like fundamentalist religious authority teachings to me. The argument's the same, only the topic and the terminology has changed. Exegesis is exegesis and dialectic is dialectic, wherever you find it.

Remember: When the theories aren't predictive, it's no longer science. When scientists stop being surprised and shocked by their own discoveries, they might be worth listening to. Now...how about some nice Dark Matter or even a cheetah or two...

  • Hopefully everyone can see through her plan to blame the media. Here's a woman who opposes stem cell research, opposes abortion in ALL cases, supports a war that is costing us $10 billion a week, favors a huge tax cut for the top 2%, believes that there is no man-made cause to global warming, believes that the market will fix the healthcare crisis, is opposed to gay rights, and wants to teach creationism in schools. She DOES NOT represent the mainstream.

  • Classic Rovian victimization. It barely worked for the Bush brand before the Iraqi war became unpopular. I don't think it's going to work for an Alaskan wildcard.

How about she talks about policy instead?

  • NObama didn't even talk for 5 minutes during his nomination speech about policy. Oh and by the way, attacking a candidate's daughter in a sick and twisted way and deserves to be called such. I'll just go back to "clinging to god and guns now" thank you.

  • You must be talking of McCain attacking and making jokes about Hillary's daughter physical appearance when Chelsea was just a teen ?

  • Didn't she just call Hillary a whiner? Now she's doing it herself?
