  • This guy has no idea what he's talking about.

*Spirulina doesn't have the highest protein content of any food, it has a high content for a plant-based food.

    * Honey isn't made of pollen

    * Spirulina didn't feed mexico city for thousands of years. It's first recorded in the 16th century and was eaten by some people, but didn't "feed the city"

  • People keep talking about vitamin b-12. Two things: 1. your body needs micrograms of b-12 (do you have any idea how tiny a microgram is? Go look it up) 2. Your body RECYCLES b-12, so the daily allowance is (or rather should be) regarded as different than other essential vitamins. If your a vegan, you don't much b-12. And if your not vegan, you still not much b-12.

  • Triptophan is now being regarded as good stabilizer for anxiety, and may help prevent panic attacks. If you have anxiety, eat Pumpkin seeds, Durian etc. and see if it helps...

  • David forgot Seaweeds. Second highest protein containing food there is.

  • i cant take the taste of spitillina, even smelling it makes me heave, anyone got any advice on how to blend or mix it to make it taste better

  • @arsenalsno1 where do you get yours from because I've never even heard of this

  • @spareld I got it from Holand and Barret, it dosnt mix at all just gets all gloupy, ive thrown the packet out now as i attempted to have some again after the gym and ended up ruening my vegtable juice! Where do you get yours from, is it good?

  • Vegetables are good sources of protein but I'm not totally vegan. I still have a part of my belief system that tells me it is okay to eat natural free roaming organic eggs, They have an enormous amount of B12 and other health benefits. We all have our opinions

  • I LOVE David Wolfe.

He's so adorable and his smile is soooo contagious :)

  • Uea and b12 is also found in tempeh and nutri yeast

  • Where do you get your choline?

  • When I put spirulina in a smoothie, it keeps me going a lot longer.

  • When we are raised on processed foods, our bodies get acclimated to getting certain nutrients from certain places, even places which may be unhealthy. If the only Vitamin C you ever get is from soda, your going to crave soda. As you transition toward raw foods, your body starts to adapt and spinach can taste as good as a steak, People who haven't experienced it just don't know.

  • @calico992 it's totally true... the aminos and nutrients start to hit your system in a different way... I think it's that after all the cleansing and the herbs and the internal process the absorption just gets really really great and you start to feel so alive.

  • Chimps eat raw meat. Cows eat bugs found in grass.

  • What about vitamin B12?.... only found in meat and dairy.

  • @adamresyk2112 no royal jelly and golden inca berries have b12

  • @adamresyk2112 Nutritional yeast and dulse have b12

  • @Himekahorselover to add, most vegetables unwashed have sources of b12 on them. I don't wash my vegetables for this reason and the fact that I don't have any truly "clean" water to wash them with. However you do not know the exact amounts of b12 so it would be best to supplement or one of those options as well.

  • We love these for protein: spirulina, chlorella, hemp seeds, and Warrior Food. Visit our site. From, Jason and Pia (Welovesuperfoods website)

  • what about pork scratchings which have 52 grams of protein per 100grams

  • you are not suppose to eat protein, which is is DEAD FOOD. one is suppose to eat fruit only. you are only suppose to eat what is raw and taste good to your taste buds, not what science has told you. who cares if spirulina has 70 %, we are not to take in any protein at all. Specially that much! Van Orden is the only guy on the money so far

  • @zoklops hahaah what? Fruit isnt even a natural food! Its man made- breed over thousands of seasons- The apple is not natural. Look up Daniel Vitalis on superfoodspeakeasy channel

  • bAAahhahah

  • Well lets go for a walk in the field and gets some spirilina, bee pollen, flax seed. Its natural and needed. NO! What am I saying, hang on I will get my credit card and phone???? Is it natural? Do we really need it? How about broccoli, kale?

  • Shame spirulina costs like $30 for a tiny bottle...

  • I aree. Such a shame. It was pricey in the US and the UK. Now that I'm in Austria it's even worse. Shocking. Sadly health food stores/companies have to raise prices because although there are many of us raw/vegan/healthy whatever-type eaters, we're still the minority and can't support the system - the healthy system I mean. At least not yet. The world is still set up to live on processed/fast food. Sad.

  • Flower pollen is cheaper and way better than spirulina, imo. Not only contains ALL essential aminoacids, but also more 20+ vitamins, 20+ minerals.

  • Is flower pollen the same as bee polen?

  • Yes.

  • @Xavier350 There is no other way to get it? I've been intrested, but haven't got to really check into it:/ That is a shame!

  • @Xavier350

    Flexseed is cheap

  • Xavier350,

$30 is a lot less than what you'll end up losing when you get ill later on in life.....

  • Spuralina is Ok. But if you really, really want the best nutrition check AFA blue green algae. E3Live google it. They actually sale it fresh frozen, organic, 97% usable by the body. I talk to Raw Food experts all the time. I'm surprice David does not mention it.

  • which is associated with liver cancer. How do we know that ancient Mexicans survived on algae? What was life expectancy? 40? They had turkeys, lots of them, they probably fed them algae and then ate the turkeys. Or maybe they had fish farms. Hard to say as the lake is long gone. I agree we should get a more varied and less meat focused diet. Eskimos have algae, why do they go for the whale blubber? Climate plays a roll as well.

  • @mrsphelps25 he has metioned it a lot in the past

  • Who cares about protein? The body needs the amino acids not the bond "protein" which is hard for the human body to break down in the first place! Outside of that who was around for thousands of years proving that an entire civilization ate algae from the bottom of a lake? Please tell me people do there research before buying into any of this.

  • uhhhm, last time I checked micro villi absorb protein just fine.....its been done since the dawn of time chief.

  • The dawn of time? This is my point exacly.. who was around during the dawn of time? I wish people were more responsible with the words when they speak to an area of people so vast.

  • wow...seriously?????? I am not even going to waste my time....your point is pathetic.

  • There are so many things to draw examples from other than outlandish statements like "around since the dawn of time" The world operates "this day and age" people want results and examples in the "now." Also Complex chains of Amino Acids is what our body needs, if it's easier to get them directly opposed to breaking down the bond of protein then why not remove the middle man?. Didn't the nutritional and meat industry start the obtuse protein campaigns in the first place?

  • If you want to cater to the world of today, and appeal to people other than hippies you'll need to start using examples and statements that can be proven, shown and experienced now! ;)

    Cheers.

  • If you want to gain an audience and a appeal to a group of people you need to relate to them in what you say, and last time I checked most people can't relate nor fathom relating to ancient civilizations and things that took place during the dawn of time. Perhaps this is why this lifestyle is still geared towards hippies, there minds are much more open than the lawyers and doctors of this world, but to make a change the lawyers and doctors are the ones that truly need to be sold.

  • I think you would be surprised at who actually shows up at david's seminars. People from all walks of life.

  • lol.....I agree with you.......its laughable

  • Although I consider these estimated GI values to be too low, for sweet fruits-

    Grapes, raw (Canada)43

    Grapes, raw (Italy)49

    Grapes, black, Waltham Cross (Australia)59

    Pineapple juice, unsweetened46

    Pineapple, raw (Australia)66

    Pineapple (Ananas comosus), raw (Philippines)51

    Mango, ripe (Mangifera indica) (India)60

Mango (Mangifera indica) (Australia)51 Although fruits contain valuable micro-nutriments, the unwanted sugar from these foods is by far a bigger concern for diabetics.

  • Sorry, ALL carbohydrates are the same. Even sweet fruit and honey raise blood sugar levels to high levels. To a diabetic, high blood sugar levels are not desirable and can be quite dangerous. See my video-

Glycemic Index- Why it does not work.

  • Come on ernie: we re "naked chimps" , our next animal ancestor is the chimp and he eats 50% fruit. We need fruits, fruits are awesome, green leafy veggies are awesome too, fat is awesome too!

  • We have undergone considerable genetic modification since we can out of the trees.

To my knowledge, chimps and other primates don't get diabetics.

  • Thanks for reply.

Difficult to get the obvious over to people, especially ones who go out on way out diets. Eating carbohydrates only increases blood sugar problems. So why do it ?

    Thanks

  • Eat them moderately and with enough of the right fats and you won't have any of that.

  • The debate about fats is still current. One research says one thing and another says the opposite. I think the main point not brought out in most studies is the effect of overeating carbohydrates, in particular sugars. Excess carbohydrates are converted by the liver to produce undesirable excess fatty acids and consequently some conversion to cholesterol.

Thus, it is not only a function of the type of fat in ones diet.

  • For me, saturated fats and cod liver oil have worked wonders. Overeating in general and especially on high carb foods is definitely bad for you, I agree with that wholeheartedly.

  • You're thinking of REFINED carbs.

  • I love MEAT- BEST source of concentrated protein going.

I avoid high sugar diets like RAW and VEGAN.

I had pre diabetes 3 years ago and went on a low carbo, NO SUGAR diet. I lost 10Kg and lost my high blood sugar levels.

    Enough said !!

  • I actually crave the taste of spirillina and seaweed type foods. I crave all greens actually. Guess that's a good thing.

  • If you CRAVE these foods means you are not eating correctly.

Try fish and chicken. These will solve your cravings.

  • I've tried that and that's when I get the cravings for them.

  • Cravings usually come from eating excess carbohydrates, in particular sugars. All carbohydrates "spike" blood sugar and the body produces insulin to counter the unwanted high blood glucose levels. However, the body tends to over react resulting in too low blood glucose levels. This produces "cravings". Try and avoid eating carbohydrates with the protein and see if this works. Seems to work OK for me.

    Hope helps,

    Ernie Lee

  • That's how my dr described it too. Thanks for the help!

  • See above

  • Where can I get all the episodes of this programme/talk. Thanks. I have found four on utube. 13, 19, 23 and 27, I couldnt find any more. Thanks anyone.

  • Finally, you posted more David Wolfe...now post more!

  • PROTEIN MYTH is an exc video by Raw Vegan athlete tim van orden

  • I laugh at my meat eating friends. I'm 2 meters tall with an enormous build. Am 100% raw vegan. They keep telling me I'm protein deficient (i eat perhaps 75g of protein per day). They are the ones who look protein deficient.

  • wtf is the sense in that. I hope you tell them this and shut them up.

They were having this fat test at a fair and they called me over so I was like why not. Turns out I have less than 1% fat ratio. The lady was raving and said it's beyond superior. Then the old lady and old guy said "well u need SOME fat".

So I told her that when I had "SOME fat" I was sick all the time. And now I NEVER get sick. That shut them both up on the spot.

  • Go RAW!!!! :)
